VOTE: Help me pick an emergency playthrough!

If you recall that Chrono Trigger playthrough I did last year, that was actually a series I had recorded far in advance, a banked playthrough which we could have in our back pocket just in case something unexpected came up that prevented us recording new episodes for a while (like having to move).
I want to get another "in case of emergency" playthrough recorded so we have that safety fallback again, and y'all are going to help me choose the game!
Keep in mind:

The winner of this vote is going to be a banked playthrough! There's no way of knowing how long it might be until we need it. It's entirely possible that the winner of this vote may not show up on the channel for years. So when you're picking games below, be sure to only select ones that you do want to see someday, but are willing to wait for.

Couldn't disagree more after playing all the routes. I actually thought Blue Lions was the weakest of the routes by a long shot, since it kind of backtracks on a lot of the setup that's established in part 1. Really, the correct answer is Cindered Shadows. Give a nice little taste of the core cast, contained in a standalone story that's only 7 chapters long instead of the 17+ you'd be getting even from CF

Lots of good options. One thing to consider: with Splatoon, you should cover Octo Expansion (the DLC for Splatoon 2). It is, hands-down, the best single player content of the entire Splatoon series so far, in gameplay but particularly in story. If you don't include it in a Splatoon Trilogy playthrough, maybe throw it in as a bonus playthrough not too long afterwards (it's not too long).

Definitely Blue Lions - it has that classic Fire Emblem feel with the.. "most satisfying" story, for lack of a better descriptor. When I say that I had almost written it off, I meant that Dan had replied to me when I suggested it and said that the game was a bit of a long one lol.

I'd like to see a video on New Frame Plus on Origami King. It's the first Paper Mario game where the characters and environments actually looked like paper, not just 2D, and it would be neat to see a breakdown of how they did that.

Not on the list, but you should do Beyond Good And Evil. A remaster was recently released, so it should work on modern systems.

Prye is -definitely- what I think would be the best emergency playthrough. It's really weird but also very interesting! Last Guardian is also a good recommendation, and Super Paper Mario is great. Metroid Prime Remastered is also a good choice, though I would prefer it as just a regular playthrough on the channel, and not hidden away for years. Personally I'd looove to see you play through Splatoon Trilogy Story Mode, but I'm not sure how well it would do. It has the benefit of being five total playthroughs though, which is a lot of emergency coverage! As for ones I think wouldn't work well, that's definitely Earthbound. It's nostalgic for a lot of people, but it's hella polarizing. Vaguely cute but also very unpleasant and disturbing. Like the mass suicide at the end. It gets really not nice! Earthbound gets a strong emotional response, but that's either very positive or very negative. Something so polarizing isn't great for an emergency playthrough, IMO.

It's even harder then that, because the one you want most, you don't actually want to win, because you won't be able to see it until something goes "wrong". It's like trying to pick your second favorite...

I mean, "emergency" playthrough doesn't necessarily have to mean something bad happened. It could be a case of Dan and Carrie moving again, or going on vacation for an extended period of time, or... you get the idea.

There's good things on that list, but I do not want them to end up sitting in the "maybe never" pile. Chrono Cross feels thematically right, and will be a good thing to show up in case of trouble. Everything else I like I really want to see sooner then (BREAK GLASS) and then I'd be wanting something BAD to happen so... *checks earthbound as well* ... I could do with not seeing this yet, and enjoying that it exists....

I voted for everything except Forbidden West because I want this to be a weekly let's play like the first one. FE Three Houses would be good since I don't think it would be in super high demand, although I do worry about how you would manage the 3-4 storylines and the video length since it's a lot of long battles. I love it with all my heart, but I understand why it hasn't been played yet.

A story mode play through of all three splatoon games would be great, except you have to play splatoon 2 Octo expansion because it kinda the real story mode of Splatoon 2 and has a huge influence on 3’s story mode
