He-Man & Skeletor - concept art

Here's somethin a little different than the normal - I wanted to give a go at doing my own take on He-Man & Skeletor - nothin too crazy, but I wanted to see if I could bring some different energy to them. I've actually done quite a bit with the Masters of the Universe characters, I designed the Mondo toys and I also did a portrait series, but I always stuck to the designs and silhouettes pretty closely.
Skeletor here is more of a witch doctor type look mixed with some native american design elements. He-Man is more of a high fantasy/future/medieval take - I like the idea of him using laser guns and swords so I wanted to make it maybe seem less weird when he's shooting the gun(but I also love him using the gun with his straight up barbarian look because of how silly it is).
The approach I took with this is a continuation of how I'm moving through the Symphony of the Night piece's style but a bit simpler aimed at quick concept art work.
I hope you like the style, it's been fun to play with so far - once I feel I have something nailed down I'll do a walkthrough of how I'm using this to build out ideas.

Man, these are just beautiful. Your design skills are out of this world. I'd really like to hear your take on design some day, not how you come up with concepts, but how you optimize shapes, lines, etc - everything just works so well together and is so dynamic. Amazing work dude.

Man the texture is so raw I love it so much. The grain and texture layering is kick-ass as hell. I love pale violets on Skeletor, it's a great scheme and the movement of his cape is freakin crazy. Does He-Man have a little braid on a side or am I projecting my love for braids a little bit too much?
