Updates, Translations and all sorts of stuff!
🕑 Added 2021-10-25 21:08:49 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Just wanted to make a few announcements after such a long time of silence! (A couple of minutes, if you follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/SandraMJdev )
First of all: I'm aiming to release the Japanese translation of chapters 1 and 2, courtesy of my friend Shi-chan, on November 24th provided we find someone available to proofread in Japanese in time! If that's you: call me.
The French and Spanish translations of chapter 3 will be delayed until 2022 because holy crap that chapter is long. The French translator Benjamin Beziat has a life, my partner and usual partner in crime for the Spanish translation Alex García is in college and I have a chapter to develop (and a home to provide for and a college to pay for).
On the development side of things:
I plan to update and improve the GUI for the Encyclopaedia and Diary, you can see my plans on the preview image! All that's left is seeing if I can actually do what I want or I'm going to need to seek programming help (most likely).
As you can see above, I'm also updating the sprite for the Merchant because I drew the old one in 2017 and hadn't ever gotten around to drawing him closer to the current style :,>
I managed to squash a couple of bugs, but the Diary achievement bug (where it's sometimes granted without full completion) eludes me.
On the bizdev side of things:
I'm currently looking for investment, funding and publishers so that I can go back to developing The Hayseed Knight full time (or as full as it gets knowing the amount of jobs I have).
I'll let you know if this is a successful enterprise, but until then, I continue to rely on Patreon and the game itself to finance development.
On the personal side of things:
This part is going to get very real, sadly. You may be aware that throughout 2021 my health has all but gone to hell. I haven't been able to catch a break from working to provide for me and my partner, all the same.
In a couple of days I'll go through what will hopefully provide at last some definitive tests on what's wrong with me, but from what the doctor said, the prognostic is very worrying just from the symptoms alone.
Your support has allowed me to maintain a better quality of life throughout the most harrowing times, when I was too weak and too exhausted to work every single day. I don't know what the future has in store for me, but I'm thankful that you're all a part of my present.
To end on a happier note — if you're thirsting for some more content from me in the meantime, September was a busy month thanks to Spooktober VN Jam! You can play the game I co-created, The Remains of my Affection, and the game I provided casting, voice direction and script editing for, Wolfskin's Curse! They're great, rather spooky and romantic respectively, and I really hope you enjoy them!
