I think Bob will have to demonstrate might makes right

DANTE

Maybe i didnt explain myself correctly, I'm saying that the Defense secretary thought are coherent with someone in that position and doing do would make government life easier, not that i would support it, I argued for a strong population that can just turn around and fight back if the government goes sideway but a government with a strong enough presence that stop random individuals to just do as they please. the point about harbordeep was that people there can chose to stay and live safely or take the risk and leave to have a faster advancement, and lower costs, the problem is the increase in corruption make life difficult for the one that decide to stay, not the system itself. people didn't have bob telling them a good path and optimal build before and he doesn't have to work or risk anything for those information, he is also an a bit if an idealist so he has no problem sharing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Bob will prevent the US military from what will obviously be an attempt to railroad the efforts. Right now, they're at the optimal level of availability. They're working for a cause and on task. When the regular military gets involved it'll include the... Unsavoury elements of not only the US military, but US politics and foreign policy. I'm glad we've already seen that Bob's not a fan of authority like that to begin with. I foresee some rather interesting conflict, and some tragic ones at that. I also foresee a lot of the tragic and conflicting elements will die in the mega wave that'll come eventually because I'm convinced they'll not believe Bob about that fact until it's already too late for them. Because politicians regardless of nation tend to be short-sighted and stupid. I also imagine there'll be an interesting interaction with the Dragon King before then. Because what little we saw of the king, he seemed reasonable, and I'd not bet against his power. But we'll see.

Sure yeah, and the nobles are in that position because they have stronger paths. If the people could "savely" leave and create their own towns they long would have. Just look at the exodus that happened after the new paths became known. You argue for the goverment to restrict the level of people to make it easier to monitor/enforce peace. How that would not feed into increasing supression of the general population I can't see. Corruption just feeds into that. I would guess dungeon access will become a basic human right, and restricting paths or levels would be needed to be accepted generally, and I don't see that happening. Maybe paths that work with the soul or necromany, but so far we haven't seen any of that.

DANTE

the world doesn't work how you wish it does, Harbordeep for all its flaws its safe so the risk is capital and the standard risk involved with delving, a bit of work to increase interest in delving for beginners and maybe the creation of a new dungeon for trainers would probabily do the trick, the problem they have is corruption not a bad system and the problem Tyland has isn't extinction but slow expansion, we are used to the modern world so id doesnt look like it if you look at it from the prospective of a civilization that conquers the planet but humans have a solid foothold and arent in any danger of going extinct

Banroth

Resetting and giving up your protection and income just to test a potential path isn't worth it when death in form of a wave is just around the corner for adventurers. Once everyone is more or less save from eradication I can see keeping paths for oneself as viable, but until then all paths should be shared to ensure survival of the race.

DANTE

the nobles retain knowledge to make their life easier, they don't stop anybody from finding a new pat or trying things, bob can cheat and has access to unlimited knowledge so he thinks its unfair but there is notting stopping a random adventure from killing a tier higher monster for affinity cristal, reincarnate using it and picking up skills hoping it gives a good path, its risky for sure but i don't think bob understand the difficulty of coming up with good new pats and the risk the original noble took to get it, the problem I see is thet it degenerates with the generations, not holding path knowledge back, everyone has the possibility to discover it, I wouldn't keep the knowledge about affinity crystals secret but i wouldn't give my path to the public either

Banroth

But that's excatly what the nobels have been doing. And look at what Bob thinks about that.. If the US want to install something like that, he should just turn around and tell to endless to stop working with the US

DANTE

you need a government to be able to enforce some rules, you don't want the government to be able to do whatever it wishes, the response of the def dude seems appropriate for a military commander, get as much military power possible to enforce peace, possibly stop people from getting to high level so they have an easier time. it will happen anyway, you just need an high level dude to do the same, the only point i have un disagreement is that everyone should have the possibility to get as much levels as thei wished, wich nake government life harder but you don't need that much anyway since being self sustaining is easy with the system and the only rules you actually need to enforce are don't steal or murder but without a reliable way to tell people capability its beyond stupid to pick a fight, so ye, the government is needed, you realistically pay some taxes for basic welfare and law enforcement/military to keep high lvls or other nations in check but the combat redy population keep the government in check as well

Would you rather politics get in the way of the upcoming apocalypse? As soon as more than the US is in position to fight for resources, everything will grind to a halt, and then hardly anybody else is getting saved. Leave it to the American military first, let America evacuate their populace so they'll be in a position to do so for the rest of the world. Sure, it'll mean the dissolution of the sovereignty of every other nation, but this is the apocalypse, they're lucky any nation is surviving, and if anyone was to survive, America's the objectively best nation to do so. We're the ones that genuinely believe in personal liberty as the Enlightenment philosophers imagined it, instead of just giving it lip service like the rest of the world.

Banroth

I hope Bob will be antagonistic to the Def secretaries plan to give the US even more advantages. They have an head start, but to save as many people as possible other nations have to be made aware as soon as possible.
