"There's no way someone with such abilities will show up," one man scoffed.
"It'd be impossible... ."
As evening settled over the Cruz Cemetery, three figures waited patiently in the fading light, their focus sharp and unwavering.
Ronnel and his companions sat poised, their attention locked on a gleaming cluster of purple crystals: the Amethyst Grape Crystal.
Finally, when the slanted rays of the setting sun kissed the horizon—
"Cheng!"
The seven orbs of the amethyst crystal rang out like wind chimes, clinking together with a delicate sound. At that moment, a radiant burst of violet light flashed from the cluster—
"Shua!"
Without hesitation, Ronnel's hands shot out. With nimble precision, he plucked the grapes off the vine before the brilliance could fade. In his hands, the crystal still shimmered, dazzling even in the twilight.
"It's beautiful," Ronnel murmured, mesmerized.
Even after witnessing the Scarlet Eyes of Kurapika, one of the rarest wonders in the world, Ronnel couldn't help but admire the ethereal beauty of the amethyst grapes.
"Give it to me! Give it to me!"
Bisky, who had been standing on edge the entire time, lit up with excitement. She snatched the treasure from Ronnel's grasp, giggling in delight the moment it touched her hands.
"Hehehe..."
Ronnel stifled a grin as he discreetly reached for his phone, snapping a photo of Bisky in her unguarded, giddy state.
"Gotcha."
He saved the picture triumphantly. Bisky, still basking in the glow of her prize, paid him no mind.
Outside the Cemetery
In a nearby town, a young man named Kent paced impatiently, his hands folded behind his back. His sharp gaze turned toward the hulking figure beside him.
"Master, the sun has set," Kent reported.
The man, clad in a fine cloak, nodded slowly. "The Amethyst Grape Crystal must've been picked by now. Send a few men to guard the gates. If anyone leaves with the crystal, follow them."
"Yes, but what if they hide it?" Kent asked warily.
The young master's expression hardened.
"The radiance of that crystal can't be concealed. Anyone carrying it will glow with a strange aura." He turned to the large man beside him.
"Anluke, I'll leave this to you."
Anluke, the burly Nen user, gave a confident nod. "Don't worry, young master. My ability will sniff out who has it."
Anluke's Nen ability allowed him to interpret emotions through facial expressions. If he saw joy or satisfaction on someone's face, he could sense the underlying reason. It was a skill similar to Pakunoda's memory-reading ability, though with limitations.
"But if they're good at hiding their emotions or wear a mask?" Kent asked.
Anluke grinned. "Then the ability fails. But most people can't mask joy when holding such a treasure."
The young master nodded. "Perfect. That crystal is as good as ours."
A Suspicious Trio Emerges
Night crept on as Kent and Anluke waited near the cemetery gate, disguised in plain clothes. They lingered in the shadows, observing anyone who came or went.
Just as boredom began to settle in, a curious trio emerged from the cemetery gates.
The first was a young man—around seventeen or eighteen—dressed in a sleek black trench coat, his expression cool and unreadable.
The second was a young woman with round glasses perched on her nose. There was something fierce about her despite her petite frame.
The last one was hard to miss—a blonde, pigtailed girl wearing a frilly princess dress. A mischievous grin spread across her face.
Kent's eyes narrowed, but he didn't spot any telltale glow.
"Nothing unusual," he muttered, turning away.
But Anluke lingered, his gaze fixed on the blonde girl's smirk. His pupils shrank. "The Amethyst Grape Crystal!"
He quickly lowered his head, hiding his surprise from anyone nearby. "Got it."
Anluke clenched his fists in excitement. "They have it, but they're using space-based Nen to hide it."
Kent gave a subtle nod, understanding the situation immediately. With a quick hand gesture, he signaled his men to follow the trio discreetly.
Anluke had gleaned from Bisky's smile that she was the one holding the treasure, but he couldn't determine how or where she had stashed it. That limitation gnawed at him.
Both he and Kent concluded that the three must be space-type Nen users—clever enough to conceal the crystal in a pocket dimension. The trio's youthful appearance made them easy to underestimate, but Kent knew better.
The Chase Begins
Kent's team shadowed the trio from a safe distance. They moved silently through the dimly lit streets, careful not to alert their targets.
Anluke whispered to Kent, "They've hidden the crystal well, but we'll make them slip. All we need is one mistake."
Kent smirked. "They won't get far. It's just a matter of time."
Anluke and Kent knew that treasures like the Amethyst Grape Crystal weren't secured by luck—they were stolen through wit and willpower. And as far as they were concerned, these kids weren't ready for the game they had entered.
