Animal experiments: from Galen's Monkeys to Pavlov's Dogs.

Jacob White

There was a russian project where they turned wild foxes into domestic dogs over the course of generations via selective breeding. While some animals are viable for domestication (i.e the Horse, Dog, or Chicken) others such as the Zebra are unable to domesticated. This is in spite of the Zebra being in the same family as the domestic horse we know today. However, an exception is made for the wild horses that roam the American West to this day.

History of the relationship between humanity and wolves -- fear and loathing (as represented in fairy tales), alleged werewolf outbreaks in the early modern period, efforts to drive wolves to extinction in North American as supposed threats to livestock, and finally conservation and reintroduction programs.

I am very much aware of the reasons behind this tragedy and I brought up the connections to the First Nations in my submission. I trust that if this topic is picked that Extra Credit will treat it with the respect it deserves. I truly hope not to be proven wrong.

I would like to say that your idea is good, but it also is attached to the first nations, and the white buffalo prophecy. This could be a sensitive subject, just a heads up.

domestication of the horse as far as we know

Part of the decimation was to progress the erasure of the Indigeneous tribes, as the saying then went "Kill the indian, Save the man". This was because many of the tribes depended on the buffalo such as the Mandan, the Lakota, the Hunkpapa, etc. The first laws to protect the bison were passed in the Idaho territory back in 1864 and then more laws followed. Ironically, some bison herds are privately owned and managed such as the one owned by media titan Ted Turner.
