Richard Reid

Sorted, thanks!

PeeM

"Events had progressed at a pace the ensured he'd needed to spend very little time on Earth thus far. " 'that ensured'? "It wasn't so much that he actively disliked them, so much as that he'd instead they left him alone. 'he'd instead prefer they'?

Richard Reid

Reincarnating drops him back to level zero. He would remain tier six, and would enjoy all the benefits of the species change, such as the increased levels between threshold which inherently lower the overall crystal cost for leveling, as well as any species specific bonuses, such as affinities. If he made a lateral species change beforehand, he wouldn't retain his current paragon species, although by taking the 'Return to the Beginning' divine blessing, he could still drop down to his original tier five human form.

So if he tiers up then reincarnates does he remain tiered up. Does he also retain his previous forms like he did with paragon if he wants to pay the costs

Richard Reid

Yeah, it's long term. Will he go Yheeldar, or just jump to tier seven pinnacle? How fast could he slam to tier eight, and what's available there? These are the thoughts running through Bob's head, all accompanied by his desire to remain human which is in conflict with the fact that he doesn't really like people, with a few exceptions.

Forrest Hinkle

So, his musings on making a race change again are a long term goal at best? If he has to be at the cap and have that much in the way of resources, wouldn’t it just be better to go to tier 7 and reincarnate from there? Of course, he would then have to agonize over which tier 7 race would be the best while still looking human. 😁

Richard Reid

He's pretty well all in on summoning, he just needs a path that lets him maximize that. At the moment, he has multiple skills that let him put up an aura to do reactive elemental damage, just because he was out of skills to take from the school, and he didn't have another school, but he did have bonus skills. All part of the 'Punish that MC' train. He's pretty well past it.

Richard Reid

You can make a lateral species change (tier 6 - tier 6, for this example) if you are at the tier cap, and you have enough mana crystals to have completely leveled that race from zero to the tier cap. For something with a natural affinity that can be a hard row to hoe. Chronomancy is more about stepping to the side and letting time pass you by, and it's only really used for stasis, at least in this story.

Forrest Hinkle

Finally, how does a lateral race change even work? I thought they could only change races during a tier-up? Can they also do it as part of resurrection? I swear… If this story adds time travel to its list of ways to have a do-over, I’m out! Lol

Forrest Hinkle

Also, he spent so much time whining about being anything other than human. Picking paragon, which was annoying until he gets the opportunity to make it what he wants. Which I thought was cool and made up for his inability to change to anything better. But now he wants to change race anyway, having set the model for paragons for the rest of humanity even though he won’t be using it himself. “Meh. Forget humanity, I never really liked it anyway.”

Forrest Hinkle

This is starting to give me flashbacks of My years playing WoW and other mmos. Never getting to the end game content because of constantly re-rolling new characters. I wish he’d pick something and stick to it.

Andrew

Thank you!

Richard Reid

Those early morning chapters :)

Richard Reid

Heh, book one was 155k words, ended at chapter fifty-seven. Book two was 205k words, and ended at chapter one hundred and thirty-seven. You're in book three, and you're just starting to get into the major plot arcs :)

Craxuan

Why does it feel like we're nearing the end of book 1 (actually are we in book 2 now?) or something?

Mr. Bigglesworth

Too easy sometimes, le sigh.
