I believe we are planning to release Extra Mythology sometime this year (2018), but the truth is, as we had explained, we weren't expecting to hit our Extra Mythology goal *until* mid-2018 (we only hit it because of a very generous one-time donation from an eager patron). We've had a lot of sponsored/additional episodes on our plate lately so our production timeline is a little wonky right now for Extra Mythology. We will of course always update you lovely folks *first* on any news related to Extra Mythology. --Belinda (Community Manager)

that makes some sense; Mongolia is mostly high-altitude grassland; so you didn't have many options to hide from lightning if you're outside.

I tried looking it up and the only other mention I can find of the Jurched anywhere is as an alternate name for the Jurchen and that would make sense as a supremely powerful people living nearby and messing with China. So they're probably the same. No idea about the Tartars, though. I can't find mention of them, but Tatar only refers to the Turco-Mongolic successors living in Russia. I guess they could be a Turkic tribe and older sources just called them all Tatars, but it's only a guess.

I don't think Jurched has anything to do with Jurchen per se, but there might be some etymological ties. Tartars and Tatars are a complicated story. Basically Tatars was one of the names the outside world called the Mongols under Genghis Khan, probably from previous knowledge of said Tartar clan. The name stuck and became what the new Turco- Mongol mix appearing in what today would be Russia was called.

I congratulate you for the Genghis Khan series. However I wonder if this is going to be an extended one because three episodes in and it's still about the Civil War...will you be covering the conquests in China, and the Khwarezmid Empire?

There's a Mongolian biographical movie about Temujin where they say that all Mongols fear the lightning, Tengrii's Wrath, so when Temujin and his forces don't seek shelter in the lightning, and the lightning doesn't smite them, they are empowered by Tengrii itself.

So are the Jurched and the Tartars related to the Jurchen and the Tatars? Because both of those people were incredibly important, often overlooked and get to play bit parts in the stories of settled people. The Tatars would famously rule Russia for centuries, while the Jurchen would twice conquer northern China and the second time, they took the south and the west as well.
