Thank you for all this. I guess even with all the books flowing in, Mali couldn't get its minds around enough new things, or keeping connection with old things, to diversify their economy and gather modern technology, such as getting firearms about the same time as Europe. Darn Would have been a much more interesting world, with an African super power.
