Our next Extra History theme is Give Peace a Chance!
You might've noticed that the channel has been unusually heavy on military topics recently. Part of that is how the votes broke, and part is what was being suggested, but no more! We all need a break from fighting—so let's give peace a chance.
This is a Patron's Choice month... in other words, go nuts! There are no restrictions or themes other than that it should be something you want to see and falls before our 1939 cutoff. We only ask that it not be primarily a military topic. Can it involve war? Sure, we're not going to kick a topic because it has some element that touches on war, but it shouldn't be primarily about war. (For example, the topic "Queen Elizabeth I" would make the list despite her wars with Spain, but "The Spanish Armada" would not. Got it?)
Not only does this give you the opportunity to throw on writers, painters, doctors, or scientists, but it also opens up the possibility of returning to topics that were unfinished or a one-off that could be expanded upon. Want to finally get those last few episodes on Otto von Bismarck? How about Teddy Roosevelt beyond Trustbusting, or even one of those folks we've mentioned offhand that deserve a series of their own? Or is there a topic you've been dying to suggest but hasn't fit the themes? Provided it could be covered in 4-5 episodes, now's your chance!

Some notes about suggestions:
- If a suggestion we encounter only has enough research material/production scope for a one-off episode instead of a full series, we file it in a separate list to reference later when we are planning to schedule a one-off episode between series (this is true for every survey we do).

Hard to argue that's not a primarily military topic

History of Buddhism. The impression of Buddhism for pacifism may not be ENTIRELY deserved (the Ikko Ikki say hi!) but it's still overall a non-war topic. The History of Buddhism is obviously pretty huge but it's as important to understanding the history of Asia (one of the rare times that "Asia" actually does mean nearly the entire continent - from the Hindu-Buddhists in Nusantara to the Zen, Shinto, and Jodo Sinshu in Japan to the Mongols to Lankan Buddhism in Sri Lanka to the Kalmyks in Eastern Europe) as Christianity is Europe. During EH's Early Christian Schisms series way back, you said that it was hard to talk medieval European history without devoting time to Christian theology. IMHO Buddhism is the same way for Asian history. In many previous EH topics involving Asian history (any Japanese topic, Angkor, Majapahit, the Mongols, Ibn Battuta...) Buddhism comes up as an element but there's never time to focus on it. It would also be interesting to see how Buddhism has been viewed in the West and how it's been used to suit various Western political causes in the modern era.

The Protestant Reformation - an important subject and still relevant to this day. Many splits from the "mainstream" of religions still occur very similarly to the Reformation...

I took the prompt literally and suggested a series on the Concert of Europe and how diplomats tried to maintain peace in a post-Napoleonic world.

I chose Hernando de Soto's expedition through North America, with a hard emphasis on the peoples and civilizations his men encountered. These were some pretty advanced civilizations that no one knows about.
