I'm not sure those are a thing in the US. Well, more accurately, I don't think that's a term used in the US, and it is, in fact, the default contract offered to hourly employees in the US. Dora might guarantee hours to her employees, or even pay them a salary, but I don't think that's the norm for a small coffee shop in the US. Most of the employees would be hourly, with no expectation for a minimum number of hours per week. There are, of course, budgetary reasons for not hiring, say, 50 employees and only paying them when they work, but I don't think Dora's quite in that situation yet.

One of the two possibilities that have been floated frequently for who her sister might be only recently moved up from having someone living on her couch. I'm sure she'd love to be back there again so soon. Regarding the other possibility, I don't think I've seen enough of that apartment to predict how this would play out. Do Them even have a couch?

I love Ayo a whole lot xD Also, I'm pretty sure that "in desperate need of a job immediately" makes you MORE appealing to hire, not less (even at a non-predatory coffee shop like CoD)
