Carolyn was tempted to haul the little over her lap, but she took a deep breath, made herself calm down. Clearly, this meant a lot to her... She had been taught what the consequences of throwing a tantrum like this were, ever since her adoption, and she had become, mostly, a sweet, obedient little, the kind that all Amazons wished they could have. Her only flaw was that she wasn't in diapers yet, though even that was in the works, and there was something fun about the process itself, if Carolyn was being honest. She was, at least, in trainers, and diapers for nighttime, all her panties properly disposed of, so it was a good start.
"And why not?" she asked patiently. "I have to do something with you." Laney began to open her mouth. "No, you aren't staying home by yourself all day. If you weren't scared of all the babysitters I hired for you..."
Laney blushed, staring down at her feet bashfully. "Th-They're all so big and intimidating, Mommy... I-I can't help it..."
Carolyn chuckled, bending down to kiss the girl on the top of her head. "I know, sweetie." It had been adorable, seeing Laney hide behind her leg every time a sitter came over, bawling and clinging to her, not wanting her to go... She'd caved several times, taking her with her to the office, but that simply wasn't feasible to do every day. "But you're just too precious for me to trust to one silly 'tweener."
"Who do you think works at most of these places?" Laney huffed.
"There will be more than one of them there," Carolyn reminded her. "And the owner of this one is an Amazon, and she stays on site in case they need her... You'll be perfectly safe there."
"B-But..." Laney stammered, clearly struggling for an excuse, a way to talk herself out of this. "E-Everyone is going to make fun of me!"
"No, they won't," Carolyn purred, giving the girl a hug. "Everyone is going to love you! How could they not?"
"Yes, they will!" Laney insisted. "They always did when I was at school, and this is going to be exactly the same! Please, I don't wanna go back!"
Carolyn sighed, watching as the tears began to pour from the girl's eyes, feeling sorry for her. She was very small, even for a little, and scrawny, and hadn't seemed to have many friends... Carolyn wasn't shocked to hear that she'd been bullied. She didn't think it would be the same at daycare, that the teachers would stop it, but Laney probably wouldn't be pleased if she told them to keep an extra close eye on her. Having them always hovering around her would make it harder for her to make friends.
"We'll see," she told the girl after a moment.
Laney blinked up at her, eyes wet. "R-Really?"
"I'm going to think about it," Carolyn promised.
In truth, she already had a plan, although she wasn't sure where she was going to find the right candidate for it in time for the first day of daycare. Thankfully, one of her co-workers had a suggestion when she brought it up to her.

Laney's eyes widened, starting to brim with tears, as she looked out the window, squirming in her carseat and hugging her teddy bear more tightly. "Mommy!" she whined, feet kicking uselessly. "You tricked me!"
"I didn't trick you," Mommy sighed from the front seat. "I said I had a surprise for you."
"B-But..." Laney pouted. "I-I thought that meant you were taking me to the office again... N-Not...!" She groaned, daring to take another glimpse at the daycare. She couldn't believe Mommy was seriously going to make her go there, that she was going to leave her there all by herself!
"I wish I could," Mommy said. "I promise, you're going to have so much fun."
Laney sulked as she was unbuckled, as Mommy picked her up, carrying her on her hip towards the building. "No, I won't!" she huffed.
Mommy's eyes twinkled in a way that Laney knew meant she was up to something, though Laney had no idea what it could be. "We'll see about that, little one," she smiled, giving the seat of Laney's Pull-Ups a pat.
Mommy got her checked in, then let her be led away, standing at the entrance and waving as Laney was tearfully dragged off, clinging to her teddy, thumb in her mouth. As soon as she got to the main room, she felt overwhelmed, seeing all the other littles running around, certain that all of them, even the ones already in diapers, would think they were better than her, cooler than her... She shuffled off to find a dark corner to hide in, hoping that nobody would notice her there.
"You're new!" a cheery voice exclaimed from behind her, making her freeze, turn. "What's your name, cutie?"
Laney gulped, pulling her thumb free, staring up at the 'tweener, kneeling down, smiling at her. "L-Laney," she answered quietly.
"What was that?" the worker tilted her head. "I couldn't quite hear you, dear... Was that Alayna?"
Laney opened her mouth to correct her, then paused. Her real name was Lane... Mommy had added the y at the end, and she'd grown accustomed to it by now, but she didn't actually like it. Alayna wasn't quite right, either, yet it still felt more mature than Laney. "S-Sure," she decided. "That's right."
"Perfect!" the worker nodded. "We got some very special instructions for you!"
Laney froze, mortified. What had Mommy told them?! What did she want them to do to her?! This was exactly what she was afraid of... She'd been bullied at school normally, and now, with the way Mommy treated her, it was only going to get worse! Everyone was going to see how overprotective her Mommy was, how much of a baby she wanted her to act like, and they were going to make fun of her that much more because of it!
"Come on!" the worker beamed. "I have something to show you!"
Reluctantly, Laney trailed after her, over to a door. "Now, most students aren't allowed in here without a teacher," she explained. "But you're an exception. You can come in here whenever you need, okay? I'll make sure everyone knows, so you don't get in any trouble."
Laney was confused... Until the girl pushed open the door, and she saw that it was a small bathroom. "W-Wait," she furrowed her brow. "I-I can...?"
"Of course!" the teacher said. "If anything does happen, we can help you get cleaned up, but we won't bother you for checks or anything."
Laney nodded, too stunned to respond out loud. Mommy really had come through... It was surprising, considering that she wasn't allowed to use the potty on her own at home, though perhaps Mommy had decided that she'd feel more comfortable being able to do so here by herself, that her fear of other caretakers would be alleviated if she didn't have to depend on them for that.
It would definitely win her some points with the other students. No matter how small she was, if they saw she was mature enough that she didn't have to be checked, they would surely realize how mature she was, in a way that she had to assume most of them weren't. Maybe, like this, she could actually be popular, cool...
"You have a good day, Alayna," the teacher smiled.
Laney confidence was boosted just enough for her to find the courage to say, "You can call me Lane."
The teacher nodded. "Sure, if that's what you prefer, dear."

"No, stop it!" Alayna whimpered, trying in vain to swat the worker's hands away from the zipper of her shorts, her heart pounding. This was exactly what she'd been afraid of, when she agreed to take this job, exactly why she'd held out, refusing to do it until the Amazon had offered her twice the money, and a guarantee that she'd talk to the workers here, ensure that they would treat her as much like a grown-up as they could without raising suspicions. "I told you, you don't hafta do that!"
"I know you did, Laney," the worker shook her head. "But your Mommy told me otherwise. She doesn't want you getting a rash because you're too scared to ask for a fresh Pull-Up."
"No!" Alayna stomped her foot. "I don't wear Pull-Ups! And I told you, my name is...!"
"I know what you told me," the worker snapped. "I think your Mommy told you about all the special privileges Alayna gets, and you were jealous... I know you aren't her, though, because Alayna is already here, Laney."
"N-No, she isn't!" Alayna wailed in frustration. "I-I'm...!"
"What is this?!" the teacher demanded, finally peeling open Alayna's shorts to reveal the panties she was wearing underneath. "How did you sneak these past your Mommy, young lady?"
"I don't have a Mommy!" Alayna fumed.
"I knew it," the 'tweener sighed. "Any time a Mommy or Daddy gushes that much about how sweet their little is, it always means that the little is a giant brat, and just has their guardian wrapped around their finger. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, Laney, but we don't put up with that here."
Alayna squealed in shock as she was dragged over the 'tweener's lap. "No!" she shook her head, struggling in vain to break free. "Y-You can't do this! Y-You're not allowed...! Ow!"
Her face turned bright red as the worker's hand smacked down hard on her wriggling backside, the pain sharp enough to send a burst of pee into her panties, soaking them instantly, dribbling out onto her shorts. "You see? This is why you need your Pull-Ups, young lady," the girl grimaced. "But since you peed on me, I think diapers are in order... And a trip to the nursery for the day."
"No!" Alayna kicked her feet in helpless frustration. "Y-You can't!" It was bad enough that she had to spend her day in daycare... She didn't want to be trapped in a crib the whole time, staring up at a mobile, stuck wearing a diaper! It wasn't fair!
"Trust me," the worker crowed. "I definitely can."
"Ummm... Excuse me?" Alayna looked up, and, to her surprise, saw one of the prettiest girls she'd ever seen, though perhaps it was partially what she saw next that made her seem so beautiful, the confidence she had to stand up for her, here of all places. "If she needs diapers, that's fair, but don't you think it's a little harsh to send her to the nursery for the same offense?"
The worker turned, glared at the tiny girl, then, to Alayna's surprise, she softened. "Oh, it's you... Well... Maybe you have a point. But if she acts up again..."
"I'll keep an eye on her," the little promised.
"All right," the worker shrugged. "I'll get her into a diaper, then."
Alayna wasn't happy about that, but it was certainly better than being sent to the nursery... And if it meant she got to spend some more time with the other little, letting her 'keep an eye' on her... Well, she didn't mind that too much, either.
"Th-Thanks," she told the girl shyly, once it was all over, and she was left to her care, wearing just her shirt and diaper.
"No problem," the girl said. "I know how tough it can be, being the new girl."
"Umm..." Alayna blushed. "Wh-What's your name?"
"My name is Lane," the girl replied.
Alayna furrowed her brow in recognition. "Lane? Not... Laney?"
Lane shook her head. "No, definitely not."
It couldn't have been... Lane didn't seem at all like the meek little Mommy's girl that Carolyn had described her as... And Carolyn had always called her Laney, never Lane. This must be someone else altogether, as unusual a coincidence it was that their names were so similar. Alayna knew she ought to go, try to find the girl she'd been hired to help out, but, honestly, she wasn't sure she owed her client anything anymore, considering she seemingly hadn't held up her end of the bargain and had the workers for easy on her. She ought to give the Amazon a piece of her mind...
Then again, she was happy just to spend some more time with this Lane, so maybe it would be worth it to keep up the charade as long as possible, let Carolyn keep paying her to come here and see her... Maybe they'd run across Laney, wherever she was hiding, and they could help her out, too, though Alayna wasn't going to try particularly hard to do that... If she did, after all, she'd have to share Lane, and right now, all she wanted was to hang out with her, even if that meant she had to wear diapers and go to daycare to do it.
