RE4 Randomizer - January 2026 patch

There is a new patch available which has many new options and improvements:
β’ Now the randomizer can load and save custom setting profiles using the new controls added for it, and from now on, these profile files will be compatible with all future randomizer updates.
β’ Portuguese and Japanese were added as languages for the interface (at 'Misc. options' tab). There is also an option to cycle through different colors.
β’ There is a new tab "Enemy Settings B" with sliders to set the ratios for all non-ganado enemy types. You can also set how many of these enemies can spawn per room too.
β’ For the door rando, a new room is available (Siege tower). This was originally an unused, unfinished beta room, which now has functional door triggers and some enemies too.
Other changes for the door randomizer are:
β’ Simplified logs/easier to read. Now all logs are located in "Seedlogs" folder.
β’ All triggers/panels/cranks in both rooms of Ashley section (r20d/r20e) work correctly when playing as Leon, and the orange entry door that's usually locked now is a working door.
β’ Other areas enabled are the Laser room and the Wrecking ball room. For the second, a trigger was added to be able to climb up to the elevated area for backtracking.
β’ The false bottom room, which is seen only as a cutscene in regular game, is also a working room with a single exit.
β’ The elevator leading to Saddler that was a dead end in previous patch now will lead to a random area.
β’ There is an option to enable or disable Saddler boss encounter (for Assignment Leon mode only).
β’ The underground passage that usually leads to the graveyard now will always lead to Saddler boss fight (if it's enabled).
β’ Two doors that would be disabled after events (Verdugo boss area entry door and Prison entry door with Ashley present) now will work at all times.
β’ The crushers at novistador cave will also work as intended at all times, even if the exit elevator has been used.
β’ The side of the door that connects the Bingo room with Mendez house path is temporarily disabled. The boat at the lake and the cabinet trigger to check on Luis will also stay disabled.
β’ Some specific rooms (as Salazar boss area) will only be available if Assignment Leon is disabled to prevent softlocks.
β’ A new sound effect was added for the main menu when playing Assignment Leon mode. There is an option to disable this in 'Doors' tab.
Other changes:
β’ There is an option to set directly the total amount of yellow herbs that should be given per run ('Items' tab). I recommend to adjust this based on the Leon starting HP setting you set. Besides these, there is also another option to set Ashley's starting HP too.
β’ Fixes for bugged buttons of the interface not loading correctly (at Inventory tab) and crashes when backtracking to the first room of the game with Ashley following.
β’ There is an option to move the enemies away from the exit door at Bingo room (for day and night versions).

Down below you should find the zip file to download, and a document with the instructions to install the mod.
It's recommended to delete the old RE4_PC_Randomizer folder before extracting the new one, because many folder names and files were changed.
For people having issues with x3daudio file I recommend to whitelist the whole Resident Evil 4 folder in your antivirus settings then extract all the files again.

Hello. Dead enemies are usually put in places the game needs specific enemies to be that can't be replaced by bosses. It happens if you don't select any ganado enemy type (from Villagers to Super Salvador on the list)

Hi, you can turn that off pressing F1 in game then under Trainer-ESP tab, untick "Show side info".

Thanks again for continually making this better and more fun!! I was trying to run the enemy pool just with mutated krausers and verdugos however when I uncheck everything other then that I just get a bunch of ganado's that are already dead lol. I'm assuming those particular enemies are hardlined and cant be changed so they are just being eliminated but I'm not sure lol?

Hmm. That .log file went to the zip accidentally, I didn't notice, so thanks for letting me know. I will reupload the zip file without it, just in case. Even while I doubt that file by itself could cause any trouble since it just stores the logs for the latest launch, it's better to keep things clean I guess. I need to ask something tho. You say you had to delete these two files, run the game once, then copy the dll file back again? If that's the case, where are you getting the file back from? What I mean is that the dinput8.dll file is always the same, so not sure why it would cause issues now. Unless there was some kind of conflict with tweaks config files (dinput8.ini and re4_tweaks/trainer.ini + imgui.ini) which can also be deleted instead if the game does not launch.

Again, based off my last issues with extracting. i think you can remove the dinput.dll and .log file from the zip for easier install regarding past trainer files. I tried to update and needed to delete both before the game would launch. There was also 2 clicks in the trainer i needed to overwrite back to normal but ya. will test this new build soon

Hi, when you open the randomizer program, there is a button "Restore Game" which sets enemies, items, doors and such to the default values. (If you removed the rando you'll have to extract it again temporarily to use that function)

How do I reset everything to the original settings? Removing the rando didn't work. What do I need to do to reset the game to vanilla? And it runs fantastically on Linux.

Hi, could you send me by dm a screenshot of the contents of the Bin32 folder of the game to check if the files there where correctly copied? I also have to ask for your pc specs and if you have HD Project mod installed or some other mod.

hey man, thanks for all the hard work. i tried setting this up today but my game keeps crashing every time i launch the game basically as soon as i launch it. i tried the methods listed on your extended FAQ but none of them worked :( i tried to force start the game in window mode through steam launch commands but that didnt work either. if you have any suggestions im open to it.

Hey I was wondering if it was possible we could get this mod working with Archipelago. This would be such a fun game to run with a group in archipelago.

Hi, I'm not very familiar with this particular error so I did a Google search. It seems something similar happens with some other games too. One thing they recommend is opening the game directly from the installation folder. So, for RE4, you should go to 'Resident Evil 4/Bin32" folder, right click 'Bio4.exe' then 'Run as Administrator'. You could also try closing Steam and opening it again as Admin.
