'Awake In A Dream' Digital Master (2014)

Here is the digital master of our 'Descensus' B-side tune, 'Awake In A Dream'. Other than here, this song isn't available in digital format besides a crappy rip someone made of the vinyl and put on Youtube.
The song was originally only available in analog format as a part of a split 7" we put out with our friends mewithoutYou.
It's actually really interesting to listen to this jam now having time away from it... I always thought it was an awesome song but I distinctly remember all of us being 100% sure that it didn't belong on the record. While I can't feel that same certainty now I do feel like 'Descensus' feels like a complete statement and does not lack anything that this song provides, so with that said I stand by our decision to leave it off.
"Bside" is sort of a shitty term in my opinion because it implies a devaluation of the song. It implies that it didn't "make the cut" or "live up" to the other songs and while that can certainly be the case sometimes, it is often just a process of intuitive artistic choice that lands some songs on and others off the albums. Quite often for us over the years it has been extremely strong songs that have the ability to stand on their own two legs without needing the context of other songs that we have chosen to leave off the album and give their own lives to.
So stoked to share this with you all, hope you enjoy it! I rocked it a few times in the headphones this morning and was loving it. Hope you are all safe and healthy, sending you big loving friday vibrations.
