049 HxH: Tombbound Power
🕑 Added 2024-10-06 10:47:41 +0000 UTCFeeling the surging power in his body, Ronnel couldn't wait to return to Heavens Arena, and let Bisky formulate the most suitable training plan based on his current situation, allowing him to familiarize himself with, utilize, and fully master this newfound power.
Ronnel believed that once he fully grasped this power, the only gap between him and Chrollo would be the experience and near-death battle instincts. And even that gap could be bridged at Heavens Arena.
In addition to the pure Nen energy, Ronnel also discovered some other intriguing things.
One that particularly caught his interest was a Hunter's Nen ability:
[Upgrade Game]
Effect: Treat the world like a game, with all humans and monsters acting as wild monsters. By killing them, the user gains experience points, upgrading themselves in the process. Each level up makes the user stronger, increasing their aura and Nen abilities.
Restriction: As the user's level increases, they can only gain experience by hunting higher-level wild monsters. Lower-level monsters provide minimal experience based on the difference in power.
In essence, it's a Nen ability based on game mechanics. Anyone who's played RPGs would understand—defeat monsters, level up.
It's clear the Hunter who developed this ability must have been a gaming fanatic during their lifetime.
For Ronnel, this ability offered a way to maximize the value of his enemies.
By defeating them, Ronnel gained valuable experience points. And even after their death, he could squeeze some more benefit out of them. A perfect cycle of extracting value.
In addition to this ability, Ronnel found numerous skill books related to martial arts. Many were for beginners, some for intermediate users, and there was even one advanced.
It seemed that this Hunter, equally talented as Killua and Gon, had been killed before he could truly develop.
After some synthesis, Ronnel managed to gather four high-level martial arts skills, but still fell short of reaching the perfect level.
Taking stock of his gains, two days passed in a blink, and Ronnel returned to Heavens Arena.
"Master, I'm back, and I brought you a lot of gifts."
"I told you not to call me master—it makes me feel old... but what did you bring?"
In a luxurious room on the 200th floor, Ronnel reunited with everyone, bringing back special souvenirs he had bought at the airport.
Well, they were certainly more expensive than those found in most places.
"Gems! You really know how to pick them!"
Bisky's eyes sparkled as she admired the two crystal-clear gems in the small box. She was quite pleased.
"They're just a bit small," she remarked, but with a satisfied smile.
Yes, they were small, but the price had nearly wiped out Ronnel's savings. Still, apart from Bisky, he didn't forget anyone else.
For Shizuku, Ronnel brought a set of rings, fingers, and earrings. Her expression remained as indifferent as ever, but Ronnel could tell she was happy with the gift.
For Wing, Ronnel picked up a sharp-looking casual suit, and even Zushi received a high-quality set of workout clothes.
The gifts did their magic. At least, Bisky was in an excellent mood and agreed to devise a new training plan for Ronnel without hesitation after examining his condition.
The next morning, even though Ronnel hadn't rested properly, Bisky dragged him out of bed to begin his training.
"It's not uncommon for Nen users to suddenly gain a burst of aura, like you."
"Quite a few people have experienced this. Some gained power through special adventures, some through fulfilling certain conditions with their Nen, or by using restrictions and oaths."
"In your case, it seems you belong to the former group. I've examined your physical condition. Your power is more solid and stable than the average person who gained strength through ordinary adventures."
"For cases like this, Shingen-Ryu martial arts has detailed records on how to fully master such power."
(T/N: Shingen-ryu is a school of kung fu. Isaac Netero was its grandmaster prior to his demise.)
"For the next few days, you'd better prepare yourself. This power wasn't earned by your own hard work, so if you want to use it with ease, you'll have to train harder! I won't go easy on you!"
Bisky wore one of the gems Ronnel had given her, waving her hand in front of his face.
"Five!" Ronnel quickly called out the number on Bisky's raised fingers, thumping his chest in confidence.
"Master, go ahead! Train me as hard as you want—I can handle it!"
"Heh? It seems this sudden power has gone to your head. Let me, your master, snap you back to reality!"
With that, Bisky's high-pitched voice rang out, signaling the start of Ronnel's hellish training—more brutal than ever before.
Time flew by unnoticed, and in the blink of an eye, two months had passed.
In the same luxurious room on the 200th floor, Ronnel stood in front of the mirror, admiring his hardened and handsome features.
In two months, a lot can happen—but some things can also be forgotten.
