CYOA: The Marathon - Chapter 4 (Story)
🕑 Added 2023-10-22 12:00:02 +0000 UTCMaybe it was all that sugar she'd been eating today that was making her feel slightly sick, or maybe it was the thought of what she was planning on doing, of going to find that woman dressed as a Mommy again in the hopes of getting her panties back. At this point, though, it was probably the sugar that was keeping her going, so she got herself some more candy and soda, and a ticket to The White Altar, whatever that was going to turn out to be, and made a bee-line for the bathroom, hoping that the woman would be there.
"Oh, sweetie," the woman shook her head almost as soon as Fawn stepped into the bathroom. "What did you do?"
"Wh-What do you mean?" Fawn blushed and squirmed. Could she really tell already?!
"You leaked all over your skirt, silly girl!" the woman chastised her. "If you needed protection this badly, you should have told me!"
"Wh-What?!" Fawn squeaked, looking into the mirror, feeling a little bit faint as she saw that there was, indeed, a tiny wet spot on her skirt. 'All over' was definitely an exaggeration, but there was a good chance the usherette had noticed. It must have been that last scare, she thought to herself, that person who had snuck into the auditorium in costume... Had they been able to tell, too, what they'd made her do?! She hated giving them that satisfaction.
And she hated being here, in leaking trainers, facing this much taller, more mature woman, smirking down at her. It was, she supposed, a good thing she hadn't let the usher, at least, see her this way, as cute as he was, and she would have felt guilty if she'd leaked onto the theater's seats...
No! She shook her head, mortified that she was thinking that way. She wouldn't be leaking any more, because it wasn't like she needed these things! She didn't have accidents! This had come about solely because the doors to the auditorium had been locked, so she couldn't make it to the bathroom! And because she'd been scared, yes, but at least she knew that person was here now, so surely she'd be able to contain her reaction a little better.
"Naughty girl," the woman sighed. "I ought to spank your bottom for letting me send you out in training panties when you knew you needed a nice, thick diaper instead."
"N-No, I don't!" Fawn protested, reaching for the door, unsure what she would do if she got out it, if she was going to spend the rest of the day in wet pants or what, but it didn't matter because of course she didn't make it. The woman hand closed around her wrist, yanked her away from the door, back towards the stall where Fawn was horrified to see a full changing table waiting, crammed in beside the toilet.
Was that customary for older buildings to have? She had no idea... It certainly seemed odd that it was more than large enough for her to be lifted up onto it, the woman not having to strain at all, proving exactly how hopeless it would be for Fawn to attempt to fight back against her.
"We'll just get rid of all of this for now," the woman said, tugging off Fawn's shoes and socks. "They might have gotten a little wet."
"No, they didn't!" Fawn whined, kicking her feet in vain, which did nothing to stop her clothes from being removed, and, instead, prompted the woman to grab her wrists, forcing them up towards the top of the changing table, wrapping thick, yet soft, straps around them and locking them into place. That also didn't feel like it would have been standard issue, Fawn thought to herself as she thrashed and groaned.
"Goodness," the woman clucked, sliding down Fawn's skirt, exposing the trainers. "Absolutely soaked! What have you been drinking, young lady? I'd say this calls for a double diaper!"
"No, it doesn't!" Fawn insisted, flashing back to her glimpse into the woman's diaper bag, into how massive those diapers had looked. "Pl-Please, stop it!"
As soon as the training pants were off her ankles, her feet were strapped down as well, leaving her completely helpless, unable to do anything to stop the woman from wiping her soggy crotch clean, then pulling out one of the diapers and sliding it under her wiggling bottom. Fawn gasped, the cloth so much bigger and bulkier than even the trainers had been, almost feeling like a pillow under her. There was no denying that this was a diaper... And it was about to be pinned onto her.
"Please, don't do this!" Fawn sniffed. "I-I'm not a little girl! I'm a college student! I-I don't need diapers!"
"You very clearly do," the woman countered. "And I'd say it's about time somebody put you into them."
"No!" Fawn squealed as the diaper was pulled up between her legs, the thickness of it pushing her thighs apart. "M-My friends are gonna be here!"
"Then I hope one of them will be responsible enough to change these for you," the woman told her. Fawn whimpered, imagining her friends seeing her this way, much less her having to waddle up to them and ask for a fresh diaper...
The second layer went on, Fawn uncertain if she'd be able to walk at all with it, and then, at last, the woman unfastened Fawn's ankles... Only to pull a pair of loud, crinkly, orange plastic pants up the girl's legs. They barely seemed to fit over the huge diaper she was wearing, but after a few tugs, the woman got them into place... And pulled something tight around the waist before Fawn heard a click.
She couldn't see what it was until her hands were freed as well, until the woman helped her sit up, since she couldn't manage it on her own at first, until she was sat on the edge of the changing table, feet dangling, stomach churning as she looked down at herself, lifting the hem of her oversized sweater. There had been some part of her that had known what it was, yet that did little to soften the blow of seeing the tiny lock there, trapping her in her diapers.
"B-But... H-How am I s'posed to use the potty like this?" she nibbled her bottom lip anxiously.
"Oh, sweetie," the woman chuckled. "You don't use the potty anymore. You're going to be using your diapers from now on. Won't that be nice?"
"No!" Fawn sulked, crossing her arms, her protest getting only a bemused chuckle from the woman while she pulled a pair of ankle socks onto Fawn's feet, following them up with a pair of shiny, black Mary Janes.
Fawn's sweater was just long enough that it could almost have been mistaken for a dress, making the whole outfit somehow make sense together now, as if she'd left her dorm like this intentionally... Except, of course, that it made her look like someone far too young to be attending college, staying in a dorm, or anywhere else, on her own...
She was, at least, able to stand after all when the woman set her down on her feet on the floor, and could even, after a moment or two of psyching herself up, take a step, though it really qualified more as a toddle, technically. Her sweater did look like it could have been a dress, but not one anywhere near long enough to cover more than the top half, if that, of her diaper, no matter how hard she pulled. As soon as she waddled out of the bathroom, everyone was going to know exactly what she was wearing...
"Go on, then," the woman smiled, giving Fawn a pat on the bottom that she could barely feel through her double diapers, yet that she was able to hear quite well. "Mommy will change you after your next movie."
"No!" Fawn shook her head, more out of fear than defiance. She couldn't leave this room until she got her own clothes back... But how was she going to do that?!
"No?" the woman raised an eyebrow. "Did you tell Mommy no, little one? Maybe you really do need a spanking."
"N-No!" Fawn sniffled, her stomach lurching as the woman took her by the hand again. It was a small relief that she was led not back into the stall but towards the door to the lobby, but only a very, very small one, especially as the door was pushed open and she instantly felt like everyone was staring at her.
"Do I need to walk you to your screen, too?" the woman demanded, Fawn shaking her head, retrieving her snacks from the bench quietly. "Is that what you're eating?" she asked. "How much of that have you had, young lady?"
"I-I don't know," Fawn squirmed. "N-Not much?"
"I was so busy worrying about your diapers, I didn't think to check your hands," the woman told her, turning Fawn's hand over and examining it. "Just as I thought... Messy again." She took a wipe from her diaper bag to clean Fawn's hands off with, then produced a large baby bottle of milk and a small paper bag, giving them to Fawn. "I think these are much more appropriate snacks for you," she said. "And I expect you to finish them up by the time the movie is over."
With that, she took Fawn's candy and soda from the bench and vanished back into the bathroom, Fawn hearing a click. She gave the door an experimental push, confirming that it was, indeed, locked. She whimpered, staring down at her diaper, realizing that she had no choice now, at least until the movie started, anyway, and presumably the woman would leave to watch whatever she wanted to see next.
She peeked into the bag, pouting at the sight of a bunch of plain Cheerios, far less appetizing than her candy had been. She could have gone back to the usherette and gotten some more... But she wanted as few people as possible to see her this way.
It was unfortunate, then, that she knew she was going to have to walk right up to the usher, diapers showing beneath her sweater, bottle of milk in her hands. If there had ever been any chance she'd have a shot with him, it was going to be gone now... Not that she knew anything about him, or had spoken more than a handful of words to him, and heard even fewer from him.
That didn't make it any less humiliating, toddling up to him, hearing a chorus of "Aww"s from all of the Mommies she passed, many of them, if they were close enough, even daring to reach down, give her bottom a pat.
If it hadn't been for the diapers, maybe she would have gotten up the courage to at least ask about what had happened last time, about the doors being locked. As it was, as soon as she got to the usher, felt his eyes on her, she was unable to say anything, do anything other than meekly hand over her ticket and tug at the hem of her sweater, for all the good that was going to do her.
As wild a coincidence it was that he was in front of the right auditorium for her again, she could hardly bring herself to feel surprised by it, or by him saying only, "Right this way," again. She was grateful he didn't mention, or react to, her diapers... At the same time, however, it was weird that he hadn't even blinked, as if he considered it just as natural for her to be in them as in her old outfit.
Her plastic pants sounded so very loud as she waddled into the empty auditorium, and when she sat down, it was almost comical how much higher she was, thanks to all the extra padding underneath her, making her feet dangle well off the floor, like she was back sitting on the edge of the changing table. She groaned, pawing at the lock around her waist, although, even if she had been able to get it off, she'd still have to keep at least one of the diapers on, since she had nothing else to wear under her sweater.
She didn't like milk at all, but the way the woman had told her she expected her to finish it did prompt her to at pick it up, try to unscrew the top for a moment before giving up and slipping the nipple into her mouth, giving it a suck.
It wasn't cow's milk, that was for sure. She didn't know what it was, but it was a bit too thick for that, a bit too sweet. She had some suspicions about what it might be, though that seemed too gross, too bizarre, for even the weirdo in the bathroom to do to her... Probably it was just formula, which wasn't that much better, honestly.
The Cheerios, as far as she could tell, were just Cheerios. They tasted fine... She did feel very babyish sitting there in her diapers munching on them, however, knowing how much little kids liked them as a snack.
The movie didn't help take her mind off of things, either. It opened with a woman stumbling out of a building in the middle of the night in what appeared to be a small, seaside town, wearing a tiny white dress, barely longer than Fawn's sweater, and a huge diaper, nearly as thick as Fawn's.
What was going on with this marathon?! Fawn didn't consider herself that knowledgeable about older movies, but she'd seen enough to know that they didn't all feature adults in diapers... Was that the theme of this marathon? She hadn't seen any mention of it anywhere, yet the prevalence of them was undeniable, and, considering how she was dressed now, somewhat disconcerting.
The woman waddled through the town, frowning at the signs on the buildings, looking perplexed by them, before finally coming across a trio of people walking out of a pub, two guys and a girl. She rushed up to them, struggling to say something to them, seeming confused when all that came out of her mouth was baby babble, the three people laughing it off, assuming she was drunk, too.
She watched them go, stomping her foot in frustration, only to see, as they passed out of frame, a figure in a dark cloak, horns coming out from the hood, just like in the poster.
The shot held on the woman for a while, staring in fear, and it took Fawn most of it to realize why, to spot the seat of the woman's diaper swelling, expanding out behind her. Fawn let out a gasp for her, her own cheeks burning. She had peed her pants, yes, and even if it hadn't been her fault, it was humiliating... That, though... She couldn't even imagine how mortifying that was, but seeing it now, on the big screen, was giving her far more of an idea of it than she wanted.
Finally, the shot cut to another woman, one who looked similar, yet not identical, sitting up in bed, gasping. "I saw her," she told a very prim and proper looking man at the breakfast table. "My sister is here, I know it."
"Now, now, Eve," the man told her. "Dreams can be important, yes, but you can't go relying on them."
"But it felt so real, Uncle Walter," Eve said. "She was right out on the street I drove in on yesterday."
"See?" Walter shook his head. "Your mind combined what you saw with what is forefront in your mind right now, that's all."
"I don't know, Uncle Walter," she frowned. "I think she's still here."
"You are, of course, welcome to stay as long as you like," he smiled. "This is your house as much as it is mine, and it is wonderful to see you again. I hope you're right... The only thing that would make this more like old times would be to have Eden here as well."
"I'm not so sure," Eve replied. "If she is here, I think she's in grave danger..."
Eve was there in that same town the girl from the dream had been running through, searching for her sister, who had gone missing after visiting their huge ancestral estate, which her uncle Walter cared for. She wandered through the town, talking to people, showing them a picture of Eden, but nobody seemed to know anything that Eve didn't already.
"Yes, I know she was here then," she told one shopkeeper impatiently. "What about after that? Have you seen her since then, maybe last night?"
"No, I haven't," he responded. "She must have moved on, and I suggest you do the same."
After a fruitless search, Eve returned back to the estate, where Walter gave her the same advice. Eve seemed almost ready to believe him, to try a nearby town the next day, but in her dreams that night, she saw her sister again, this time surrounded by more figures in cloaks in addition to the one with horns, still in the dress and diaper, being led to a white altar on a cliffside overlooking the sea.
She was much more docile this time, calmer... Until the one with horns produced a large, curved dagger. She stared at it, starting to cry, the figures in cloaks whispering to one another before the one with horns walked up to her, putting the knife away, whispering a word that Fawn couldn't hear as it stroked Eden's hair.
Fawn blushed in solidarity as she saw the woman's diaper ballooning outwards again, not at all a fan of this reminder of what the thing she was wearing was for, of how often it seemed to be coming up.
"Soon," was the only word spoken out loud, as Eden sat on the ground, appearing dazed, starting to drool...
"She is here!" Eve insisted at breakfast the next day. "Those cliffs... I haven't thought about them in years, but we would have picnics there, as children."
"Then being here reminded you of them," Walter told her. "I've already booked you a hotel in Greymarsh. I think I recall her saying something about wanting to visit there. If you don't find anything, perhaps you can come back and try again..."
"No!" Eve shook her head. "I don't think she has much time..."
She had Walter take her to the cliffside, where, of course, there was no trace of her sister, or even the altar. "It was here," she frowned. "It was right here!"
"It was a dream," he said gently. "I'll move your reservation at Greymarsh until tomorrow, all right?"
Eve stared at the spot from her dream for a long moment before nodding. "All right... I'm sure you're right, Uncle."
That evening, however, she decided to go out for a drink at the pub, feeling sorry for herself for wasting so much time here, when her sister was clearly elsewhere, only to spot a trio of familiar looking people at one of the tables.
"Excuse me?" she asked, walking up to them uncertainly. "I know this is a strange question, but were you here a couple nights ago?"
"We're here most nights," one of the men replied.
"When you left, did you see her?" Eve took the picture of her sister out of her pocket, showing it to them. "I think she was wearing..."
"A diaper, yeah," the woman chuckled. "Yeah, I remember that. It was odd, but, you know, I suppose if you can't hold your liquor, it's better to be prepared." She gave Eve a playful wink. "You don't have that problem, do you?"
"Where did she go?!" Even demanded, ignoring his question.
"We didn't stick around to find out," the third shrugged. "Calm down, lady."
She didn't calm down, though, storming back to the estate and to her uncle's study. "She is here!" she announced. "They saw her! I knew it wasn't a dream! We have to go out right now and find her before...!"
"Don't be ridiculous," Walter said. "I'm sure, wherever she is, she's tucked away safely in bed this time of night, as you should be."
"No!" she refused. "We have to go back to the cliffs! She might be there, and...!"
Walter sighed, shook his head, and turned on the huge, old television sitting in his study. The television turned on, filling with static, flashes of other images Fawn couldn't quite make out, even when the projection screen filled entirely with it, the soundtrack of the movie becoming an unsettling, low drone, mixed with hints of what she almost thought were nursery rhyme tunes, for far longer than felt necessary, though Fawn realized she couldn't keep from staring at it as long as it was up there, as mesmerized as Eve was when the shot finally cut away, showing the rest of the study again.
"Oh, Eve," Walter sighed, stroking her hair. "Why couldn't you have just left well enough alone?"
If Eve dreamed that night, the movie didn't show it, simply cutting to her sitting up in bed as if she had just woken up, this time her nose wrinkling as she wriggled in place, slowly peeling aside her covers to reveal a diaper... One that Fawn could see, as the woman shifted and turned in bed, reaching back to poke at it, was quite lumpy...
"Good morning, dear," Walter greeted her as she meekly poked her head into the dining room, in her normal clothes. "Sleep well?"
"U-Uncle Walter?" she blushed. "D-Did you put me in...?"
"I apologize. You arrived home last night drunk out of your mind," he told her. "I thought it for the best... For the sake of your mattress."
"I-I was..?" Eve blinked, shaking her head. "Yes, I suppose I did go to the pub... I-I don't remember anything past that."
"Well, it seemed you'd had quite a lot to drink, so I'm not surprised. I know you're concerned for your sister, but perhaps it would be better to go home for now and wait to see if she contacts you. I think this may all be too much for you right now."
"No," she said. "No, you mentioned Greymarsh... I'll try there."
On her way out of town, however, she caught a glimpse of a cloaked figure, like in her dreams, down an alley. She pulled her car over, hopping out and rushing over to investigate, finding nothing there, except a window she could peer through, seeing a young woman from trio she'd seen in her dream - and at the bar, which she apparently didn't remember - sitting there, staring blankly at a television, showing what appeared to be the same static as in Walter's study, or, at the very least, that gave Fawn the same uneasy feeling as the movie screen once more filled with it.
Fawn whimpered, squirming in her seat, not liking this at all. She couldn't do anything about it, though, couldn't turn away, couldn't get out of her seat, couldn't even raised her hand to wipe away the drool she felt dribbling from the corner of her mouth.
As soon as it ended, she shook her head, knowing something was wrong. "No," she mumbled to herself, hopping out of her seat, her knees feeling very unsteady. She wasn't epileptic, as far as she knew, had never had issues with flashing lights, but she'd never encountered anything quite like what the movie was showing her, either, never had anything make her feel this way. She quickly waddled down the aisle, towards the door, wanting to get out of here, preferring to sit in the lobby, even in her diapers, than risk going through that again...
The door was locked. She knew, in the pit of her stomach, that the emergency exit would be, too, though that didn't stop her from toddling down and trying it, confirming that she was trapped here. It hadn't been a fluke last time, she realized... Once she was in one of the movies, there was no leaving until it was over.
The woman from the bar had not fared as well as Fawn, or Eve, not having a diaper on to help catch the mess in the seat of her pants, which felt strangely graphic for a movie from this time. Like Eden in the dream, she didn't appear able to speak real, adult words when Eve broke in, trying to help her, babbling and sucking her thumb as Eve led her through the village back to her uncle.
"Something is wrong with her!" she told him. "I-I think it's the same thing that happened to Eden!"
"Oh, Eve," Walter sighed, shaking his head. "Why couldn't you have left well enough alone? It's bad enough your sister had to go poking around... I would have liked to spare at least one of you."
Eve opened her mouth, confused, only to be silenced as her uncle turned the television on again. "No!" Fawn whimpered, raising her hands to block the sight... But she couldn't do anything about the sound, which made her hands drop down to her side, the screen's images blaring right into her eyes, right, it felt, into her brain.
It was hard, coming out of it, to concentrate fully on what was going on in the movie, but Eve was in a white dress and diaper now, like Eden had been in the dream, right alongside the woman from the bar, both of their diapers messy as they sat in an oversized nursery. The door opened, and a figure in a cloak stepped in, Eve scrambling away as it pushed back its hood, revealing Walter.
"I did what I could, Eve," he sighed. "This was supposed to be for the best. The Horned King demands his sacrifices, and they must be innocent. It seemed barbaric, relying on actual children, but we found a way to take adults, wipe their minds, make them acceptably innocent for him... I didn't want to have to use it on you, Eve. I didn't. I thought I had fine-tuned it enough so that it would make you push out just enough of your grown-up thoughts into your diaper to forget about all this... It would hardly be a sacrifice if it was easy, though, would it?"
He reached down to brush her hair out of her eyes, Eve pushing his hand away defiantly, even as she let out a string of baby babble. "Not yet, hmm?" he smiled sadly. "Maybe we'll have a chance to have another picnic, then, out on the cliffs, like old times..."
He took the hand of the other girl, who went along willingly, without question. Eve grabbed at her other hand, only to have her uncle turn the television on once more.
Fawn knew, of course, that this was a movie, that these images couldn't have the same affect on her... But it did feel like it was doing something inside her head as she wiggled in her seat, helpless to stop it. She felt, drained, vulnerable, by the time it cut away, showing the girl from the bar being led out onto the cliffside, to the white altar, the Horned King waiting there to take her from Walter, helping her up onto it, lifting his knife...
She was relieved not to have to see the actual sacrifice... Until, instead, it cut right back to the static one last time. This time, almost instantly, she could tell something was different, though it took a while, a lot of squirming, to realize what it was, to be able to hear the sound of her own grunting and straining over the sound coming from the speakers, to recognize that her diaper was slowly, but surely, filling up with soft, warm, squishy mush...
"I-I'm pooping my pants!" she squealed in shock. That wasn't accurate, however, she knew... She was pooping her diaper, and, try as she might, wriggling in her seat, toes curling in her Mary Janes, she couldn't stop it. She had been so insistent that she didn't need them, that she was a big girl, and now she was doing the most humiliating thing she could think of in them! And, if the movie was true, that might not be the worst of it...
But of course it wasn't true! That was silly! And yet... Here she was, sitting in the middle of a theater in a very dirty, very thick diaper, just like those girls she'd seen on screen. She frowned, furrowing her brow, trying to think, though, of course, if she had forgotten something, if she had pushed some of her big girl thoughts into her diaper just now, how would she know what they were?
As soon as the credits started, as soon as the static stopped and she could, she tore her eyes away from the screen, not wanting to run the risk of them showing more of it. She barely remembered to grab the remnants of her snacks, and only because she knew the woman probably wouldn't be happy if she didn't get the bottle back - and, considering the state her diaper was in, Fawn couldn't risk having the woman any more unhappy with her - and rushed for the door, nose wrinkling as her dirty diaper squelched and squished at the movement, the extra mass slowing her down even more.
She pulled open the door to the lobby, and immediately let out a shriek, stumbling back and away from the figure in a sheet on the other side, waiting for her, axe in hand. She lost her balance, grabbing out for whatever she could, snatching a handful of the sheet, which did nothing to stop her from falling flat onto her backside, whimpering as she landed on the mess, spreading it thoroughly throughout the few remaining clean spots in her diaper, as her bladder let go like it had last time she'd been scared by this person, although now that was hardly her biggest concern.
"Leave me alone!" she demanded, grateful that she could speak at all, pulling herself backwards, away from the person in costume from Camp Nightmare... When she looked up at them, however, she was stunned to see that it was, in fact... herself.
"W-Wait..." she sniffed. "Th-That's impossible..." She didn't have a twin, or even a sister... There was no way someone who looked this much like her would just happen to be here at the same time, would just happen to have decided to wear that costume, not when this was so similar to the reveal from that movie...
But, sure enough, there was another her, dressed like she had been when she'd first come into the theater, standing over her, snickering, then starting to laugh, pointing down at her. "N-No, stop it!" Fawn whined, shaking her head. "G-Go away!"
There was no sign the other her was going anywhere, though, and Fawn knew that the longer she sat here in her messy diaper, the more chance there would be for the usher to come find her here, so, finally, she worked up the courage to push herself to her feet, pushing past the thing in the doorway. As soon as she touched it, it dissolved into nothing, taking the sheet - which she'd hoped to use to hide her diaper in the lobby - with it.
Moving as fast as she could, she toddled through the theater, heading straight for the front door, not caring about the last movie, not caring about her outfit, just needing to get out of this place. When she reached it, however, she froze, seeing the Horned King standing outside by her car, knife drawn, seemingly staring right at the door, like it was waiting for her.
She backed away, shaking her head. What was she going to do?! The only thing she could, it seemed, was to return to the counter, pushing aside how humiliating it was, letting the usherette see her in her messy diaper.
"Y-You hafta help!" she pleaded. "C-Call the police or something!"
"Movie?" the usherette asked.
"No!" Fawn stomped her foot. "No, I don't wanna see another movie! You hafta help me get out of here!"
"Full marathon," the usherette said, pointing down at Fawn's hand, at the crib bars stamped on there.
Fawn gulped, rubbing at the ink, which refused to smear off. "N-No, I don't want the full marathon anymore," she said. "I wanna go home! B-But I can't get out, there's...!"
"No," the usherette confirmed, the word sending a chill down her spine, despite - or, perhaps because - it sounded no different than ever, regardless of how frantic she was being. "Full marathon."
"Wh-What is this place?" Fawn whimpered.
"Movie?" the usherette demanded.
"Fine!" Fawn shook her head. "Fine, just give me a ticket to..."
She couldn't quite recall, suddenly, what the names of the movies were. She frowned, glancing at the counter, at the list of movie titles... But she had no idea what it said. She'd been able read them before... Hadn't she?
Her eyes darted over to the boxes of candy, growing more and more frantic as it dawned on her what the problem was, everything on them just as cryptic as the list of movies. She had, indeed, pushed out more than the mess stinking up the seat of her diaper...
"Movie?" the usherette asked once more.
"I don't know!" Fawn whined, stomping her foot again. "I can't read!" And she had to hope that was all she'd lost...
"What do you think you're doing, young lady?" the woman from the bathroom demanded, giving Fawn a sharp swat to the backside. "I'm sure you're grumpy because you had a little accident, but that doesn't give you any excuse to speak to a grown-up that way!"
"I-I'm a grown-up!" Fawn insisted.
"You haven't even learned to keep your diapers clean yet, much less read," the woman told her. "How can you be a grown-up? You're just lucky that you already paid for the full marathon, little one, or I'd take you home and put you in time-out right now."
"N-No, I can't go home with you," Fawn shook her head, even as the woman picked her up, resting her on her hip like she would any other toddler, demonstrating how easy it would be for her to walk out of there with her, how little Fawn could do about it. She had to find a way out of here, away from all of this... She was afraid of what might happen at the next movie, but she also didn't know if she could get out the door without the Horned King getting her. If she didn't escape now, however, there would be no leaving until the last movie was over, no matter what that might mean, what that might unleash... "I-I hafta go back to college..."
"What you have to do," the woman said, giving the blushing girl in her arms a bounce, "is show the nice lady what movie you want to see, and then come get your diaper changed. And where is your baba? Mommy wants to see how much of her milk you drank."
Fawn's stomach churned, praying that those words didn't mean what she thought they did, that it hadn't been breastmilk in that bottle, even if that was exactly what she'd been afraid of after her first sip. "B-But I don't know what they are!" she protested.
"Just point, silly," the woman told her. "Or Mommy will pick for you."
