I didn't notice on my first watch, until now. The white walkers needed the dragon to get past the wall. Benjen stark told bran that the wall had magic that doesn't allow the dead to pass it, even if no one was there to defend it. The wall needed to be taken down for the army of the dead to pass, and that was only possible with the help of a dragon (I could be wrong, they did get one dead down to kings landing to show cersi. But maybe that's because they flew him over the wall on the dragon, idk anymore lol)

This isn’t confirmed by the writers, but it’s a theory people have thrown out there. In the books there are theories about the Night King and Bran that make the theory make more sense though. But since the books aren’t finished and the writers never said anything, it’s just a theory. Had this been an actual thing in the show they would’ve said something on Inside the Episode.

Leo - there are so many little things peppered throughout this series that it's easy to not catch everything on a first watch. You've done a bang up job at keeping up. I've seen this entire series about 10 times now, and it wasn't until watching this episode with you that I realized when Arya spoke to Sansa about the Game of Faces that she played at the House of Black and White (where she was asked a question and had to answer convincingly with a lie), Arya was teaching Sansa (the slow learner) about how to beat Middlefinger. Sansa played the Game of Faces with Middlefinger when she lied convincingly to him about the worst motive for Arya to betray Sansa. Middlefinger thought he was manipulating Sansa, but the Starks are a pack and no matter what, "the pack survives" together while the "lone wolf dies". I can't think of one instance where a Stark betrayed another Stark in the series. Even Uncle Benjen (who was turned partially dead by a White Walker) still fought for the living and sacrificed himself to save Jon "Aegon Targaryen" Snow (Lyanna Stark's son) instead of fighting for the White Walkers - with a lot of thanks to the Children of the Forest for helping Uncle Benjen to stop turning into a wight (the reanimated dead). BTW - Uncle Benjen knew from Ned that Lyanna was Jon's mom. Uncle Benjen told Jon before he went to The Wall that Jon might not go to The Wall, if he knew what he was giving up (but he didn't tell Jon he'd be giving up his place as the heir to the Iron Throne). Ned was supposed to talk to Jon about Jon's mom when Ned and Jon saw one another again. (RIP The Great Honorable Ned Stark) Middlefinger betrayed the Starks before the beginning of the series when he killed Robert Baratheon's Hand Jon Arryn (who was like a father to Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon). Sansa was never going to go against the Stark pack. She knew Arya would never betray the family. In season 1, when Arya told Ned she hated Sansa, Ned reminded Arya that Sansa is her sister. Sansa's and Arya's bond cannot be undone. The Starks remain united because Winter is Coming. Also, Arya as the Lady of Winterfell's Justice carrying out Lady Stark's sentence for Middlefinger made me think of Sir Ilyn Payne - the King's Justice from earlier seasons and someone who used to be on Arya's list of people she was going to kill. My how our little Arya has grown up!

There ARE a bunch of little things that... if you look back and analyze you can find a lot of little subtle hints throughout the whole show that make more sense now. Which is why I think at some point you should do a Patreon only run of a second watch. Now that you know the story it would be cool to see how much is different watching the older eps. But that's a lot of content with no ad revenue lol, so prob not. I would LOVE to see a second watch of Fight Club though...it's a TOTALLY different movie the 2nd time once you know the twist at the end.

My only problem with this episode, Danny showing up to the gathering with 2 dragons, 1 would be fine, they know you have dragons so showing up on 1 would be fine, showing up with all 3 would be fine they know you have 3(not anymore), showing up with 2 only showed weakness.

Yes.You are right. Jon is the only true heir to the throne. With or without him, the iron throne was never Delusional Dany's birthright. The Targaryen's didn't acknowledge women in the line of succession. One managed to take it for 6 months, and afterwards, they wiped her name out of their family history. There's so many little facts and background that Dan and Dave could have sprinkled with a sentence or two, here and there, to make the story better. But they suck as writers..

Robert started a war to retrieve his love, killing Rhaegar and taking his father's throne. When Ned Stark finally found Lyanna, it was too late.(So we were told) -Now we know they were actually in love and have a child that they hid with Neds help. Most of us, including you, didnt catch all the obscure moments that they talked about roberts rebellion because we thought it wasn't much significance to the story, no big deal. 'Gold Crown' aka Viserys and Rhaegar were both Daenerys brothers. Now we are all caught up and on to season 8!

Awesome finally seeing you react to the biggest reveal of the series. Jon being the heir to the iron throne is not the most important thing; he's even more special than that because he is ice (stark) + fire (targ). In the books, there are deleted scenes where it shows that Rhaegar really cared about the prophecy of The Prince Who Was Promised whose song is Ice and Fire, a hero who is supposed to stop the long night and kill the white walkers. Stark blood has magic related to the first men hence why Stark children bond with direwolves, can be wargs etc., while Targs have magic related to Valyria that enables them to bond with dragons and (only sometimes) even be immune to fire. The fact that Jon is from both families makes him extra special. There's even a lot of people theorizing that Rhaegar didn't love Lyanna at all and only had a child with her to fulfill that prophecy (at least in the books it was never really confirmed that they're in love.)

That was Dany's older brother. Not Viserys(Golden Crown f-boy). It was Rheagar, their older brother. They thought he was married to Oberyn Martell's sister, but the marriage was annulled. The same sister that Oberyn wanted to kill the Mountian about. Instead, Rhegar secretly married Ned's sister. The sister that had been promised to Robert Baratheon. The lie got told that Ned's sister was kidnapped and raped by Rhegar. That is what made Robert go to war against the Mad King Targaryen, which he won and became King. All for a girl that wasn't kidnapped, but was in love and kicking it. And shout out to Little Finger for starting this whole show! The whole war of five kings, Stark vs Lannister, half of the show basically. It all started with Littlefinger! RIP my guy!
