He'll make the offer and she'll be like 'Nah I'm still good for another 60 years.'

India is neither a physical neighbor nor a traditional ally. It's weirder that New Zealand isn't there, as one of the Five Eyes. And although India is linguistically a major part of the Anglosphere, culturally it is extremely different. "X is wherever Xians are," and Indians bring their caste system and sectarian conflicts wherever they go. So, while deserving of respect, India would not be looked to for aid in an existential crisis.

You fool, Warren is dead!

Bob's gonna reboot the Queen, isn't he?

Phillip Hunsicker

Where is India or is america worries about the population of india even though it is a democracy?

Was kinda hoping we wouldn't have to imagine this part of the evac... thought that was the point of getting someone else in charge...to take of all the gritty details and we could focus on MC's story. Even then... MC being a bit too patient with these power pushers

Happy birthday!

Ok large scale of course you’re right but like Bob has said he expects at most 50% survival. That means out of 7.5 billion people at least 3.75 billion people will probably die (that’s 3,750,000,000 ppl). I’m betting 25% is much more realistic which means 5.625 billion people die. That’s a lot of people and when they come back there will be a lot of empty space.

Except she doesn’t actually say those slang words to anyone. She keeps them in her head and everyone uses slang when thinking to themselves. And the curse at the end could have easily come out of any of the leaders there because I’m pretty sure all them were thinking very similar things.

Nice chap. I know the story trends to be more on the easy-going conflict free side, but it's hard to believe that these guys would just like that eat this story about magic and parallel dimensions. It's so beside reality, no piece of paper should ever make them consider that as fact, and since when are we at the stage "doomsday is coming, we don't have even a spark of proof, but we don't question it"? As reality shows us, proof, facts, logic, arguments don't work, people will believe whatever they want to believe no matter what. So even with proof about the Apocalypse, most wouldn't believe it, it's just too surreal, this whole "yes, let's change our worldview, let's leave everything behind, become a refugee and walk into some magic space anomaly because it's the end of the world" will never work at any kind of large scale. Sorry to be a critic, but I see just these options, and they are depressing: -billions of deaths -deus ex -unbelievable unrealistic behavior/solutions that somehow work against all logic

Andrew

Thank you!

Richard Reid

I probably did, but without the details, they came off as awful villains. I tried rewriting that chapter over and over, before I gave up and just committed to not making them monsters.

John O'Connor

OK. The Aussie slang wouldn’t be used by our PM in a meeting of heads of state. Most of us don’t actually sound like that and anyone who goes into politics would know how to fit their language to the audience.

Katarak

I understand the need for worldbuiling, but unless you are planning to make all of these leaders reoccurring characters I think you went into a little to much detail for them.

Russell

A chapter on my birthday! Thanks
