minor edit "Mike, it's a pleasure to you again," Kellan smiled down at the man" -> ""Mike, it's a pleasure to see you again," Kellan smiled down at the man

Cool! Nice answers Jahx - I love the way you've thought through this stuff so deeply. Makes the story so much richer!

Richard Reid

1. That's an important question. Does Monroe want the burden of sapience? Does Bob have the right to make that decision for him? I'm saying no, Bob doesn't, and be cause Monroe isn't sapient, he can't advocate for it. Bob has no problem leveling up Monroe, because Monroe has clearly expressed happiness at being larger and stronger. 2. There will be, at some point, a scene where Kellan delivers his approval of the feline overlord. 3.) If Bob knew that exchanging higher level crystals for lower level crystals was an organized process, he might do that. This is one of those moments where the reader knows more than the MC, as Bob wasn't involved in the conversation Nora had about converting crystals, or her experience with the Church's bursar. 4.) Kellan does still delve. While Dhoakes may be the Curator of the Dungeon in Harbordeep, the dirty secret is that the King has built the past twenty some odd floors himself. He's tier eight, faux tier ten (much like Bob pushing into tier seven), and he has five natural affinities, which makes his leveling speed glacial.

Curious questions 1. Will Monroe continue to develop (cf. the comment about purrs and the Grand Canyon - Monroe can communicate "curious-warm-explore" already; if Bob continues to level him up, presumably they will communicate even better. But I guess we also need to ask - does Monroe want to level up?) 2. Monroe and Kellan seem to share some characteristics (enjoying their own majesty). It would be fun for them to connect/talk 3. IIRC, higher level crystals are worth more; presumably Bob could trade some of his crystals for cheaper ones so his C200/week spend is less? 4. Does Kellan still delve? If not, would there be a risk that at some point someone else will catch up to his level? (Obviously it would take years, but if he doesn't delve at all, presumably it would happen)

I really enjoyed this chapter - I think it had lots of my favourite people (Mike, Kellan, Bob, Monroe, Jessica - just need some of the original guild dinner crew along to complete the set :) "hearing the unhappy words they muttered at his revelation." => Kellan learns some less common words from the English dictionary... I enjoyed the "Grand Canyon" to Jessica transition - for a moment there I thought Bob was going to invite her on the hike. That would be classic!

@Jaxh, unclear words: "sharing space for five other guys," => "sharing space with five other guys," "which we even we can figure" => "which even we can figure" "two hundred and forty crystals" => "two hundred and forty thousand crystals" "it's a pleasure to you again" => "it's a pleasure to see you again" "Those people of acquaintances" => "Those people have acquaintances" "when up and disappear" => "when they up and disappear"

Thidwell is not evil. And neither is Kellan 😂

So, I subscribe to the idea that any sapient species has a very limited window of opportunity in which they must develop the technology to leave their home planet and ideally their solar system in order to survive the inevitable extinction level events that would otherwise doom them to historical obscurity and, well, death. In my mind there are probably half a dozen living civilizations at any given time and there are thousands maybe even hundreds of thousands of sapient species that have been wiped out and only ruins remain.

I have a hard time believing that Earth is the only planet with sapients in the entire observable universe. I guess it'd be pretty gruesome since they'd be doomed unless they're already very advanced. Even if they are, built megastructures could make everything worse for them. I saw your comment about how Greenworld is Dragon-Australia. Which means that the older dragons that seeded the planet are dark/evil aligned. Evil space dragons, great. Stellaris tells me that you need 30k fleetpower to deal with a big-ass space dragon.

Son of a gun. I would have willingly donated to a fund to get a video of Bruce Campell just saying all the King's lines. Now my only recourse is to attempt to stitch together some sort of audio-abomination out of clips from Burn Notice.

Forrest Hinkle

I just checked, and sadly, Bruce Campbell does not do videos on Cameo. :D

Thank you!

Love me that draconic diplomacy 😀
