the reason why sage said that is not because she did not want to cure cancer, Its the fact that at the end of the day she is a black woman and they would have never listed or give her the funding to do better in the world so she's like 'what's the point if they are not going to listen' thats why she gave that story about her grandma because if they listened and did not underestimate her, she would have been alive. This show shows you alot about how complicated the supes and humans relationship are, Its not about they should kill all supes or killing all humans. It shows how alot of characters (supes and humans) are navigating in a world where they are exploited and pruned. Obviously , the bad guys in the boys are vought and some of its supes but it shows how people can also be extremist on the other side of the coin (Butcher). It is a much complicated than it seems especially when there are good supes in just a evil system.
