Guys I had a request, can you make a series on the Maratha Confederacy, there are two time periods you can choose, one is of foundation of the empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj or the other one being the rise of the Peshwa family. There are many interesting takes you can have on both of them. The amazing military prowess and leadership of Shivaji or Bajirao or of debacle at 3rd battle of Panipat and later the restoration of dominance under Madhavrao or the degradation of Raghunathrao and his son. There's a lot of history there which hasn't been heard. I implore you to please consider this while doing a new extra history series. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

The USS Lexington that sank at the Coral Sea was CV-2. CV-16 was named in its honor.

Salmon, in fact, enlisted and, until transferred to the medical corps, served as a private. Another detail you got wrong is that his family never got his Medal of Honor. Amazing stories of heroism. Also such a great telling of the story of the fidelity of men on both sides to both their causes as well as their comrades. Was especially touched by what Guy Gabaldon did in search of preserving lives in the midst of the killing madness that too often overtakes combatants. His story is rare in the annals of war and should be remembered.

You mention the USS Lexington early in the video, but wasnβt that ship sunk in 1942 at the Battle of the Coral Sea?

This detail wasn't mentioned in the video, but when Thomas Baker stayed behind, his pistol only had 8 bullets in it and there were exactly 8 dead Japanese soldiers found around his body. Also, a bit of a nitpick, but Ben Saloman WAS trained to fight. He in fact was qualified as an expert in both the rifle and pistol. It's just that as a surgeon, he technically wasn't SUPPOSED to take up arms under the Geneva Convention.

Guy Gabaldon was recommended for the Medal of Honor and was awarded the Silver Star as an interim award. 15 years later his Silver Star was upgraded to the Navy Cross.
