Darwin was an interesting guy and made such an impact on society that even today there are two surviving cultural references that play on his work:
1) The Darwin Awards (worth a google if you're not familiar)
2) A list of pros and cons on marriage, which lists out the funny annoyances of having a longterm parter.
He ultimately decided the pros outweighed the cons, stating that "Only picture to yourself a nice soft wife on a sofa with good fire, & books & music perhaps."
He left out the part where it would be preferable that she be wearing skimpy red lingerie, but did add in a funny section in the Con section about having to visit relatives.
