The Annisa and Mike scene is coming, as is the much put upon Nora. As for natural weapon affinity, the only person who could use that is Monroe. I probably should have walked through Bob's logic a bit more thoroughly there. The bit where affinities increase your cost to level are only applicable if they are natural/species affinities. Crystals don't count. He is experiencing that now as he does the math. With only crystals and no natural affinities, it's a eighty crystals per level for the first eight levels. With three natural affinities, it's 160, then 320, then 640. The next threshold, levels nine to sixteen would be 160, but with instead it would be 320, 640, 1280. Luckily, the reward for completely clearing a Dungeon (which takes between three to five hours) is between three hundred and five hundred crystals, on average. Still, those last eight levels are over 10k crystals a pop. It's less of a big deal for Bob, because a mad man, grinding out like it's his job. But for the average person who delves once a week, it starts to look pretty intimidating. The issue of delves being available hasn't been shown yet.

All good stuff, but..... Annisa was waiting on Mike to come down to the dining room. Why didn't she talk to Mike immediately instead of being MIA and Bob having to warn Mike about her? Same with Raul, I'd have expected him to go to Jack instead of lounging around waiting on the group to have breakfast first. I do like what we got, but where are the conversations with Thidwell, Huron, and Nora? I wish there had been a chat with Austan also. Comedy gold was to be had there. Why wasn't the natural weapon affinity crystal even considered? If he's going to continue to be a summoner, and his summoned creature benefits from the abilities he has, one would think that natural weapons would make the raptor's attacks much better. Just a thought. Still a huge fan :) Part of what I love about this story is that while Bob is a tad overpowered because of some extras that other people don't have (divine magic without a god, Trebor, etc) 95% of his abilities are either things that anyone else could do now that Bob has discovered 'secrets' and told others, or things he gained through significant personal pain and effort. Yes, he has been lucky, but as the saying goes, "luck is when preparation meets opportunity". I'll also be interested to see if people "worshiping" Bob/Monroe results in him getting bonuses from his worshippers similar to how the previous gods would get. Not that he's a god tomorrow, but he's getting enough bonus power such that his penalties for the additional affinities he has are mitigated or eliminated. Perhaps his costs for leveling are in line with a normal human rather than the huge penalty he has to be carrying now because of 5 affinities. Is that 32X the xp and crystals to level up? If he doesn't get bonuses somehow, I don't see how he's going to get to tier 9, let alone any farther in my lifetime. That or we'll have a 50 year time jump of "Ok, that was my eight hundred thousandth dungeon since we last talked, 93 billion monsters, and I'm finally able to tier up to 9.
