First of all, hello and thank you to all of you who just recently joined my patreon, it's amazing to be able to do work like this without a client needing to sign off on everything and the freedom you've given me through your support is such a gift to me. So, yeah, thank you!
Today I'm sharing the sketch for the latest big painting I want to start. Since I was a kid I've wanted to create something related to Final Fantasy 6, one of my favorite rpgs from the snes. I've tried to do officially licensed work for the game through print companies but square doesn't really approve artists doing their games for print through licenses, so here we are! I'm very excited to get going on this, I wanted it to feel like an old school poster you might get from a strategy guide or maybe just a cover to the guide itself. The gold on the edges is going to be ornate framing, the red will likely stay some kind of textured look unless I can think of something cooler for it.
Anyway, hope you like it so far and, of course, thanks again for your support!
Dave

You are killing it with these retro video game paintings! I love the composition and colors in this one. Thanks for sharing your process videos. I always enjoy seeing and learning how others create works of art.

Dude, I can learn a lot about composition and hierarchy by looking at you work. I can't wait to see the end result

I love the composition here. FFVI is my absolute favorite. I'm glad you're doing this piece despite all the hype for the FFVII remake.

Is that a skunk-ape, or maybe a sheep-squatch
