I'd be curious to know that too! My impression is that the Station collected around Dr Ellicott, while Cubetown is funded and staffed by these mysterious benevolent AIs. I'm sure there's plenty of science to be done, and neither place is hurting for money.

So, I'm on yet another reread (YARR?) of the entire run, and the medical doctor on Dr Elicott-Johnson's station says "this station is the greatest collection of brilliant minds in human history ." Cubetown is also a science collective. I wonder what the odds are of an overlap or even better, a rivalry? Does Station know the director? Are they colleagues? Brothers in spirit? Nemeses?
