113 HxH: The Strongest Assassin
🕑 Added 2024-11-10 07:09:59 +0000 UTCWith the integration of the Internet into society, all sectors, even assassins, have found their spaces online. Different professions have established exclusive online hubs.
Assassins, for instance, use a specific site to receive assignments, accessible only to Hunters.
Then, there are intelligence networks for information brokers, appearing vast but concentrated in just a few forums where intel agents gather. Those in need of information post commissions there, much like how assassination contracts are listed. Information specialists can then take on these assignments, exchanging intel and resources.
Typically, the completion rate of these tasks is stable, with occasional fluctuations. But on this particular night, many intel brokers noticed an unusual trend: assignments were completed one after another, almost instantly.
"This is strange, over a hundred assignments have been handled overnight."
"There's no way a single person managed all this."
"It's definitely a coordinated team effort."
"And none of them are new operators. One of the resolved commissions was pending for years."
The following morning, Kaizen awoke, stretching as he pulled back the curtains. Sunlight poured in, illuminating the room, while a stream of data from Altan flooded his mind. Kaizen's eyes widened.
"In a single night, you pulled in over a billion jenny? So information gathering can be that profitable?"
A billion jenny isn't a small amount, even for a Nen user of Kaizen's level. He'd taken on assassination contracts before, and in those jobs, taking down just one person could fetch around 100 million jenny. Killing a target might sound straightforward, but intelligence gathering—finding their location, understanding their abilities, and assessing their surroundings—takes time and effort.
In contrast, with Altan's abilities, Kaizen could simply sit and meditate while Altan collected intel, amassing over a billion jenny without breaking a sweat.
"With Altan's tech, no one could trace her IP. It's a safe, anonymous income source."
Though Kaizen didn't crave wealth, he saw potential in creating an intelligence network, centered around Altan's capabilities.
After a brief thought, he dismissed Altan's presence and headed to the living room.
"Morning, brother!" Nina greeted, already up and waiting.
"What would you like for breakfast?" she asked.
Kaizen thought for a moment. "Bread, beef, some fruit. Double the usual."
In this world, it's often said, "The more you eat, the stronger you get."
Though not an absolute rule, those with greater strength do consume more. The energy demands of a seasoned fighter are far higher than those of a regular person. High-ranking fighters in Heavens Arena, for example, are almost all hearty eaters. Even for Nen users, the need for physical stamina is substantial.
Nina nodded, then looked at Shizuku. "Sister Shizuku, what do you want for breakfast?"
"Bread," Shizuku replied hesitantly. Born in Meteor City, she was accustomed to scarcity, so even bread felt like a luxury.
"Wouldn't you like something more?" Nina asked, glancing at Kaizen.
Kaizen nodded. "Nina, give Shizuku the same breakfast as yours."
"Got it." Nina called the kitchen, ordering for everyone. Soon after, there was a knock at the door, and breakfast arrived. Shizuku's eyes sparkled.
"This is what the outside world is like?" she murmured, awed at the ease of access to food. In Meteor City, she'd never seen food arrive so effortlessly.
Nina pushed the cart over to the dining table, unloading each dish. Polar Bear even had its own portion.
As Kaizen started eating, he mused over Altan's capabilities. Altan not only accessed vast amounts of information online but could also learn practical skills like cooking and cleaning.
"Cleaning isn't necessary, but knowing how to cook could be handy," he thought.
There was also the issue of connecting Altan to a mobile network. Kaizen didn't want to rely on Altan's abilities constantly, so he considered a setup with mobile network access. Altan could bypass a phone's barriers, creating an anonymous connection with no data charges and leaving no digital trace.
However, a special phone would be needed to house Altan's abilities.
