The conflict began when Bishop Theophilus exposed a secret pagan temple, inciting fury among the pagans who retaliated by taking Christian hostages. As violence escalates, a message from Theophilus offers a deal—surrender and be pardoned or face execution. The pagans capitulate, but the Serapeum's destruction follows.

oh boy the comment about Neoplatonists not worshiping Zeus is wrong. So many of their authors mention the Hellenic deities by name, most commonly Zeus but others are mentioned too. Proclus, Imbalchus, Plotinus, Salitius, and of course Plato himself, all talk about the Theoi, about the Gods. Some of them wrote books that were just about them, Salitius' most famous work is called on the Gods and the Cosmos after all and he was an adviser to Julian the Philosopher. Platonism, especially NeoPlatonism, is a lot like the Hindu Philosophical tradition of Advaita Vedanta. The two philosophical traditions are very similar in world view and yet Advaita Vedanta is clearly considered(and rightfully so) in the Hindu world view. I did write up a more longer post for lies though.

Historically, having multiple religions together is ALWAYS a recipe for disaster, up to and including religion-based revolts. 'Freedom of Religion' is a very recent (as in the last 6 or less centuries) concept in human sociology, and the historical trend is still trending despite that.
