Hiding Eggs

"What is wrong with you two?!" Laurie sighed, shaking her head. She supposed she shouldn't be too surprised... This was, after all, exactly the kind of scene she would have expected to walk in on at any other nursery, so why should this one by any different?
Of course, the answer was pretty clear, just looking at the two toddlers sitting on the floor in front of her, fighting over who got to play with one of their teddy bears first. They were both very obviously diapered, one, Fern, wearing only a striped shirt with it, her hair in ponytails, the other, Amelie, in even less clothing, having refused any of the outfits Laurie had offered her, happy to run around with her knee socks, diaper, and paci... The big difference between them and the kids Laurie usually sat for was that both of these girls were unmistakably adults despite all of that.
As soon as Laurie had seen them, she'd felt uncomfortable, uncertain about this whole thing. She could see why her client, Margot, had asked her several times to confirm she was, indeed, over 18, and had been sure to let her know that she'd be getting paid more than her usual rate, both for looking after her girls over the Easter weekend, and for special circumstances, which she'd refused to disclose until Laurie had arrived and seen it for herself.
Laurie had thought, weird as it made her feel in the pit of her stomach, seeing the two young women, around her age, dressed up and acting like very small children, that it would be an easy job. They were, after all, grown-ups... How difficult would they really make this for her? And, with as much extra money as she was being making, she couldn't afford to say no just because the situation was unusual to her.
She could, however, get frustrated when the two adult women tossed food at each other from their high chairs, making a giant mess in the dining room, or tracked mud through the house after she let them play outside on their swingset, or shouted at each other in their nursery over a stupid teddy bear while she was trying to relax after cleaning up from all their other escapades.
"Nuffin'," Fern pouted, staring up at Laurie.
Laurie glowered down at her angrily, but she paused as she saw the look in the woman's eye, saw that she was serious. This was the way little kids acted... And, as far as Laurie could tell, that was how these women seemed to think they should act as well, at the very least seeing nothing wrong with it. "You two need to grow up," Laurie sniffed, snatching the bear from in between them, both whining. "I'm putting you both to bed."
"But Laurie!" Amelia bounced in place. "We haven't ate supper yet! It's so early!"
"Maybe you'll think about that next time you act like bratty little babies," Laurie shrugged. "Now, come on, get up and march into the bathroom so we can brush your teeth. Or do you need a visit from the hairbrush while you're in there?"
That got the two of them moving, though Fern hung back bashfully, letting Amelia toddle on ahead. "Ummm... Laurie?" she blushed, scuffing her toe against the floor. "I-I haven't made poopies yet, and if you put me to bed now..."
"Then I guess you'll just have to spend all night in your stinky diaper," Laurie told her coldly. "The changing table is closed for the night."
"That's not fair!" Fern stomped her foot. In Laurie's opinion, however, that was exactly what it was. It would serve the two of them right to be stuck all night having to deal with the smell of Fern's dirty diaper... And the discomfort of a sore bottom.
"You think so, huh?" she crossed her arms. "Well, then I guess you and your sister will be spending some time with the hairbrush after all. Go on, keep being fussy... I can do this all night."
She couldn't, though, not really... She had a special task she had to do that evening, on the orders of Margot. Once she had the girls tucked away in their cribs in their bedroom, she was to go back to the nursery to put out their Easter baskets, and hide eggs for them to find the next morning. She was tempted not to do it, to tell their Mommy they didn't deserve treats, or their fun holiday activity, but she suspected Margot would disagree.
She was happy to take off the dress she'd worn to look after them, no longer concerned with looking mature for them - not that, in comparison, it was difficult - throwing on a pair of shorts and a flouncy shirt to hang out in the rest of the night. The baskets were easy enough; she just had to get them down from the back of the top shelf of the closet, where Margot had shown them she had them hidden. The eggs would take a big longer, she knew. She was only going to hide them in the nursery, since she'd decided it would be easier to keep the girls in there as much as possible, so there would only be one room they could destroy, and she'd have to straighten up, but she wasn't sure how hard she should make it. They could, theoretically, find them wherever she put them, though based on how they were acting, it felt like she needed to treat them like actual toddlers, setting the eggs basically in plain sight.
For the first one, however, she decided to be a little more sneaky. She'd been thinking about this since she'd arrived, and noticed the perfect spot her first evening, only to, ever since, be shown sign after sign that she couldn't trust the girls to be clever or mature enough to make enough of an effort in finding the eggs to have a chance of discovering it.
She put it there, anyway, feeling very smug as she planned out what she was going to do the next morning. Maybe she'd tell them, "The Easter Bunny left you a very special present, but it's only going to appear if you find every one of the eggs he hid!" Or maybe she'd be meaner and say, instead, "You can only get your diapers changed once you've found all the eggs, all right?" She probably wouldn't actually follow through on that... Probably. Margot had told her that she knew how much her girls liked staying in their diapers longer than they should, so if they did get a rash, she wouldn't blame Laurie...
That was so disgusting, Laurie thought, rolling her eyes. She couldn't imagine willfully going to the bathroom in her pants, much less wanting to stay in them afterwards, certainly not for long enough to get a diaper rash. She wrinkled her nose, so ready to get out of this place, away from these immature brats, tomorrow afternoon, once Margot got home and paid her. She didn't even notice, as she moved, the dribbling that had begun, the wet spot slowly spreading through her panties...
There was a lot about the way Amelia and Fern lived that she had a difficult time picturing anyone their age choosing. According to Margot, they spent almost all their time here, in the nursery, playing with these toys... How could they possibly find a bunch of blocks and stuffed animals and dollhouses entertaining enough for that?! She shook her head in disbelief, setting an egg on one of the tables, barely behind a framed picture of the two 'babies', glancing around the room...
And, to her surprise, finding an answer to her own question. Some of that stuff did look kind of fun, actually... That was silly to think, she knew, but the only way to know for certain if it was or not was to give it a try herself. She knew she had something she had to do first, but the more eggs she hid, the more tempting it was, until, after only a few more, she had to plop down and pick up one of the dolls herself, bouncing it around a dollhouse the way she'd seen the other girls do, giggling to herself, blushing as she realized she was doing it and trying to make herself stop, which just made it worse.
What finally shut her up was making herself stand up and get back to her eggs, reluctantly, and, as she did so, seeing a puddle on the carpet. "Ugh!" she groaned. "Dumb babies!" She was going to have to take care of that, too, now... She'd just throw that in the washer, and...
She hid another egg, her train of thought interrupted mid-stream. And what? How did the washing machine work again, exactly? She frowned, fidgeted, concentrating as hard as she could, brow furrowed. It was only by chance that she peered over her shoulder as her eyes darted around the room, searching for inspiration, for answers, and she saw the wet spot on the seat of her shorts.
"Gross!" she stomped her foot. She must have sat in the puddle without knowing! Or... Was it growing? She wiggled her bottom, her stomach twisting a bit, her recognition of that suddenly making her so much more aware of the dampness in her panties...
She had to wash those, too! If Margot saw them, and knew she'd had an accident, she'd... Well, Laurie didn't know, but she didn't want to find out, either! It was too bad, then, that she still didn't know how to wash them, what to do other than strip out of them. As much as she wanted to go back to the room she was staying in and get a dry pair, she could see the urine trickling down her leg, glistening, refusing to halt no matter what she did, as she had also forgotten, apparently, how to do that. Her best bet, she thought nervously, cheeks burning, was to put herself into one of the many diapers in the room...
That knowledge, annoyingly, was still in her head, even if it was a little awkward taping herself into them, as opposed to one of her charges. She had no idea what was going on, what was wrong with her, but, as much as she wanted to get on her phone and start searching WebMD to see if this meant something serious, she was eager to finish hiding the eggs, to get it over with.
It wasn't until she knelt down to hide one low and then couldn't work out how to get back onto her feet that she made the connection, that she realized what was going on. It seemed so obvious once she had, though she could hardly blame herself for not noticing earlier, as crazy as it was. It was the eggs! They were doing something to her, stealing away her knowledge, her maturity! Quickly, she grabbed the egg she'd just put down, hoping it would reverse it, but all that did was make her tumble forward onto her hands and knees in her rush to pick up the egg, and leave her trapped there.
"Oh, no!" she squealed, staring around the room, which felt so much bigger now, so much scarier, as she crawled around it in her diapers, more of a baby than either of her charges already... And there were still a few eggs left to hide. "Wh-What's happening?!"
"What happened," Margot told her, making Laurie flinch and squeak, clumsily turning around to see the woman standing in the doorway, watching, "is you were very mean to my little girls."
"N-No!" Laurie gulped, shaking her head, trying in vain once more to stand up, to remind her client that they were equals, that they were both grown-ups, despite how she looked now. "Th-They were naughty, so I punished them!"
"No," Margot repeated back to her. "You punished them because you didn't like how immature they were acting, didn't you?" Laurie nibbled her bottom lip, hating how accurately it seemed Margot was reading her mind. "I told you, young lady, that you were to treat them like they were toddlers... Would you have put a toddler to bed early, with no supper, for having a little disagreement with her sister? Or would you have made one stay in their messy diaper all night?"
"M-Maybe," Laurie fibbed.
Margot didn't respond to that, as if she hadn't heard it... Or knew as well as Laurie that it was a lie and not worth the time. "Well, if the way they act is so bothersome to you, then you can just let them borrow a bit of your maturity, can't you? Go on, Laurie... Hide the rest of the eggs. It doesn't seem like you have much more to lose anyway."
Laurie whimpered. It seemed so impossible, and yet here she was, on her hands and knees, in a diaper that was already wet, even if she didn't recall it happening, hadn't noticed until now, wiggling her backside in it. "B-But..."
"Go on," Margot ordered. "Don't worry, I'm sure the girls will put it all to good use. And if they find them all, I'll even return everything to you, how about that?" Not that it mattered... She was going to have to do it either way, Laurie knew.

Laurie was grateful neither of the girls had made fun of her when they'd been brought into the nursery the next morning and found her sitting there in her short, strawberry decorated shirt, diaper clearly visible beneath it, even if she was aware that was probably because their Mommy was back and keeping an eye on them. She watched them as they opened up their Easter baskets, sucking on her pacifier, waiting as patiently as possible for the egg hunt to begin so she could go back to being a big girl... And they could, too, as embarrassing as it would be to see them behaving more maturely than her until they finished.
Except... It didn't seem to matter. No matter how many eggs they found, they kept acting exactly the same. She frowned and squirmed, wondering what that meant, if, perhaps, she hadn't had as much maturity for them to steal as she'd assumed.
"Silly girl," Margot ruffled her hair. "Don't you get it? It isn't doing anything because they were always more mature than you... Just because they choose not to act like it sometimes doesn't mean they aren't, no matter what you think."
"B-But..." Laurie whined from behind her paci. "Wh-Why did you take it, then?"
"Because you thought they needed it," Margot smirked. "It's all right, though... They're doing so well, I'm sure they'll find all the eggs."
They didn't. They found all but one... The first one, the one she'd hidden away, certain they weren't smart enough to find it. It seemed, when it came to that at least, she was right... But if they didn't find it, she'd never get the rest of her maturity back!
"We give up, Mommy," Fern shrugged. "We looked everywhere!"
"No!" Laurie kicked her feet in frustration. "It's there!"
"Well, then why don't you show them where it is?" Margot suggested. "It's all right... I'll still count it as being found." She sent Laurie off to get it, patting her on the padded bottom. The girl crawled to the center of the room, concentrating as hard as she could, trying to remember where she'd put it. It was somewhere only a real adult would think to look... And she wasn't one of those anymore, was she?
"Mommy, look," Amelia giggled, pointing at Laurie, who pouted, not knowing why they were staring at her, or giggling... Until she reached behind herself and felt a lump growing in the seat of her diaper, head spinning at the revelation that she was in the midst of filling her pants, tears springing to her eyes as she realized she truly was just a baby again.
Margot led her to the changing table and helped her up onto it to put her into a fresh diaper. "You can keep looking if you want," she cooed. "Or, if you want to play..." She held out the teddy bear from the day before, the one the other girls had been fighting over, and, suddenly, Laurie could understand why they'd been so possessive, why they wouldn't want to share. She knew she ought to search some more, to win back her adulthood, but the bear so was cute... She found herself reaching out for it, too immature to think, or care, about the consequences as she took it and gave up on going back to being anything more than the most childish baby in the nursery.
