Classified Document – G.R.S. Model 12 "Blue Lantern" Field Radio
Issued by: Gallian Royal Signals Research Division, Yuell Communications Laboratory
Date: 27th of Warmund, 1935 E.C.
The G.R.S. Model 12 "Blue Lantern" is a ruggedized, long-range field communications pack powered by Type-3 ragnite batteries. Designed for independent squad-level use in remote or front-line operations, the Blue Lantern grants unparalleled clarity and reach, thanks to ragnite's unique conductive and harmonizing properties. Capable of maintaining voice transmission across distances of up to 30 kilometers in unobstructed terrain, the system revolutionizes battlefield coordination. The advanced signal modulation unit built into the core housing allows seamless switching between encoded and open frequencies, all managed by an analog tuner with tactile feedback suitable for gloved operation.
The internal architecture of the Model 12 is designed for durability and field maintainability. Modular signal tubes and filament arrays powered by refined ragnite cells offer high current with minimal heat bleed or resonance interference, even under heavy use. The large-format Type-3 ragnite battery (8 inches by 2 inches by half an inch) fits into a reinforced cradle with glow-indicator ports that allow rapid visual diagnostics. Auxiliary functions include a passive sweep scanner, capable of detecting hostile or friendly signal activity within a ten-kilometer radius, and a short-range broadcast mode that can override weaker transmissions for emergency coordination. Total operational time is rated at 48 to 60 hours on a single core.
Issued alongside the Blue Lantern are G.R.S. P4 personal units- compact transceivers crafted from rolled steel and insulated with vulcanized rubber. Designed for fireteam cohesion and tactical control in confined environments, the P4 radios offer reliable two-way communication over distances up to six kilometers, including through moderate obstructions such as rubble, dense brush, or building interiors. Powered by small-form ragnite cells with integrated charge indicators, these units represent a significant leap in reliability and signal fidelity. All ragnite-powered systems are sealed against environmental hazards and possess basic overcharge shielding in the event of cell compromise.
