Let the world building commence!
I'm excited to start expanding my cartography class to add world building from a cartographer's point of view! I've got a nice long list of topics I want to cover, videos I want to make, and articles I want to write. Like the first time with the cartography class, this is a daunting project but I'm determined to get it done. I already started linking some of my past lessons on my website here: https://devenrue.com/pages/world-buil...
Rue News...letter
So, thanks to the stellar job Aras is doing (I'm going to praise her until she can't take it anymore simply because she's made my life & work SSSSOOOOO much more enjoyable and manageable), we're going to spark up that old newsletter machine and send one out once a month. It will contain new products, any new perks, events, news, and any sales or special offers for my website or collaborations. The idea is to cut down on unwanted sp...

Written from my personal perspective but I hope it gives some good insights on how to respectfully have a character in your game with limited sight. If you like it, please feel free to share it.

March Update!
A quick update of what's happening and what's coming soon: I'm still working on an NDA project that is very slow to get done and that's just going to be a LONG time before anyone sees it. But that's the nature of this business. I'm working on TWO super secret projects with Level Up Dice that you're all going to LOVE! I'm working on finishing a patron commission I started a while ago as it'll be the last I do fo...

Bee Tiers Are Going Away
Don't worry if you're already at those pledge levels, you can stay where you are and I'll keep donating monthly to the bees! As much as I LOVE having these tiers, the amount of messages I get regarding them is a bit...silly, really. Not only is it apparently confusing for some people but I get a lot of "are you even allowed to collect money for charity like that?!" or "are you a non-profit"? So to eliminate the confusi...
I'm rolling with advantage now!
After an exasperating year (2020) and exhaustive 2 months (Jan/Feb), I finally broke down and got serious about hiring some help. It's part-time but it's a start. Aras, from Aras Custom Designs, will be helping me run a few things on our Discord (giveaways/contests), on my website (adding products & updating text), & running our birthday wishlist spreadsheet! I'm SO excited to have her helping me with this stuff so I can focus on othe...

VTT Map Pack: The Kingdoms of Kroako
This has been a daunting project I was determined to get done this month! I took the world map of Kroako and broke it down into regions, added more towns/cities, and added more "expedition notes"! 18 maps in total! EIGHTEEN!I have 3 different versions available: annotated, without notes, or without text. Each with 18 maps you and your players can just crawl across! Each map is HUGE without going over the 10MB limit of most VTT apps.Navigat...
Birthdays 3.0
Ok...so I tried keeping track of everyone's birthdays and sending out cards/gifts only to have it completely overwhelm me very month.I then switched to automating everything, which was good and bad. Good in that I was no longer overwhelmed with the card/gift sending, bad in that it was not as hands-on as I would have liked.Solution: A little of column A and a little of column B!Just like we did with our Secret Santa last holiday season, I'...

Operation Foliage
Ok Ruebees...we're starting "Operation Foliage"! Both Bre & I are feeling the strain of being cooped up inside, me especially since it's been over a year and a half! So I'm going to start buying a ton of artificial greenery to put about the house so we can have a bit of color everywhere without all the work. The picture above shows our favorite spot in the house, with lots of color, which is next to our dining table. But we bo...

Coasters: Yes or no?
The company who makes my Snappy Dice trays also offers coasters of the same material (sort of like the same rubbery material a wetsuit is made out of). They would be printed just as vibrant at the trays and are affordable. However, I don't know if I should bother. Coasters are fun but would you actually buy them? So let's take a poll. Only say yes if you would actually consider buying them for yourself. Don't say yes because you think...
Discord Updates!
We now have self-assigning roles in our Discord! Currently we have one for pronouns and one for your favorite class. You simply need to add a reaction to any of the posts in the "self-assigning-roles" channel on our server to join the colorful fun.But to answer a few questions first:1. You do NOT have to pick any roles if you don't want to.2. You can pick to react to just the class or pronouns role or both. The choice is yours.3. You ...

2021 Plans
The past three years have been a whirlwind of projects and "just for now" fixes (which has sadly been mostly my website up until it's revamp, which is why I needed it so desperately). It's been crazy managing the map queue, commercial work, and projects that would get my name out there. Not to mention the website, product creation, advertising, bookkeeping, events, Discord, and all the other endless things that go into running thi...
Kingdoms of Ayon Map Pack
I'm working my way through my past body of work to break my maps down into smaller sections and adding a bit more information (such as filling in names of smaller areas that would be too much to add to the full map) as well as leaving them without any text so you can add your own names as needed.Today the Ayon map was broken down into the individual kingdoms and made into easy to upload sizes to use on your favorite virtual tabletop!Click her...
New Map Packs for your virtual tabletops!
If you follow me on Twitter, you know I recently contacted Roll20 to sell in their marketplace. While I was starting the process, I also started deciding on how to best package my maps for virtual tabletops. I'm happy to announce that I will now be offering my maps in "Map Pack" format. This will be a 72DPI pack of maps containing a full map (world or otherwise) as well as the map broken down into regions as the images above suggests....
My Virtual Birthday Party
On February 1st I turn 47 years old. Let me tell you, I'm extremely proud of that number especially considering what's happening with the world around us! Over the holidays my wife & I saved for a few months to get me a treadmill. I'm determined to be healthy & in shape by 50 (I'm calling it "Fabulous before 50") and have 3 years to complete my mission. If you're on our Discord, we now have a Fitness Check-in channel t...

Sneak peek & new perk!
If you haven't noticed, I'm a little obsessed with wax seals lately. Mostly because I so very much enjoy the zen nature of making them but also because they are a lot of fun. This month's pledges not only helped me expand my collection of stamps but also afforded me the time to create some new designs of my own and experiment with a few ideas too! As patrons, you get a sneak peek behind the scenes before anything goes live but I'v...
