However, upon hearing Whitebeard’s words, Vir merely smiled faintly.
Heh!
No one lets him treat them?
You’re worried they’ll run away?
Well, it was true—no one asked Vir to treat them!
But the whole reason he worked so hard to get stronger was the ability to treat whoever he damn well pleased!
Run away?
This time, you were spared the experience of getting smacked with a brick.
Otherwise, you definitely wouldn’t be saying this.
"You’re absolutely right about one thing—no one asks me to treat them."
"But my 1 billion bounty isn’t just for show! If I want to treat, I will treat!"
Vir said fiercely.
Whitebeard was slightly stunned upon hearing this.
What does he mean by that?
You force people into getting treated?!
He had lived for so many years, but this was the first time he had seen such an enthusiastic doctor!
At this point, Whitebeard was seriously beginning to suspect whether Vir had some kind of violent tendencies.
Otherwise, why would he be so passionate about torturing people?
"How do you feel now?"
Vir asked while looking at Whitebeard, who was staring at him with confusion.
Upon hearing this, Whitebeard closed his eyes and carefully sensed his body.
Seeing this, everyone involuntarily edged a little closer.
Soon, Whitebeard’s eyes snapped open.
He looked at Vir and said solemnly, "Significantly better. My body doesn’t feel as heavy anymore. It’s… much more comfortable."
As soon as Whitebeard finished speaking—
A wave of cheers erupted from below!
"Wooo! It actually worked!"
"Vir is a legend!"
"This is amazing! Pops is saved! I can’t believe I doubted him earlier! Damn it, I’m such a fool!"
"See?! SEE?! Look at this guy, Marco! As the ship’s doctor, you’re absolute garbage!"
"Hey, Jozu! Are you asking for another beating?!"
The entire crew erupted into cheers, their excitement overwhelming—though it felt a little strange given the foul stench still lingering in the air...
Seeing his sons so happy, Whitebeard couldn't help but smile as well.
In truth, he was feeling far from calm inside.
Normally, just breathing would cause pain in his lungs due to the expansion and contraction.
But now, it was gone.
Completely gone.
The faint remnants of cracks still present caused only the slightest itch—like a gentle breeze brushing past.
Far from painful.
It was... comfortable.
At this moment, Whitebeard’s gaze changed.
He was no longer looking at Vir with casual indifference.
No longer with the gaze of an elder looking at a junior.
This man…
He might actually be able to cure him!
Forget anything else—just this massage alone, capable of repairing the fractures in his internal organs to such an extent, was enough to convince Whitebeard that in this war, he would absolutely save Ace!
With a thunderous clap, Whitebeard slammed his massive hand onto Vir’s shoulder—
—his palm so large it practically engulfed Vir like the Buddha’s Divine Palm.
If he had grabbed him outright, it would’ve looked like he was holding a doll.
Vir staggered from the impact, shooting Whitebeard an exasperated look.
But Whitebeard’s expression was deadly serious as he spoke:
"Vir. If you heal me this time, you’ll be my savior."
"I won’t bother asking you to be my son—clearly, you are not that type."
"From now on, if you ever need anything, use my name! If you need my help, just call! I’ll come anytime!"
"Marco! Give Vir my personal Den Den Mushi number later!"
Whitebeard’s gratitude was genuine.
The war was about to begin.
And now, right before it, he could return to his peak?
This was something he wouldn’t have even dared to dream of!
But now—
Vir had given him hope!
Hope to recover!
Hope to save Ace!
His body recovering—
That was the most important thing for Whitebeard right now!
He wouldn’t hesitate to trade his life for it if necessary!
Calling Vir his savior almost felt like an understatement.
If he weren’t so old, he would definitely have insisted on becoming sworn brothers with Vir!
But after hearing this, Vir’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
What do you mean, "not that type"?
I get what you're trying to say, but why does it sound so weird?
Still, Vir could see Whitebeard’s sincerity.
His promise wasn’t just empty words.
But Vir didn’t really care that much.
He still preferred to rely on his own strength.
So all he hoped for was that Whitebeard would give him a good ability in return later.
"No! Vir! You’re not just our captain’s savior—you’re our entire crew’s savior! I, Jozu, will say it now—you’re my real dad!"
Jozu, now with several shoe prints on his face from Marco’s beating, suddenly jumped out again.
"Crane Talons!"
Bam!
This time, it was a real Crane Talons!
Even Marco’s sandal transformed into talons!
He ruthlessly struck Jozu’s big face!
Jozu was sent flying immediately!
Splash!
He landed straight into the sea.
Seeing this, the surrounding crew members rushed to jump in and rescue him.
But Marco stopped them.
"Don’t move! Wait ten minutes! Not a second less! That bastard’s drinking his fill before he comes back up!"
Marco said with obvious irritation.
He had tolerated this idiot for long enough!
With that, Marco walked over to Vir and handed him a slip of paper with a Den Den Mushi number written on it.
"Brother Vir, if you can heal Pops, you’ll be a lifesaver for our entire Whitebeard Pirates! Whatever you need, just say the word—we’ll be there!"
Marco spoke with utmost seriousness.
After saying his piece, he turned and stepped back without further disturbance.
He didn't want to interrupt Vir's treatment.
Whitebeard watched Marco with a look of deep satisfaction.
Though, it was unclear whether he was pleased with Marco’s sense of responsibility or the fact that he had just kicked Jozu into the sea...
"Alright, none of that matters now! Lie down already. If you sit any longer, your stomach’s gonna drop into your bladder."
Vir patted Whitebeard’s arm as he spoke.
Hearing this, Whitebeard complied and lay down without resistance.
At this point, he was completely convinced.
Setting aside Vir’s bizarre treatment methods, the results spoke for themselves.
The guy actually knew his stuff.
Trusting the doctor was the way to go.
Once Whitebeard was settled, Vir rummaged through his medical kit again. As he did, he gave Marco another instruction: "Marco, find me another table about the same height as the last one. Make sure it's sturdy!"
Upon hearing this, not only Marco but the entire crew sprang into action.
No one doubted Vir’s medical skills anymore!
Their job now was to assist him in every way possible!
Meanwhile, Vir pulled out several infusion stands from his medical kit—the kind used to hang IV bags.
After setting up a circle of them around Whitebeard, Vir hung up the freshly massaged lungs.
This thing needed to be welded back in place.
Welding them one by one would be a pain.
He’d have to keep attaching wires, reinforcing the structure, and so on.
Might as well set everything up first and install them all at once.
Much more efficient that way.
Before long, several seemingly sturdy tables were brought over by the crew.
Vir nodded in satisfaction.
With so many, even if one broke, replacements wouldn't be an issue!
Next, after connecting the tubes to Whitebeard’s kidneys, Vir placed his hands on the two organs.
Though Whitebeard had already experienced Vir’s methods once, he still found it hard to remain composed at this moment.
This brat… did he really not realize how painful this was?!
Wouldn’t it be easier to just use a scalpel?!
Despite the countless complaints swirling in his mind, Whitebeard refrained from voicing them.
With treatment this effective, a bit of suffering was a small price to pay!
With a sharp tearing sound, Whitebeard’s kidney was yanked out.
Same procedure, same techniques.
Everything felt all too familiar.
But this time, with Whitebeard’s explicit permission, Vir showed no hesitation.
He went all out!
And with Vir fully letting loose, Whitebeard was in for some serious agony.
Soon, elbow strikes weren’t enough anymore.
Vir began incorporating his kicking techniques.
That’s right.
Kicks.
A medical treatment that looked indistinguishable from a full-on brawl.
Whitebeard shut his eyes tightly.
He simply couldn’t bear to watch anymore.
The searing pain radiating from his kidneys made him clench his fists and grit his teeth.
Yet, out of sheer trust in Vir’s skills, he refused to utter a single sound.
However, while he stayed silent, the rest of the crew had plenty to say.
"He’s using his feet now! His feet! Is this guy a kick-based fighter or something?!"
"Holy shit! Kicking is one thing, but he’s using Armament Haki now?!"
"Damn it! Forget Armament—why the hell did his leg just bulk up?!"
"What the hell?! Lightning?! There's freaking lightning now! What’s happening?! Sparks are flying everywhere! Is this really a medical procedure?!"
Listening to the horrified exclamations of his crew, Whitebeard gritted his teeth even harder.
This brat…
Does he have some personal vendetta against kidneys?!
Why does he keep going after them so ruthlessly?!
This is straight-up brutality!
These are kidneys, damn it!
The sensation was unbearable!
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You’ve earned 450,000 negative points!]
Tch!
Another huge haul!
In just over ten minutes…
He’d already racked up over a million Negative Points!
This speed was insane!
And this was just after a few rounds of applying medicine and massaging!
Sure, the massage was a bit... rough.
He probably wouldn’t get much more from the remaining treatments.
But this was already a massive gain!
Next up was acupuncture.
Right now, he was only addressing the damage Whitebeard had sustained from years of recoil.
But his injuries weren’t just from that.
His organs had also suffered various degrees of deterioration.
Which was to be expected—given that they were literally cracked.
Acupuncture should bring in another batch of Negative Points.
Though Vir wasn’t sure how many exactly.
The goal of the acupuncture, of course, was to rejuvenate the damaged organs and restore their function.
And just as Vir expected, once he began massaging Whitebeard’s other organs, they stopped generating Negative Points.
Still, as each organ was treated, the number of body parts hanging around Whitebeard increased...
