The Big 2025 Post!
🕑 Added 2025-01-02 06:26:41 +0000 UTCHappy New Year! Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!
2024 was definitely one of the years of all time. 2025 gonna be my year tho. In the words of Bilbo Baggins, 'I've put this off for far too long'.
SOS
The big reason a lot of you are here, other than butts. SOS is the shorthand for my scifi comic. Unlike where I said I'd surely begin in 2024, I am starting this year, and soon. I'd say in the first quarter. It's a long-form comic, scifi space opera with a set beginning and end. It will be rated R for adult themes and violence but nothing exorbitantly graphic or lewd. The plan is to release pages to my sites/Discord first, and publicly after. Speaking of which...
Discord
Just as I said I would in 24 but didn't, I will be making a Discord server for my comics and stuff. It will also be the primary reward-delivery platform. I'm lurking on a LOT of other artists' servers, so I think I have some good examples of how to organize it to what I want. I understand most people are probably in like, a thousand servers already, so I plan to keep it simple, brief, and focused on my work and we'll see where it goes from there.
Tiers
Reworking basically my entire workflow and goals will mean adjusting the tiers...both in rewards a little, and price a little. I've noticed many other artists have their lowest tiers at 2 USD for tips/sketches and 6 USD for HD, comics and the like... I've had my same 1/5USD prices set for ... 10 years now, and in that time, I've never raised it--I'm hoping people will see the +1 dollar extra as an understandable adjustment and won't mind...but I also understand that every dollar counts, so if it's an issue for some folks, let me know and I can try to reconsider and hope that the 1/5 won't bite me in the butt... 10 and 25 remain the same, but admittedly I've been falling short on a few of the rewards there, so an increase wouldn't feel justified. The rewards should be as:
$2 - Tip Jar/sketches. Non-coloured(B+W), web-res sketches, shared early. Still can vote on some polls.
$6 - HD files for all illustrations, comics, extras posted early. Voting on most polls.
$10 - PSD files for all illustrations and work, albeit a lower-than-work-resolution. *.clip files for comic pages as well, If people are interested? Access to high-tier streams, which I know I've been lacking on, but believe I can do more reliably this year than previous, due to kiddo less demanding.
$25 - Extras such as cameos in backgrounds will be actually more frequent and easier to do given there a lot of scenes and stuff where that can happen in the main scifi comic, and sometimes the extra comics. Also access to occasional, special-level input posts and discussions such as the direction of comics, work, or others. I was also thinking of adding something else to this tier, like an art-feedback option. I can't do one-on-one teaching, but the next best thing would be like, redlines or assitance with artwork. Something like 2x a month you can submit to me something you're working on and need some help with, or a fresh set of eyes on. This would be easier done in the Discord server.
Bonus Comics
So the plan is for me to run the main scifi comic and a bonus comic at the same time. These adult comics would make the adult portion of the graphic content, seperate and optional from the main story so it could remain more SFW. But this category would see both scifi related and other comics, like one-offs and Predators and such. They would just be done in a more loose and forgiving style to accommodate the two comics being run. It would take time away from some other types of art and projects, but I think would be rewarding in its own way.
Streams
The way I see streams working is split three ways -- SFW and game-stuff would be on Twitch, while NSFW art on Picarto and/or Discord server, along with the private stream stuff for the higher tiers. I'll experiment a bit with these, but I would like to start with a goal of at least 1 public stream per week, and at least 1, ideally 2, high-tier for the 10+25 tier streams. I'll see what's easiest for everyone, either Picarto or Discord on that regard, but it's a reward I've been most meaning to get back on the ball with.
I know it's hard to schedule these or plan in advance, so I'll wait on any kind of promise with that just yet--but the goal would be a consistent schedule for both. I figured the inconsistent schedule had one advantage, that of being more people could possibly make them, if the normal times disallowed it.
Anyway, thank you all SO much for reading, being patient and supporting me! Welcome to 2025, let's build some worlds and stories maybe?? That'd be cool!

O MY GOD. Like for... yes 10 years (geez) I was watching this legend to draw. And boy, still on top. Art style, visuals and really good stories. What else can you wish for. And this year we will witness the fruits of this man's work. And Fluff, you're about to deliver us your masterpiece, so I really DON'T MINE ONE extra dollar. You deserve it. Good luck and can't wait

Iβm not a big fan of Discord, but I know why some folks prefer it for interaction and distribution. Iβll see how it plays out here.

Adding art feedback to the 25 tier could be useful for me since I recently picked up art and my own sci-fi story. Needless to say I have a lot to improve upon. Could we also ask for feedback on stories, writing, brainstorm ideas? Just a thought.

Happy New Year Fluff! Cant Wait to see what SOS is all about. I'm kindof a big fan of space. Cowboy bebop, outlaw star, firefly... i grew up with that kindof cosmic wonder. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.

Does that mean ARA ref sheet coming soon ? π

Seconded. As always, you're free to make whatever changes you feel you need to for pricing, but I'll just say that I have recently gone through my own memberships to do cleanup and a lot of those folks that bumped their prices ended up getting chopped. I'm sure there are other folks in the same boat as me.

Thanks again for all that you do fluff I appreciate it all

Happy new year Fluff. I look forward to what you have in store for us this year. I can only imagine how long you've been working on and building up to SOS so I'm excited to see where it goes. Also, I really like the ideas for the discord server and art-feedback. Iβm sure a few people, myself included, could use a few pointers here and there. If you decide to implement it.

Happy new years Fluff!! :3 Out of curiosity though, wdym by βlower-than-work resolutionβ? :0

Are the bonus comics only linked to the 25 rewards? Or it can be for any tiers?

Can't wait to see what you're crafting Fluff, happy new year to you and your family

I highly recommend not changing the pricing on your $1 and $5 tiers. You have many long-term supporters in them. Changing them just because other people have theirs slightly higher will leave a bitter taste in some people's mouth. Instead, you should grandfather these tiers, and make new $2 and $6 ones. That way the new supporters use the new tiers. I'm very glad to hear you will be opening up more cameo slots. I was in your $25 tier for years, and have only seen a cameo opening once I belive. Also, please consider commissions. Many people, including me, have been waiting a long time. I've joined over 4 years ago waiting for a chance. I was in the $25 tier for years, thinking this would give me priority access. I've never seen an opening. I changed to the $5 tier recently because of this. I would even join an exclusive $100+ tier just to have commission access.

I can't wait. The tidbits of lore you've put out are already quite interesting!

I'm feeling confident in you. So confident that I've raised my teir. (Also to maybe snag one of those camos. :3)

I think the increases to the tiers would be fine. I know I am already going to be going through an rearranging my subscriptions, they got a little out of hand... That aside, I hope you will have a good year, and cannot wait to see what you do next. I'll wait until you make the tier adjustments to adjust anything on my end, cause I know Patreon sometimes just kicks people off the tiers if they no longer exist. Though it sounds like you will edit them directly rather than making new ones.

I wish you only the best in the new year. I discovered you and your art just a few weeks ago, and i really love it! And even if i really like all the NSFW Stuff and it was the reason to join your Patreon, i would be very interested in the the S.O.S. Comic because i love a good story. And in my opinion, the second Predators had very cool story and worldbuilding elements and it would be awesome to see your story skills again ^^ Keep it up and stay well, i can't wait for your Discord and all the incredible Art that will arive this year and im happy to pay one Dollar more, if it helps you :) And to everyone else too, a happy new year :3
