Oberyn's sister, Elia, was married to Rhaegar. Rhaegar left her for Ned's sister Lyanna. That's why Robert started the war. Because he was in love with Lyanna. Then, when Jamie killed Dany's dad (The Mad King) during that war, Tywin had The Mountain kill Elia and her babies. That's why Dany and her other brother, the shitty one, ended up in another country - they were trying to get away from Tywin and The Mountain. Oberyn knows that Tywin did all of this and got away with it. Lyanna died. And Robert killed Rhaegar.
