One of my favorite lessons from T-group is learning to notice how often someone says, “I feel like ___,” only to follow it with something that isn’t a feeling at all—it’s a story!
A story is something our mind creates to explain why we think we feel the way we do. It’s an interpretation, a narrative we weave to make sense of our experience—but it’s not as close to the truth of reality as a simple body sensation or raw emotion is. By tuning into what’s happening in our body, like tightness in the chest or warmth in the belly, or naming a core emotion like sadness or joy, we can connect more deeply with what’s real in the moment. This #awareness can shift how we relate to ourselves and others.
