Extra History Topic Suggestions are OPEN until 2/27!
🕑 Added 2025-02-20 18:24:17 +0000 UTCHello Historians, our next Extra History series theme is Things Fall Apart.
These days, it feels like an era is ending and the institutions we depended on are falling apart. We're looking at times in the past when this happened, when progress rolled back or when rights that seemed secure were suddenly under threat. Let’s learn what happens when the pillars of a society start to fall—maybe it can teach us what to expect.
For example, it could be about the failure of Reconstruction, the Spanish-American War and the beginning of the American Empire, or the beginning of the English Civil Wars.
You can enter YOUR suggestions for the topic HERE in this form.

Some notes about suggestions:
Suggestions should feature content before the 1930s
If a suggestion we encounter only has enough research material/production scope for a one-off episode instead of a full series, we file it in a separate list to reference later when we are planning to schedule a one-off episode between series (this is true for every survey we do).
Only one suggestion per person, please! Multiple suggestions from the same person during any given survey period will be manually removed. Extra History Suggestion Survey is OPEN until 12/26.
We can't wait to read all your suggested topics!

Bone-Head
2 topics I’d argue for are either the sabotage of Reconstruction or the weaknesses of the Weimar Republic that lead to failure.

How about the collapse of the post WW1 empires: Russia; the Ottomans; and Austria-Hungary.
