updating models
quite a few models that just need some polishing
robo-doggos and GXP Bothans
UV fixing Simmone's Ylva and i had a request to one day do Bothans and that same night i was thinking of a harem comic idea inspired by Elma from GXP and turns out their head shapes are similar and its more 3d figures to make
squirrley update
i really need to settle on a single title for this folio...time for color
squirrel nutty
some nice line works done now to color them
Ylva project
Simmone has commissioned a project for his robot fire fighter wolf gal to get a 3 page comic and THIS is going to be a good one.
squirrel time update
one or two more passes on the line work then ready for color. im thinking acrylic inks for this one
stripes of the plains update
more lines before paint
stripes of the plains update
a quick sketch of the linework before the blending and painting starts
inspired to 3d again
thanks to the new toy im finally driven to really get back into 3d. so much so that i will be making my own props too
philophana update
a few more done
censhi of mana
i have never played trials of mana so im doing a bunch of google searches to find out what the rest of the characters look like and seeing what fun costumes i can put censhi in
squirrley update
now to do the pencil layers
squirrely update
went back to this folio and refined/fixed the anatomy im looking forward to the painting layer for this one
Mana Censhi
starting the Censhi images and finished a pencil work
pencil panda
re worked the lines with my pencil brush ....looks decent
Jenny bounce studies
testing color work in Photoshop. my flats are good but the rendered one is a bit too "off" it may be a lighting thing
style study
trying to get a watercolor pencil comic look in photoshop and clip studio
photoshoped Shishi
its odd going back to photoshop. i've had to relearn many pf the tools i used to use.i brought in the line work from clip studio rather then just repaint the whole thing from the ground up and i quite like the results. im going to keep using both programs more in the future
philophana update
5 more done....though a bit out of order
shesheik studies
making a reference set for my characters
peak wulf update
this comic will be a mized media endevor. mixing digital and traditional mediums. im leaving a lot of lighter lines because when i print out these pages for their first run of color i want the light lines to be lost in the ink and gouache
master studies
while working on the line work for Peak wulf, i felt my line quality had slipped a bit, regressed somewhat. so i grabbed my references for Mark Schultz and did some studies. my goal was not to directly copy the image but add in a touch of his "flair" . for example the way he draws eyes and hair. after a few studies i tried doing some poses i did not have a reference for. to see if i could keep what i learned
master study
i went online and grabbed a good watercolor portrait to copy the colors from. the next step will be to do this in watercolor but i have a lot of catching up to do. i just upgraded to win 10 and the end of tax season has all together made me far behind in everything
mana cat update
thanks to feedback i fixed some anatomy and then just went over all the line work again to give it more "umph" also some of my most used copics are very low on ink so i ordered refills
acrylic vs acryla
i tried regular acrylic on linen but could not get the right "feel" it would always have inconsistent opacity with each brush stroke so after a few days of frustration i switched back to acryla gouache and THAT is how my mind thinks acrylic should feel when painting. though i need to be far more aggressive in my shadows
peak Wulf update
48 pages. now to refine it enough to be legible ;)
photo studies
i took a random photo from online and started a series of studies of in in various medium. after my classes were done i realized i needed a better library of how light falls on form so doing studies of real people would help that.the first one is copic markers, the second is abandoned after i went too dark too fast. then i did the third in a single pass of marker with acrylic ink as the shadows and the last is gouache over the same kind of basene...
oil study sketches
i bought some oil primed linen sheets and put one through my printer to see if it would work and YES it did now to do some studies of this image in oil. eventually i will move up to a much larger image
bunny 3d update
good news. the Riggify tool works good. bad news. took all day to set up and i still need to start the weight painting fixes. there is the possibility that i rework her rest pose to straighten out her feet. right now her foot controls are a little wonky and i need to put in toe bones
squirrel update
again her head in particular was hard
