Yeah the yellow Mystique eyes at the end seems like a weird addition. It changed a straight forward "oh shit now he's going to be experimented on" to a "wait what? What's Mystique going to do?"; although it does make for a more surprising final scene.

btw, the new characters in this that people might not recognize: Bishop, aka Lucas Bishop: Can absorb energy and shoot it out again even stronger. Has a special gun that helps him focus his energy blasts. Sunspot, aka Roberto da Costa: Can change into a flaming energy form with flight, super-strength, and fire blasts. Blink, aka Clarice Fong: Creates portals that she and others can use to teleport. Warpath, aka James Proudstar: Super-strength, agility, and super senses. Yup the Rogue cut is the right one! Yeah, in the comics Magneto is the father of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. He isn't in the universe of the MCU, but is in the X-Men movie universe. The whole movie is great but my favorite parts are the future scenes with lesser-known mutants like Bishop, Blink, Sunspot, and Warpath in action.

Logan (2017) takes a lot of inspiration from Children of Men (2006), which is a pretty popular "reactor" movie. Not that's it's important to watch before Logan, but I'd hate to see a Children of Men reaction and hear "wow this is just like Logan".
