After having wild sex, we got out of Benjamin's car and rushed back to the club.

Damn, those flashbacks are terrifying, I need to do something to distract myself. I grab the purse on the back seat, frantically search for the cigarette pack, light a cigarette immediately, and smoke like a desperate person.
Damn, the windows won't roll down. The keys are not in the ignition, Liam must have taken them. At this point, I decide to slightly open the door, letting the smoke out of the cabin. I look around, growing more and more anxious.
It's strange how in certain moments, you go from a phase of intense excitement to one of total depression. I've experienced both things simultaneously, I don't know if it has ever happened to you in life.
Benjamin didn't deserve the harm I had just inflicted on him. My boyfriend was nice, kind, and a bit crazy. But Liam kept entering my mind.
I remember Amanda saying, "Liam, turn around, I want to see your back."
More flashbacks, just to suffer, and time wasn't passing. Then suddenly, the sound of the door, the car rocks, and Liam gets into the car. I'm surprised by how determined he was to resolve that situation. Without hesitation, Liam puts the keys in the dashboard, turns to me, and smiles.
THE SILENCE:
Liam, as planned, drove me home in my boyfriend's Honda Civic. The tension between Liam and me was palpable. If it weren't for the sound of the engine and the squeaking of the shocks as the car hit potholes, you could even hear the sound of our breathing, that's how quiet we were.
As the car made its way down the road towards home, I kept staring at the dashboard. Those holes I had caused with my heels felt like a stab to my heart. My hand slowly slid across the dashboard. I was sad, but suddenly Liam's hand reached out and took mine.
👨🏼LIAM: Are you okay?
👩🏽AMANDA: Apart from the fact that I just cheated on my boyfriend and wrecked his car, I'm fine, thanks.

I stared at Liam as he drove, and my mind reasoned that maybe alcohol didn't matter that much anymore.
THUMP... THUMP... (Sounds of the wheels hitting small potholes.)
Suddenly, breaking the silence that had settled, Liam's phone starts ringing.
(To the tune of "We Are the Champions," Liam takes his phone with his right hand from his pocket.)
👨🏼LIAM: Hey, sweetheart, yeah, I'm here with Benjamin and his girlfriend. I'll be home soon.
👨🏼LIAM: You want to know how Amanda is? She's a really sweet girl. Of course, I'll introduce you to her. Bye, see you later.

Liam was right, I was a sweet girl, but something in me was changing. Prima di iniziare, però, vorrei fare una piccola premessa. Durante il mio soggiorno in Canada, ho vissuto esperienze sorprendenti e talvolta anche inaspettate. Non ho rimpianti né delusioni, ma ho semplicemente ampliato la mia prospettiva di vita. Quindi, non prendete tutto ciò troppo seriamente. Posso capire se non è di vostro gradimento, ma fa parte del mio percorso di vita, sia nei momenti positivi che in quelli negativi.
Ora posso cominciare. Il mio nome è 👩🏽 Amanda K., ho trentadue anni, ma la mia storia inizia quando ne avevo 24.

Il Canada è un posto fantastico che mi ha affascinato fin dal momento in cui ho messo piede sul suolo canadese. Appena atterrata, sembrava di vivere in una nuova dimensione. Le cose stavano diventando complicate anche per me... Addio Canada, addio nuova vita... Ma fortunatamente non è andata così. Il mio adorato Benjamin, con l'aiuto dei suoi amici, mi trovò una sistemazione presso una famiglia canadese. In cambio di alloggio e di qualche dollaro per coprire le spese principali, avrei dovuto prendermi cura di due bellissimi e dolcissimi bambini, che ancora oggi porto nel mio cuore.
A questo punto del mio racconto, darò dei nomi alle persone che ho conosciuto, sostituendo i punti con i loro veri nomi.
👩🏼Sandra: "Quindi vieni dall'Italia? Wow, l'Italia è bellissima. Ci sono stata molti anni fa..."
Ricordo che Sandra parlava, parlava... insomma, non smetteva mai.
👩🏼Sandra: "Questo è il locale lavanderia, e lì in fondo ci sono le scale per lo scantinato."
Un'altra cosa che ricordo molto bene è come era fatta quella casa.
Addio divertimento da turista, inizia il duro lavoro. In realtà, mi divertivo, i due bambini mi riempivano di orgoglio. Lavavo i panni, stiravo e preparavo la colazione. Ricordo perfino di aver fatto la pizza una volta. È stato un vero disastro, ahahahah.
Sbaglio oppure mi sto dipingendo come la povera Cenerentola? Tutto lavoro e casa? NOOO, certo che no, io avevo il mio adorato Benjamin.
Una sera Benjamin mi invita ad una festa.
Mi preparo alla grande, sapete, tacchi alti, vestito corto. Ricordo anche che Sandra mi aiutò con il make-up.

👩🏽AMANDA: Grazie.
Si aveva proprio ragione, ero fantastica quella sera, anzi una vera bomba sexy.
Sandra in quel periodo era molto vicina a me, continuava a farmi regali, sorrisi, non che mi desse fastidio, anzi! Ma la cosa mi sembrava molto strana.
Quella sera stessa Benjamin mi viene a prendere con la sua nuovissima 🚗Honda Civic, in realtà l'aveva comprata da un suo amico e aveva tutta la fiancata distrutta.

Mischiare vino con alcol puro è un vero suicidio... Ti sballa ai massimi ma poi ti distrugge il giorno dopo.
Quella sera il tavolo era pieno di bicchieri e altrettante erano le bottiglie di vino e di alcol.
Dopo un paio di ore il mio amato Benjamin era completamente distrutto e si addormentò sul divano del locale.
Io invece ero ancora attiva e carica come una batteria appena comprata.
Ricordo che quella sera ballavo come una pazza, ero incollata a Liam, un amico di Benjamin.
Liam era un bel ragazzo, i nostri occhi continuavano a incrociarsi e ogni volta che lo facevano scoppiavamo a ridere...
Avevo 24 anni, ragazzi, non voglio passare per una zoccola e né tanto meno per una santa, ma quella sera io e Liam passammo il resto della serata sulla Honda Civic...
Da come ero posseduta quella sera avevo persino sfondato la plastica del cruscotto con i miei tacchi.

SECONDO CAPITOLO
Dopo aver fatto sesso sfrenato, scendemmo dall'auto di Benjamin per tornare di corsa al locale.
👩🏽AMANDA: Dai, sbrigati...
👨🏼LIAM: Dammi solo un secondo, si è incastrato il sedile. Sembra che non voglia più tornare al suo posto.
👩🏽AMANDA: D'accordo, io intanto vado da Benjamin.
Avevo metabolizzato l'errore che avevo fatto, quindi corsi immediatamente da Benjamin. Non ricordo bene quante parolacce mi diedi quella sera, ma penso di essermi auto-inflitta molte umiliazioni. Entrata nel locale, vidi il mio adorato Benjamin ancora sdraiato sul divanetto, era nel mondo dei sogni, ignaro di quello che era appena successo.
👨🏼LIAM: È ancora addormentato?
👩🏽AMANDA: Sì.
👩🏽AMANDA: Hai sistemato il sedile?
👨🏼LIAM: No, è incastrato. Purtroppo, deve essersi piegato qualche ingranaggio.
Il mondo mi stava cadendo addosso. Non solo avevo perso la mia dignità, ma avevo persino danneggiato la macchina del mio fidanzato. L'aveva acquistata con tanti sacrifici e, anche se non era bella, quell'auto valeva molto per lui.
👩🏽AMANDA: Che stupida che sono...
👩🏽AMANDA: Ascoltami bene, Liam. Mi prendo io la colpa dei danni subiti dall'auto di Benjamin, ma stai tranquillo, non ti metto in mezzo. So bene che sei il suo migliore amico e non voglio rovinare le cose a causa mia. Quindi dirò che mi sono lasciata andare con un altro ragazzo conosciuto mentre lui stava dormendo.

Mentre camminavo lungo il vialetto per andare verso l'auto, ricordo che stavo male, ma non piangevo. Ancora oggi non riesco a capire il perché.
IL DANNO:
Arrivata all'auto, apro la portiera e la prima cosa che vedo è il sedile ancora sdraiato. Prendo la borsetta e l'appoggio sul sedile posteriore, poi mi siedo in auto. Chiudo la porta come se non volessi farmi vedere da nessuno. Il tempo sembrava non voler passare mai: i secondi erano minuti e i minuti erano ore, e io ero sempre più agitata.
Avevo dei flashback di cosa era appena successo su quell'auto. Ricordo di Amanda che mi dice: "Togliti i pantaloni... Ancora, ancora, lo voglio..."
Cazzo, quei flashback sono terrificanti, devo fare qualcosa per distrarmi. Prendo la borsetta sul sedile posteriore, cerco freneticamente il pacchetto di sigarette, accendo subito una sigaretta e fumo come una disperata.
Cazzo, i finestrini non scendono. Le chiavi non sono sul quadro, Liam deve averle prese. A questo punto decido di aprire leggermente la porta, il fumo esce dall'abitacolo. Mi guardo attorno sempre più ansiosa.
È strano come in certi momenti si passi da una fase di forte eccitamento a una di depressione totale. Mi è capitato di affrontare entrambe le cose simultaneamente, non so se anche a voi è mai successo nella vita.
Benjamin non meritava il torto che gli avevo appena inflitto. Il mio fidanzato era simpatico, gentile e un po' pazzerello. Ma Liam continuava a entrare nella mia testa.
👩🏽Ricordo di Amanda che dice: "👨🏼Liam, girati, voglio vederti di spalle."
Ancora un po' di flashback, tanto per soffrire, e il tempo non passava. Poi, all'improvviso, il rumore della portiera, l'auto dondola e Liam entra nell'auto. Rimango sorpresa da quanto fosse deciso a risolvere quella situazione. Senza esitazione, Liam mette le chiavi nel cruscotto, si gira verso di me e mi sorride.
IL SILENZIO:
Liam, come da copione, mi accompagnò a casa con la Honda Civic del mio fidanzato. L'aria tesa tra me e Liam era palpabile. Se non fosse stato per il rumore del motore e il cigolio degli ammortizzatori quando l'auto passava sopra le buche, si poteva persino sentire il rumore del nostro respiro, tanto eravamo in silenzio.
Mentre l'auto percorreva la strada di casa, continuavo a fissare il cruscotto. Quei buchi che avevo provocato con i miei tacchi erano come una pugnalata al mio cuore. La mia mano scivolò lentamente sul cruscotto. Ero triste, ma all'improvviso la mano di Liam prese la mia.
👨🏼LIAM: Stai bene?
👩🏽AMANDA: A parte il fatto che ho appena tradito il mio fidanzato e che gli ho distrutto l'auto, sto bene, grazie.
LIAM: Eravamo ubriachi, lo sai vero?
👩🏽AMANDA: Dici sul serio? Io penso che l'unico ubriaco sia ancora al Bearly's Bar.
Guardavo fisso Liam mentre guidava e la mia mente mi faceva ragionare che l'alcol forse non contava più di tanto.
TUTUM.. TUTUM... (Rumori delle ruote quando prendono delle piccole buche.)
All'improvviso, a rompere il silenzio che si era creato, il telefono di Liam comincia a suonare.
(Sulle note di "We Are the Champions", Liam prende il suo telefono con la mano destra dalla sua tasca.)
👨🏼LIAM: Ciao tesoro, sì, sono qui con Benjamin e la sua fidanzata. Tra poco torno a casa.
👨🏼LIAM: Vuoi sapere com'è Amanda? È una ragazza molto dolce. Ma certo che te la farò conoscere. Ciao, a dopo.
👩🏽AMANDA: Dolce? Avresti dovuto dire una traditrice.
👨🏼LIAM: In Canada non c'è la pena di morte per chi tradisce. E comunque, sei davvero dolce.
Liam aveva ragione, ero una ragazza dolce, ma qualcosa in me stava cambiando. Tra tutti gli scenari che avrei potuto immaginare prima di partire dall'Italia, l'ultima cosa che mi sarei aspettata, dopo la scoreggia in pubblico, era di ritrovarmi con le gambe aperte e i tacchi conficcati nel cruscotto dell'auto del mio fidanzato. Quindi forse la parola "dolce" doveva essere rivalutata.

👨🏼LIAM: Siamo arrivati.
Ero così imbarazzata che scesi subito dall'auto, feci un piccolo cenno con la testa per salutare Liam e, prima di richiudere la portiera, un'ultima occhiata veloce a quel fottutissimo cruscotto.
🚗CRUSCOTTO AUTO: Ciao Amanda, sarò qui a ricordarti per molto tempo cosa hai fatto questa sera. Sarà interessante vedere cosa dirai al tuo amato fidanzato quando parlerà di me.

Era tardi, ed ero stanca, delusa, eccitata. Insomma, un mix di tante emozioni messe insieme. Mi rendo conto che non è normale parlare con un cruscotto. Beh, comunque dovete crederci: quella sera quel fottutissimo cruscotto sembrava quasi che mi parlasse.
TUM (RUMORE DELLA PORTIERA CHE SI CHIUDE)
Una leggera sgommata e Liam riparte per tornare dal mio amato Benjamin.
Mi guardo attorno, prendo la borsetta, ci frugo dentro e prendo una sigaretta. Comincio a fumare.
Alzo la testa al cielo e vedo le stelle brillare sopra di me. Ricordo quando ero piccola con i miei genitori al grande parco.

PAPA' DI AMANDA: Vedi, Amanda, nell'antichità le stelle erano un punto di riferimento per i marinai.

Spengo la sigaretta ed entro in casa piano piano per non far rumore. Non volevo certo svegliare Sandra, né tanto meno la sua famiglia.

Ma non feci in tempo a darmi una risposta che vidi arrivare Sandra verso di me, indossando solo la lingerie. Sembrava arrabbiata, e lo era in effetti.
TUTTI SI PREOCCUPANO:
👩🏼SANDRA: È questa l'ora di rientrare a casa?
👩🏼SANDRA: Sai che ore sono?
👩🏼SANDRA: Ti ho chiamato fino a cinque minuti fa, ma hai il telefono staccato...
Già, il telefono, che fine ha fatto? Forse mi era caduto tra i sedili della macchina di Benjamin? Dannazione, ci mancava solo questo.
Sandra continuava a infierire, giustamente. Si era preoccupata. Non era mia madre, ma sentivo che mi voleva bene come una figlia. Lo stress accumulato della serata si fece sentire all'improvviso e scappai in camera mia piangendo. Più le grida di Sandra aumentavano, meno riuscivo a trattenermi, così mi rifugiai nella mia camera piangendo.
Dopo pochi minuti, Sandra bussò alla mia porta. Ero sdraiata sul letto, ancora con i miei vestiti sudati di una notte fatta di eccessi e di passioni erotiche mai provate in vita mia. Sandra cominciò ad accarezzarmi delicatamente i capelli, come fa una mamma quando vede il proprio figlio smarrito.
👩🏼SANDRA: Scusami Amanda, non volevo aggredirti in quel modo. Ero solo preoccupata.
Ti prego, Sandra, non fare così. Era questo quello che mi ripetevo nella mia mente. Quella sera avevo fatto mille sbagli, ma non potevo lasciare che Sandra si sentisse in colpa solo perché si era preoccupata per me. Mi girai di scatto e, piangendo, la abbracciai.

Il mio volto era appoggiato al suo petto e sentivo il suo cuore che batteva. Che bello, mi ricordava quello della mia mamma.

👩🏼SANDRA: Sono le cinque del mattino e penso che, se non è una cosa grave da chiamare la polizia, possiamo parlarne con calma domani. Sempre se ti fa piacere.
Risposi che non era necessario chiamare la polizia, ma riguardava il mio stupido comportamento. Sandra mi fece un sorriso e mi diede un bacio sulla fronte. Che labbra soffici che aveva Sandra e che buon profumo portava sempre con sé.
LA PROPOSTA:
👩🏼SANDRA: Domani, se ti fa piacere, possiamo trascorrere un po' di tempo insieme. Avevo intenzione di portarti da una mia amica che ha una Spa non tanto lontano dalla nostra città.

👩🏼SANDRA: Ok, affare fatto. Domani staremo insieme tutto il giorno, così potremo parlare di cosa ti è successo questa notte.
È strano come si possa passare dalla tristezza alla felicità in così poco tempo. Per un attimo, Sandra mi aveva fatto dimenticare la brutta serata che avevo avuto.
IL MAL DI TESTA:
Il giorno dopo mi svegliai con un forte mal di testa; mi dava fastidio persino il rumore di una mosca che volava a un miglio di distanza. Ma comunque, a parte questo dettaglio, la cosa non mi impedì di adempiere ai miei compiti quotidiani: dovevo preparare la colazione per la mia famiglia canadese.
Quella mattina, i bambini giocavano, urlavano e correvano come dei pazzi per tutta la casa. La mia testa chiedeva pietà, ma io andavo avanti ugualmente, sforzandomi di far finta di nulla. Sandra, sicuramente si era accorta che non mi sentivo bene quella mattina, quindi chiese ai bambini di smettere di fare rumore. Poi si avvicinò a me, mi pose le sue mani sulle spalle e mi disse:

Marcello, il marito di Sandra, mi saluta da lontano e invita i bambini a salire in auto. I bambini corrono giù per le scale, pronti ad andare a scuola con il papà.
Sandra è l'ultima ad uscire. Scende dalla scala con passo sensuale e il rumore dei tacchi fa quasi paura.
Ho imparato una cosa da questa esperienza: i tacchi sono il punto di forza di una donna.
👩🏼SANDRA: Amanda, vado anch’io con Marcello e i bambini a scuola. Devo parlare un minuto con la maestra.
👩🏽AMANDA: Ok, io finisco di sistemare la cucina e mi preparo.
Sandra si avvicina a me e mi dà un bacio sulla fronte, poi si gira su se stessa ed esce di casa.
TAC... TAC... TAC... Non avevo mai avuto dei tacchi che facevano quel tipo di rumore. Era un rumore così autoritario. Sandra di solito porta tacchi altissimi, se non sbaglio 14 cm, con la base larga e la punta molto fine.
TI STO ASPETTANDO, SANDRA:
Un'ora più tardi, sento arrivare l'auto. Il motore rimane acceso, sento la portiera che sbatte e la porta di casa aprirsi.
👩🏼SANDRA: NO, NO, SIETE UNA BRANCA DI IDIOTI! HO DETTO CHE NON SI POTEVA FARE COME VI PARE, MA DOVETE FARE ESATTAMENTE QUELLO CHE VI DICO IO. (Con tono di voce arrabbiata.)

Sandra lanciò il telefono sul divano.
👩🏼SANDRA: IDIOTI. (Con tono infastidito.)
👩🏽AMANDA: C'è qualche problema? Possiamo rimandare se vuoi.
👩🏼SANDRA: ASSOLUTAMENTE NO... (Con tono autoritario.)
👩🏼SANDRA: Pago i miei dipendenti profumatamente, quindi mi aspetto che risolvano loro il problema.
Sandra era una donna potente, aveva costruito un impero da sola. Se non ricordo male, tratta opere d'arte o una cosa del genere.

Stavo chiamando con il telefono di casa il cellulare di Benjamin, ma non mi rispondeva nessuno. Il mio cuore batteva forte, ero molto preoccupata. Non avevo sue notizie, il mio cellulare chi sa dove si trovava.
"Anche il cruscotto dell'auto di Sandra è rotto?”
Uscii di casa perché Sandra continuava a suonare il clacson. Avrei preferito rimanere al telefono sperando in una risposta da parte di Benjamin.
👩🏼SANDRA: Hai un aspetto molto stanco oggi, ma tranquilla. Quando torneremo da questo posto, sarai una persona nuova.
All'improvviso, Sandra mise una mano sulla mia gamba e mi sorrise (ancora quel sorriso malizioso). Durante il tragitto, Sandra parlava senza sosta, ma io ero assorta nei miei pensieri e guardavo fuori dal finestrino. È impressionante come il nostro cervello ci faccia notare alcuni piccoli dettagli. Ricordo ancora oggi che quella mattina, guardando fuori dal finestrino, continuavo a vedere Honda Civic ovunque, e la mia mente mi riportava subdolamente all'interno della Honda Civic del mio fidanzato.
Ricordo di AMANDA: "LIAM: adesso mettiti sopra di me..."
Ricordo di AMANDA: "AMANDA: AAAHHH...MMMMMM...sì, sì, così, mi piace, sì, sì, sì..."
Ricordo di AMANDA: "LIAM: lasciati andare e scatena la tua fantasia..."
Benjamin era un fidanzato premuroso, gentile e sapeva anche fare l'amore in modo fantastico, ma con Liama è stata passione pura. Mi aveva preso l'anima. Mi aveva girato e rigirato a suo piacimento dentro a quell'auto, era come se fossi stata una bambola gonfiabile disponibile a esaudire ogni sua richiesta e a sottomettermi ad ogni sua fantasia. Mentre pensavo ai miei errori, notai una cosa strana: anche il cruscotto dell'autovettura di Sandra era rotto. Certo, non era rovinato come il mio, ma la bocchetta dell'aria destra era sfondata, come se un tacco affilato ci fosse finito dentro.
👩🏼SANDRA: È stato Ethan...
👩🏽AMANDA: COSA! COME... Non capisco...
👩🏼SANDRA: Ho notato che stavi guardando la bocchetta dell'aria rotta.

"I CRUSCOTTI DELLE AUTO MI PARLANO."
Mentre Sandra mi stava spiegando come Ethan avesse rotto il cruscotto della sua autovettura, sentii una voce familiare: era il cruscotto che mi stava parlando. (Ok, amici, qui sto esagerando, ma è difficile spiegarvi esattamente cosa avevo realmente pensato in quel momento, quindi lasciatemelo esprimere in modo divertente.)
CRUSCOTTO: Non crederai a quello che ti sta dicendo, vero? Non è stato Ethan, ma è stata lei con la sua segretaria.
CRUSCOTTO: Perché fai quella faccia? Non l'hai capito che Sandra è lesbica?
All'improvviso la mia mente mi portò in un parcheggio. Era buio, ma non era tardi, forse le sei o le sette di pomeriggio, e fuori pioveva. Era inverno, si notava dai cappotti femminili che erano posati alla rinfusa sui sedili posteriori dell'auto. La musica di sottofondo si mischiava a dei leggeri gemiti di piacere. I finestrini erano appannati e sul cruscotto c'erano due mutandine femminili. Poi all'improvviso le vedo, le due donne. Una è Sandra, completamente nuda, e l'altra è Sophia, la segretaria di Sandra...
Sophia è bellissima, forse ha solo un paio di anni in più di me. Ha una carnagione bianca pallida, capelli ondulati di colore rosso rame e lentiggini sul volto che le danno un aspetto così angelico. E mentre la mia mente mi portava ad immaginare le mani di Sophia tra le gambe di Sandra, fui interrotta all'improvviso.
👩🏼SANDRA: Allora, mi vuoi dire cosa è successo ieri sera?
Rimasi in silenzio per qualche istante.
👩🏽AMANDA: Ho tradito il mio ragazzo con il suo migliore amico. (A voce bassa.)
Prima o poi dovevo raccontarlo a qualcuno, e decisi che sarebbe stato meglio affrontare questa cosa con una persona che mi voleva bene e che avrebbe sicuramente capito.
All'improvviso Sandra si fermò accanto a un marciapiede e mi guardò negli occhi, poi mi prese la mano e mi disse che capita di fare degli sbagli nella vita. Mi disse anche che dobbiamo imparare dai nostri errori per poterci migliorare e capire cosa veramente vogliamo dalla vita. Aspetta, aspetta, ero io quella che doveva essere consolata, questa sembra più una confessione. Lo sguardo di Sandra era rivolto verso il basso, un tipico segno di una persona sottomessa o dispiaciuta per qualche errore commesso.
Non potevo farmi sfuggire quella confessione; desideravo una confessione non tanto di spiegazione, ma non era per sapere gli affari suoi o per giudicarla. Era una specie di liberazione per me, come se volessi dire a me stessa che non ero l'unica donna ad aver fatto quello sbaglio.
“LO SBAGLIO DI SANDRA:”
Decisi che dovevo saperne di più.
AMANDA: Anche tu hai fatto lo stesso sbaglio che ho fatto io?
👩🏼SANDRA: Sì...
👩🏽AMANDA: Me ne vuoi parlare?
Sandra ripartì e girò l'auto per tornare a casa. Addio spa, addio benessere, sarà un'altra volta.
Ricordo che durante il ritorno a casa, Sandra rimase in silenzio per tutto il tragitto. Dovevo aver toccato una corda sensibile, o forse anche lei voleva confidarsi come volevo fare io.
ZUMMMMMM... (saracinesca del garage)
Tornammo a casa. Ricordo ancora che Sandra si buttò sul divano con il volto tra i cuscini. Mi sedetti accanto a lei e, come aveva fatto lei la sera prima, iniziai ad accarezzarla. La stanza era silenziosa, si sentiva solo di tanto in tanto il rumore del frigorifero che produce ghiaccio.
👩🏼SANDRA: Voglio morire...
👩🏽AMANDA: Ma che diavolo stai dicendo? Sandra, ricordati chi sei. Hai due bellissimi figli, un marito adorabile e una carriera rispettabile.
Dopo aver detto precisamente così a Sandra, ricordo di aver imparato una lezione importante nella mia vita: che tutti noi sbagliamo, chi più chi meno, ma lo facciamo tutti. Sandra aveva commesso un grosso errore, e l'aveva fatto per amore.
👩🏼SANDRA: Seguimi. (Con un tono di voce molto basso)
Mi prese per mano e mi portò nel suo ufficio. In realtà, Sandra aveva molti uffici, ma quello era privato, dove custodiva i suoi segreti professionali e personali. Vi faccio notare una cosa buffa: si era tolta le scarpe, quindi l'unico rumore che si sentiva in quel momento erano le mie nuove sneakers.
Entrammo nel suo ufficio. Mi fece sedere sulla sua poltrona di pelle e poi, con un gesto deciso, mi spostò di fronte alla sua scrivania.
Sandra era dietro di me e dal riflesso dello specchio che era di fronte a me, vidi che si avvicinò all'armadio che avevo alle spalle. Notai che cercava freneticamente tra dei fascicoli. Sembrava che il disordine in quell'armadio la infastidisse, quindi buttò tutto per terra e all'improvviso vidi spuntare una cassaforte.
“IL SEGRETO DELLA CASSAFORTE:”
Non riuscivo a distogliere lo sguardo e vidi dallo specchio estrarre da quella cassaforte una chiavetta USB. Pensai tra me e me che, sebbene fosse un oggetto piccolo, doveva contenere al suo interno un grosso segreto.
👩🏼SANDRA: Accendi il computer.
Accesi il Mac che era di fronte a me. Non si era ancora caricato il sistema operativo quando Sandra inserì subito la chiavetta USB. Le sue mani tremavano.

NICOLE: Dai Sandra, vieni qui...
👩🏼SANDRA: Ti amo...
NICOLE: Dillo ancora e ancora e ancora...
👩🏼SANDRA: Ti amo, ti amo, ti amo...
NICOLE: Ancora...
Vi ricordate quando vi avevo detto che la mia mente immaginava Sandra con Sophia all'interno dell'auto? Ebbene, ci avevo quasi azzeccato, ma non era Sophia la segretaria, bensì Nicole, la ragazza che accudiva i suoi figli prima di me. Praticamente devo dire grazie a Nicole se oggi sono ancora qui in Canada. Comunque, adesso avevo le prove: Sandra era lesbica.
Parlammo per qualche ora, poi mi incoraggiò ad andare dal mio fidanzato e spiegargli come erano andate realmente le cose.
Sandra mi aveva incoraggiato molto riguardo alla responsabilità, cosa che lei stessa non aveva fatto. Comunque, mi convinse e andai subito da Benjamin.
“CERCO IL PERDONO MA ARRIVA IL PECCATO:”
Corro fuori di casa, anzi volo, prendo l'autobus e mi reco da Benjamin. Sandra mi aveva caricato per bene, mi aveva fatto capire che se non volevo rimanere bloccata nel rimpianto, avrei dovuto reagire immediatamente.
Arrivo a destinazione, si aprono le porte e corro immediatamente a casa di Benjamin, ma quando arrivo vedo Benjamin e Liam litigare...
👩🏽AMANDA: Ehi, ehi! Ma che diavolo state facendo?
Mi metto in mezzo per separarli, sembrava che la lite stesse degenerando in una scazzottata.
👨🏽BENJAMIN: Amore, hai visto cosa ha fatto questo idiota?
Il mio sguardo si abbassa immediatamente.
👨🏽BENJAMIN: Guarda, ha rovinato la mia auto e tutto questo solo perché ieri sera il mio carissimo amico è andato a scoparsi una puttana.
👨🏼LIAM: Benjamin, ti ho detto che sono disposto a pagare i danni che ho provocato, quindi vedi di darti una calmata.
👨🏽BENJAMIN: Allora non lo capisci? Quella è l'auto con cui porto la mia ragazza a fare un giro e adesso mi da il voltastomaco pensare che si dovrà sedere su un sedile dove una troia ha scopato tutta la notte con te.
👨🏽BENJAMIN: E poi mi piacerebbe sapere che razza di troia è, una che non si toglie nemmeno le scarpe quando scopa in auto?
👨🏽BENJAMIN: Guarda, Amanda, che buchi ci sono sul cruscotto...
Benjamin apre la portiera per mostrarmi il danno che c'era sul cruscotto e all'improvviso eccolo ancora lì ad aspettarmi.
CRUSCOTTO: Ciao, Amanda, ti ricordi di me?
👩🏽AMANDA: Fanculo.
Mi avvicino alla portiera e la richiudo immediatamente, poi urlò.
👩🏽AMANDA: ADESSO BASTA LITIGARE COME DUE BAMBINI!
Ero andata da Benjamin con l'intenzione di raccontare il mio tradimento e spiegargli che se aveva il cruscotto bucato era colpa mia. Ma era diventato tutto difficile vedere il mio amore urlare in quel modo non mi faciliterà la cosa. Quindi rimasi in silenzio e feci finta di nulla.
