To her surprise, they'd seemed fine with it, although they appeared to believe this was all a part of a plan. "Good thinking," her mother had told her. "Get in on the ground floor, prove yourself, work your way up... They'll respect you more that way."
"That's right," her father had nodded along. "You'll be running that place in no time."
Was that really what Donna wanted? Not particularly... She was there because she needed something she could make some money at, at least temporarily, not as part of any grand plot. Still, if it kept them from breathing down her neck, lecturing her that she could, and should, be doing something bigger and better, she'd take it. "Yeah," she'd agreed. "I'll probably take it slow, though, just to be safe."
But the job was fun. Taking care of littles was always a delight, and certainly no problem for someone her size. And, as the only Amazon working there, other than the owner, Miriam, she felt so grown up, so proud that the other daycare workers turned to her for help when they needed to reach something on the very top shelf, or when they weren't quite strong enough to move something, or when one of the students needed an extra-hard spanking for being particularly naughty. She was perfectly happy with that... Or so she'd thought.
Then, one day, while she was straightening up some toys, she heard a small voice behind her. "Wow," it said. "I feel sorry for you."
Donna turned, not even thinking, at first, that it was aimed at her, just curious to see what was going on, if an incident was happening to another student that she ought to step in on. She only saw one little there, however, all by herself, a tiny, curly-haired redhead with freckles in a frilly, green dress that came nowhere near hiding her diaper. She was absolutely adorable, to the point where Donna was baffled she'd never noticed her before.
"Are you new, sweetie?" she asked with a smile. She didn't remember hearing about any new arrivals for the day, but maybe the news had missed her.
The girl ignored her. "It must be hard, doing all that work," the girl observed.
"Not at all," Donna chuckled. "I'm sure picking up toys seems tough to you - I bet that's why none of you littles ever want to do it - but for big girls like me, it's no big deal."
"Oh, I don't feel sorry for you because of that," the girl giggled.
Donna tilted her head. "Then why?"
"Seriously?" the girl raised an eyebrow. "Soooo many reasons! Your life must be so hard!"
Donna was shocked to hear those words, especially from a little. They always seemed to think Amazons had it easy, that they were the ones who had been dealt a bad hand. "What do you mean?" she had to ask.
"Well, for one," the girl replied, "look at those boring clothes you hafta wear. I can wear anything I want!"
"I could, too," Donna shrugged. "I have more options than you, really, because I don't have to worry about things going over my diaper. But I guess you aren't too concerned about that, either." She smirked, reaching over to grab the hem of the girl's dress, lifting it slightly and letting it flutter back down.
The girl showed no sign of being bothered by it, didn't pout and whine the way most littles would have. "You could never wear something this cute," she sniffed instead.
"I couldn't, huh?" Donna folded her arms. "We'll see about that."
She didn't really have anything to prove to this little girl, but something about the interaction stuck in her mind, and she couldn't help herself. She went out shopping that night, searching for cute outfits. It did, she had to admit, take longer than she'd expected, making her wonder if the girl had a point, though, at last, she found the perfect store.
The worker there, strangely enough, reminded Donna of the girl a bit, with the same red, curly hair and freckles, despite being a 'tweener. She was more than happy to help, picking out lots of dresses and short sets and rompers for Donna to try on. Donna got so swept up in it, she wound up buying several, as opposed to the one she'd intended on purchasing. It was for the best, however, she told herself... It would hardly prove anything to do it once.
She chose one of the short sets to start, one with pink, green, and white stripes, and a Peter Pan collar, finishing off the look with a pair of hair ribbons. When she took a gander at herself in the mirror, it was undeniable that she was, indeed, cute.
It wasn't until she stepped through the doors of the daycare that she began to question what she was doing, as the other workers filed in, giving her weird looks. Before any of the students had even arrived, while she was straightening up one of the playrooms, Miriam paid her a visit.
"Donna," the woman said, "did you forget about our dress code?"
"No," Donna lied. To be honest, she'd known it existed, though never bothered to read through it before signing her contract. "I just thought... Well, look at me." She gestured to herself, feeling silly as she followed her own advice, noting the difference between her and Miriam, wearing a far more mature dress. "There's no way anybody would mistake me for one of the students, not like some of the 'tweeners here, so what does it matter?"
Miriam sighed, shook her head. "It matters because you agreed to dress a certain way when you took this job, young lady. Now, are you going to go home and change?"
Donna locked eyes with her. She could have, yes, and she was beginning to wonder if she should... But she'd already bought these clothes, and if she backed down now, it would mean the girl had been right. "No, I'm not," she declared.
In a flash, she was over her boss's knees, shorts and panties around her ankles. She gasped in shock, wriggling in place, hardly able to believe what was going on as Miriam delivered a hard swat to her bare bottom. "What did you say, young lady?!" the woman demanded.
She wasn't sure what came over her, other than a desire to prove the little girl wrong. "I said," she stuck her tongue out defiantly, "I can wear whatever I want!"
And, it turned out, she could... Just with a very sore backside under her shorts.
Had it really been worth it? It hadn't felt that way in the moment, kicking and squealing on Miriam's lap, feeling her bottom grow warm and pink, praying the shorts were long enough to hide the marks. Every swat, however, strengthened her resolve, made her more determined not to give in, not to let this be for nothing, so that, when it was over, and Miriam gave her a hug, then helped her to her feet, tugging her clothes back up, and asked, "Are you going to change now?" Donna still shook her head.
Thankfully, Miriam hadn't gone in for a second round. She rolled her eyes, but shrugged. "Fine," she said. "I expect to see you dressed properly tomorrow."
Despite the throbbing in her backside, Donna was happy, eager to show the girl that she'd been wrong the day before. In the flurry of drop-off, she didn't see the girl arrive, though, sure enough, once it was over, she was able to find her, playing with one of the dollhouses. "See?" Donna bragged smugly, adjusting her shirt. "Pretty cute, right?"
The girl looked her up and down. "Yeah, I guess," she replied noncommittally.
"You guess?!" Donna glared at her. "You listen here.... What is your name?"
"Fiona," the girl answered.
"You listen here, Fiona," Donna said. "This outfit is adorable, and I'm wearing it no problem, so you can..."
"I still feel sorry for you, though," Fiona cut her off. "They make you do so much work around here... I've been watching, and you have to do everything for them! You know what I have to do?" Fiona smirked. "Nothing."
"That's because you can't do anything," Donna shot back. "You're just a tiny little baby."
"A tiny little baby who gets to sit around and play all day, something you'd never be able to do," Fiona responded, somehow making that sound far more appealing than Donna ever would have expected.
The words stuck in her mind, the same way the ones yesterday had, and she made note of everything the other workers asked for her help with. As much as she did, they should, at the very least, pay her more, she thought. Or they could give her one day to take it easy...
Of course, it would be a hollow victory to prove Fiona wrong about this while admitting she had been right about the first thing, so she picked out a purple, lace-trimmed dress to wear the next day. It was a bit shorter than she'd recalled it being at the shop when she tried it on, but with a pair of shorts underneath, she felt pretty secure in it... And in hiding the effects of the inevitable spanking that came when Miriam called her to her office to see if she'd followed her orders from the morning before.
It was simple enough after that... All she had to do was nothing, plopping herself down in the middle of the playroom and watching everyone else do their job. They did come to her for help, as usual, and she'd tell them she'd get to it, but she was determined not to, not until she'd proven her point to Fiona, who she could see keeping an eye on her from the other side of the room.
Eventually, Miriam came in, towering over Donna, sitting on the floor. "Your co-workers have been complaining," she said. "Are you planning on doing anything today, young lady?"
Donna's eyes turned towards Fiona, and, despite the twinge of fear she felt, she shook her head. "No, I don't think so," she replied. "I've done so much every other day... I think I'm allowed one day to take it easy, don't you?"
Miriam's eyes flashed with anger. "You want to take it easy, huh? The only people who get to take it easy here are the students. Is that what you want?" Without waiting for an answer, she grabbed Donna by the wrist, hauling her to her feet, over to the changing area, where she pulled out a changing pad, spreading it out on the floor threateningly, the implications crystal clear.
Donna squirmed, swallowing nervously, glancing between her boss and Fiona. Miriam was, obviously, far more intimidating, and yet... Giving up now, letting Fiona win, almost seemed worse, like the little girl had pulled one over on her, outsmarted her...
"F-Fine," she said, as confidently as she could manage. "Do it."
Miriam looked surprised, and annoyed, grabbing a pacifier and shoving it into Donna's mouth in frustration before picking up a diaper and starting to unfold it. "All right," she growled. "If that's what you think you want, then you're going to get it, you little brat..."
Donna began to regret her decision as soon as her shorts came down, exposing her toasty, red bottom to the whole playroom. The shorts didn't get returned to her, either, leaving her little choice other than to stay seated, carefully adjusting the skirt of her dress to keep the padding underneath from showing every time she moved ever-so-slightly, which she found impossible to avoid as she tried in vain to get used to the strange feeling of all that extra bulk around her waist.
As such, she had to wait for Fiona to approach her, too embarrassed to waddle her way over to the girl. She tried to wave her over so she could talk to her, but Fiona pretended not to notice her for a while, playing contentedly with a set of blocks by herself, before, finally, wandering over.
"Wow," the girl giggled as she got closer, toddling around Donna. "I feel sorry for you."
"What are you talking about?!" Donna mumbled behind her pacifier, then, with red cheeks, took it out and tried again when Fiona acted like she couldn't understand her. "They aren't making me do anything!"
"Sure," Fiona shrugged. "But you know what I can do that you can't?" She squatted down shamelessly, right in front of Donna, Donna blushing for the girl as, without a second thought, she filled her diaper. "I can do that whenever and wherever I want, and someone else always cleans up after me."
Donna was almost too flustered to reply. She'd seen plenty of littles use their diapers, of course; somehow, this was different. There was no embarrassment, no sign that Fiona saw it as a bad thing, no attempt to act as if it had been an accident, like she hadn't meant to do it... She was using it as a point of pride, as something Donna should aspire to.
It was a ridiculous claim... However... The more she thought about it, the more sense it made. It was more convenient, being able to use her diaper... And having another person deal with the after-effects could be seen as a display of power, in a way...
"I-I..." Donna fidgeted, hands playing anxiously with the hem of her dress, trying to convince herself to say it, knowing that would mean, inevitably, she'd have to prove it. "I-I could do that, too..."
"I don't know," Fiona told her. "I don't think you have it in you. Not everyone is cut out for this life."
She toddled away again before Donna could figure out how to respond. Theoretically, she could do it... It would be easy. If she closed her eyes, pretended she was in a bathroom, surely she could make it happen. But... Was it worth it? Why was she so determined to show this one little girl up? Why did she care if Fiona was taking pity on her?
She did, though... She wasn't certain if there was a part of her that believed what Fiona was saying, or just that she hated the idea of a little thinking she was better than her in any way, but she did care.
And that was why, against her better judgement, she wet her diaper. She couldn't quite bring herself to mess; if Fiona brought that up, however, she could say she didn't need to right now. It was embarrassing enough, feeling the padding beneath her growing warm and squishy, thinking about what it was she was doing as the faint whiff of ammonia hit her nose, a scent she was very familiar with from her time working here, yet had never expected to experience coming from herself...
She looked around for Fiona to show her what she'd done and didn't see her, but that was fine... She'd only done half of it so far anyway. She waited for one of the workers to come near and grabbed the hem of the other woman's skirt, gave it a tug, lifting her own skirt. Her co-worker seemed confused, then scurried off, leaving Donna soggy and pouting, wondering if Fiona had been right about her not having anyone to clean up after her.
And then her co-worker returned, Miriam in tow. Donna gulped, squirming, finding herself starting to suck on her paci instinctively as she stared up at her boss. "All right, young lady," Miriam fumed. "I've had enough of this... This behavior is absolutely unacceptable... For an employee. But I guess that isn't what you want to be, is it?"
Donna shook her head. "N-No, I do!" she insisted. "I-I was just..."
"You were just demonstrating how much you deserve to be a student, instead," Miriam finished for her. "Well, if that's what you want, young lady, then that's what you'll get." And, to make sure everyone knew about the change in her station, after Miriam changed Donna into a dry diaper, she took away her dress, putting her into a baby blue t-shirt, one that left no hope of Donna keeping her diaper hidden in. "Go on," Miriam ordered, sending her crawling away with a pat on the bottom. "Go play with your new classmates."
Donna, of course, was starting to regret her decision now, though it was too late to do anything about it. Even if she told Miriam the truth, admitted she'd done it all to impress a little, would that really help her case? Maybe not, unless Fiona spoke to Miriam herself, let the woman see how persuasive she was. She whimpered softly into her paci, wondering how she'd let herself be fooled so easily, searching for Fiona, but she didn't seem to be anywhere. The only thing Donna could find, no matter how hard she searched, was a four-leaf clover in front of the blocks she'd last seen the girl playing with.
She picked it up for a moment, a funny feeling building in the pit of her stomach before she dropped it, shaking her head, telling herself that, no matter how close it might be to St. Patrick's Day, there was no way it could mean what she thought it did. Either way, she certainly wasn't going to keep it, however, positive that, the way things had been going lately, there was no way it was going to bring her the kind of luck she needed to make things go back to normal.

I love this story. I love it when an Amazon gets diapered. I wonder how her parents are going to take it when they find out lol
