Phinks picked up a strange werewolf mask and jammed it on his face. "Heh! It actually fits."
Nearby, Shalnark casually kicked away a staff member whose neck had been snapped. He glanced over the event's schedule lying on a nearby table.
"It looks like these costumes are part of some masquerade event planned for later."
While Shalnark browsed the schedule, Feitan stood impatiently at the door. "This isn't the banquet hall. Let's find the right spot."
"Wait, Feitan!" Phinks called out, holding up a pharaoh mask. "Check this out. It's kinda cool, don't you think?"
Feitan shot Phinks a withering glance, clearly unimpressed.
"Feitan, hold on," Shalnark urged, trying to prevent his teammate from making any rash moves.
"Outside are high-ranking officials from the V5 countries. If we burst in unprepared, it'll get messy."
"Are you scared?" Feitan taunted, his voice low and menacing.
Shalnark smirked.
"If I were scared, I wouldn't be here." He shook the schedule in his hand. "I've got a plan—something that'll let Phinks have his fun and help us achieve our goal. Plus..."
He grinned mischievously. "There are supposed to be several of the Seven Beauties here. And we're thieves, after all."
Feitan gave him a look. "Robbery would be easier."
"Maybe," Shalnark admitted with a shrug, "but trying something new could be interesting."
"Fine. You handle the details."
Inside the Banquet Hall
The banquet hall was filled with luxurious delicacies, all spread across a long buffet table in traditional Western style. Every type of fruit, wine, and pastry imaginable was on display. Even symbols of wealth—like crystal radishes and electric bananas—adorned the table.
Amidst the chatter of guests and the clinking of wine glasses, the atmosphere reached a lively crescendo.
"Distinguished guests!" The host, smiling warmly, stepped onto the stage, drawing everyone's attention.
"To celebrate Princess Anna, we've prepared a special event!"
With a clap of his hands, the doors opened, and staff in bizarre masks and costumes wheeled in several carts. The carts carried racks of masks and costume pieces, arranged neatly for the guests.
The young attendees looked at the strange masks with curious expressions.
"Tonight's event is themed around knights!" the host announced dramatically.
"The rules are simple: each guest will choose a mask and costume that best suits them. Once masked, we'll play several mini-games designed to reveal the true character of a knight!"
The host smiled as the crowd murmured in excitement.
"And the guest who displays the greatest knightly spirit will have the honor of dancing with Princess Anna herself!"
A wave of excitement rippled through the hall. Ronnel noticed the subtle glint in Princess Anna's eyes, and a frown tugged at his lips.
"Under the masks, no one will know your true identity," the host added cheerfully. "Feel free to express yourself to the fullest!"
As soon as the host finished, the once-polite chatter turned into something far more competitive.
Ronnel could see it clearly—many of the attendees had been resentful of Kaelen's privileged status. Now, with masks to conceal them, they were eager to let loose.
Even Princess Anna, it seemed, was hoping to see if the younger generation of Mimbo Republic's elite were truly fools beneath their polished exteriors.
Ronnel sighed. "Knights?" he thought to himself. "Sorry, but these guys don't deserve that name."
As he reflected on the situation, a servant approached and gestured politely for him to follow.
"This way, sir," the servant said, leading him toward a private dressing room.
