They need some huge cushions (foofs) so they can have seating for more than 3.

Do you put maple syrup on your poutine? Do you put poutine in your maple syrup?
Joe
it appears to have an oval handle with room for 2 hands & a tsuba style guard. looks like a katana or similar style.
Joe
spot on for folks who suddenly (or finally) have cash to buy a big house though.
Joe
I laugh at these comix regularly, but it's been a while since I sat back & belly laughed for a while at one. this is peak Jacques humour.
Hugh Eckert
@Bim: extra points for deep etymology nerdery. I approve.

I have this image of Clinton coming to visit and the Cubespeople *immediately* going "Oh, she's cloned herself! Look, the Librarian has a clone and he's male and isn't he cute?!?" Cue Clinton, running screaming down the street from the curious throng...
Ursus Ridens
OK, I don't really want to see Clinton's head explode when he gets the news...except I kind of do.
Valk
knowing dale, probably glasses
Simon Green
I love how the massive room is almost totally empty, because obviously the only furnishings required are a couch and large flatscreen TV
Daryl Sawyer
Is that a comic effect, or an actual Glasses effect?

By moving into the woods you are moving into the bear's home and denying it habitat it can't replace ... and using a sword to fight a bear is a great idea. The bear will be able to make shish kabob out of you without running to the store to buy skewers :)
Todd Ellner
Daniel, not all sabers have guards, e.g. the Shaska
Maurice Kessler
So good.
Dan Curtis
Their rooms are so large and empty. They need more furniture to fill the house with.
Shane Wegner
Kenjutsu. Some fire-style dojutsu also.
Stephen Wells
Katana has a curved blade. The guard (tsuba) between the blade and grip also has a distinctive shape that Jeph has rendered very nicely :)
Ruth Merriam
This is a magical strip.

Sabre is recorded in English from the 1670s, as a direct loan from French, where the sabre is an alteration of sable, which was in turn loaned from German Säbel, Sabel in the 1630s. The German word is on record from the 15th century, loaned from Polish szabla, which was itself adopted from Hungarian szabla (14th century, later szablya). The spread of the Hungarian word to neighboring European languages took place in the context of the Ottoman wars in Europe of the 15th to 17th centuries. The spelling saber became common in American English in the second half of the 19th century.

In Dale’s defense a bear is pretty strong. And was probably there first.
Daniel Drazen
A saber has a curved-back guard, and a curved blade.
William Cole
Its guard and Dale's grip suggest a katana.
Duncan
Dale's sword looks.. bent... or is it a saber? (I looked up 'saber' in my etymological dictionary (cf my other comment about 'fun' vs 'cool'). You can 'saber' someone (stick 'em with your saber) and be 'sabered' (armed with a saber). Original origin of word unknown!)
Miyaa
One last question: how can one be sick of maple syrup? You might as well be sick of poutine and televised curling.
David Paul
Dale has a smoke bomb ready for that very reason.
Daniel Rydberg
I love these goof balls. Way to introduce yourself to your idol, Dale. Now, Mommymilkers! Run up to your savior and hug him before he runs away again!
Scott Vogel
I'm just waiting for Dale to now show up in Virgil from Devil May Cry.

Playing with Aurelia’s gray streaks, hm? I think the iteration just prior to this was the best balance. It’s funny that there were none when she walked in; makes it seem like just spending an hour with May made her go gray!
Opus the Poet
I have a bunch of swords for home defense because a sword doesn't go through the wall and kill the neighbor's kid if you miss the home intruder.
Gorbulus Maximus
hey, this is just further evidence that Dale is really just a very advanced type of Dog. He Alert? He Atacc!!
Bill Silvia
So AI also lack protections against unexpected loud noises.
joe velsher
I mean, it's always dick jokes o'clock everywhere, so.....

the kangaroos are harmless unless you're driving a vehicle in their general vicinity
Dan Curtis
I watched youtubes about blades, does that count?

I live in an urban area, and the largest wildlife I've seen (and smelled) here was a skunk. A friend who lives an hour west of here does see bears, though. She has to bring her birdfeeders in at night or the bears tear them apart. My stepmother, a little further west, brings hers in because of the deer rather than bears. She sees foxes, too. Very cute foxes, but we keep our distance, of course.
KCkittysnores
But the bears aren’t SECRET. I mean, they don’t like hide in a corner and you’re just walking along and you’ve got a bear dangling off you.
Zak Reichle
Even the birds in Australia are angry and dangerous
Todd Ellner
His form needs work.
Thisguy
Its funny. For all of the playing up of Australia as a Death Continent, we don't get bears or other large predators in our yards. Just deadly snakes and spiders. Ok, I suppose people who live in croc territory might have crocodiles, but that's not my area of expertise. We do get kangaroos, but they're harmless unless you engage them one on one. And goanna's but they're fine unless you look like a tree. But no bears.
Mitch Megaw
Oo! Dale downloaded the Flameyes for his glasses. $0.99 well spent!

I'm assuming that's the Gameboy May confiscated from Marigold, and she'll put it down any minute, she just wants to finish this one level.
