I posted something similar on the youtube video. Will Smith's character is wrong in this movie. Not all humans would have saved the little girl. I have met people who don't care about kids, or anyone other than themselves. I am also high functioning autistic. I don't always remember to smile when I should. It made me sad that you dismissed that lady's humanity when she didn't smile when you thought she should. That should tell you why she trusts robots more than people. Robots don't hate you or question if you're even alive when you don't smile on time. A robot of sufficient complexity is for all intents and purposes a human, just one not made of flesh. Would you want to own a human to give you a massage and wash your dishes? I certainly hope not.

I find it a bit funny how this movie "ruined" I Robot for Hollywood, even though it desperately needs a remake. Susan Calvin is meant to be the protagonist of the story, but they needed a Will Smith action movie to get butts in seats. I, Robot is absolutely ripe for a proper miniseries adaptation now: AI hype is at a peak, robot tech has progressed massively in the last 20 years (could even have practical robots in the movie); and Susan Calvin is Hollywood's dream character of a smart, confident, capable female protagonist. Plus there is the Harlan Ellison/Isaac Asimov illustrated Screenplay just waiting to be filmed.
