But Phillip looked upon the current puny size of the English army, and ordered the attack anyway...

Well, John of Bohemia was the Eldest Son of Henry VII, the Holy Roman Emperor, was raised in Paris [and French by Education] and lost his Eyesight aged 39 or 40. A Crest worn by him at the Battle of Crecy is said to have been Adopted by Edward, the Black Prince, but that story has been proved to be false.
