To the point of why they don't "feel" cheaper, in extreme brief: aggregate studies (i.e.: bureau of labor statistics data) count all dollars as equally effective, act as though money is normally distributed (i.e.: along an even curve), and are completely ignorant of what you must spend (i.e.: taxes; costs of living) because the concept of inflexible goods/services, necessary variability, or imperfect agency get in the way of neat models. The reality is, as a percentage of discretionary spending, AAA games are still pretty pricey for most people, as other specific costs have way outpaced general inflation and wages. A big issue that I've run across while gaming is kids playing games meant for adults, Call Of Toxicity for example, I mean Call Of Duty, or Grand Griefer Auto, I mean Grand Theft Auto.

I'm having flashbacks to the episode where EC tried defending microtransactions saying games were more expensive to make.

One thing I'm not sure was touched on was the growth of the audience size. By not raising prices in the disc era, games went from out-of-reach for alot of families to affordable. They kept increasing scope, but families could afford a couple $50 games a year. If the PSX games cost "what they should have" I never would have been able to play even half of what I got.
