Chapter 129: Vir, The Deceptive Doctor
Hearing this, Vir was slightly stunned.
That’s right—he hadn’t even counted himself.
Last time, his bounty had already hit the 200-million mark.
So, by that logic, their crew has four Supernovas now!
Damn!
The Eleven Supernovas just became thirteen.
And they account for four of them!
How are the other Supernovas supposed to survive at this rate?
The gap is seriously too big.
Wait a minute.
Where is his bounty poster?
Did it not change?
Vir had already gone through all the bounty posters in his hands.
But he couldn’t find his own.
He turned to look at Jozu.
That guy was wearing the same enigmatic smile as before.
A smile full of meaning.
Then, under Vir’s shocked gaze, Jozu slowly reached his hand… into his crotch!
Huh???
Vir was instantly horrified.
'What the hell, bro?'
'Don’t tell me you stuffed my bounty poster down there!'
'What the hell do you take my bounty poster for?'
While Vir's brain was completely short-circuited, Jozu slowly pulled a bounty poster from his pants and gently placed it in front of Vir.
That devilish smile—Vir really wanted to land a full-powered kick on him!
'And you call yourself a good guy?! What kind of good guy stores shit like this in their pants?!'
'I wasn’t wrong to doubt you just now!'
Perhaps noticing Vir’s murderous glare, Jozu explained his actions.
“This was the only copy of your bounty poster. I was afraid of losing it, so I kept it in the safest place.”
After hearing this, Vir only wanted to kill him more!
Though, he wasn’t entirely wrong.
It was definitely safe down there!
But did it need to be kept safe?!
If it got lost, could they not just get another one?!
Was this the only one poster in the whole world or what?!
Looking at the bounty poster on the table…
Looking at his own handsome face on it…
Vir suddenly felt a little disgusted.
His photo had been updated again.
This time, it captured him mid-action during the "Thunderfall" attack on Enies Lobby.
In the picture, his right index finger was poised like a conductor’s baton, caught in mid-descent.
His expression was also on point.
Only two words could describe it:
Complete nonchalance.
A bolt of lightning happened to appear perfectly behind him.
This photo only emphasized two things.
Pure elegance and style.
Elegance never goes out of fashion.
Vir looked at his bounty poster and felt like treating the photographer to a nice meal.
This was too damn good.
Not even a staged photo could look this perfect.
How did they manage to capture such an incredible shot on the fly?
If he ever got the chance, Vir wanted to track down this master photographer.
And hire them exclusively for his own pictures.
Tch tch tch, was Jozu acting so weird because this bounty poster was just too damn handsome?
That’s unlikely.
He must be jealous!
Damn bastard!
Wait a minute, if this guy is doing this…
Does that mean, somewhere in the world, there are other crazy women doing the same thing?
After all, this picture really is a little too handsome…
Forget it.
If you don’t see it, it doesn’t exist.
Just being disgusted by this bachelor once is enough.
Thinking any further, he was afraid he might actually throw up.
After finishing with the picture, Vir moved his gaze downward.
A long string of zeros filled his entire vision.
His first reaction was: damn, that’s a lot.
Vir didn’t dare pick up the bounty poster—after all, it had been through a lot.
He simply leaned in slightly and started counting.
One, two, three, four...
As he counted, his eyes gradually widened.
Because something about the numbers didn’t seem right.
Eight… nine… ten?!
When he reached ten, even he was shocked.
That’s right, the bounty the Marines set for him this time was an astonishing 1,080,000,000 Berries.
Don’t think that’s low.
This is already at the level of a Yonko Commanders.
Marco and King are only around 1.3 billion.
Katakuri was exactly 1 billion.
And Jozu himself was just 800 million.
And just like that, Vir had surpassed Jozu.
His bounty had reached the same level as Katakuri’s.
This was a clear indication of how seriously the World Government viewed him.
In fact, they might be taking him a little too seriously.
He wondered what kind of plans they had in store for him.

Vir, The Deceptive Doctor
Bounty: 1,080,000,000 Berries!
A twisted physician.
Unpredictable methods, ever-changing tactics.
Dead or alive!
---
This bounty amount did surprise Vir a little.
He hadn’t expected to break into the billion range so soon.
His original goal… it looked like he would achieve it sooner than expected.
To have the power to control his own fate in this pirate world.
Once he finished treating Whitebeard, he would truly stand among the strong.
Even if Ace ended up following the same path as in the original story, Vir would at least be strong enough to survive the Summit War.
With his current strength?
Honestly, he wouldn’t dare go.
Luffy?
Come on, that guy has an entire lineup of uncles, grandpas, and sworn brothers watching his back. Not to mention an old man keeping his eyes on everything.
You wanna compare yourself to that?
You got a death wish or something?
Just picture it—Garp sitting there, his entire presence screams:
"I DARE YOU TO TRY!"
Aside from Akainu, who else would dare to go all out?
If Vir went there, the entire battlefield would light up with joy.
"Oh my! Look who just walked in!"
"We were just worried Akainu would catch us slacking off, and here you come waltzing in!"
"You got someone backing you? No? Then you must have a death wish!"
"Everyone! Get him!"
Yeah, at Vir’s current strength, the outcome would be simple:
Vir, dead.
The End.
Damn it!
There’s no way he’d let things go down like that!
Unless he had the necessary strength, Marineford was a battlefield he wouldn’t even glance at.
"One look and you’ll explode" wasn’t just an exaggeration—it was a fact.
So everything hinged on what old man Whitebeard would give him this time.
Vir wasn’t the least bit worried about failing to break through his defenses.
For this treatment, Vir had gone to great lengths.
He had even spent a fortune exchanging for an incredibly specialized massage technique from the system’s shop.
It had cost him tens of thousands of points.
Whitebeard’s condition was chronic.
Ordinary medicine or surgery wouldn’t be very effective.
Only traditional methods would work in this case.
And not just any traditional methods, but methods purchased from the system’s shop.
That meant top-tier effectiveness.
Massage combined with acupuncture.
That should be enough to resolve Whitebeard’s internal injuries.
And when it came to the massage, this wasn’t just a simple external rub-down.
The treatment had to be applied directly to the damaged organs.
And the technique itself was… a bit rough.
Just a bit.
So, to be effective, he’d need to take out the affected organs one by one, massage them, and then put them back in.
And the affected organs? Probably all of them.
Hell, he might even have to pull out Whitebeard’s brain for a tune-up.
His condition was somewhat similar to Ace’s back then.
A full organ replacement wouldn’t work.
Vir didn’t have a set of top-tier organs to swap in.
Using subpar replacements might not even be enough to sustain him.
So this was the only option.
On top of that, during the massage, he’d need to use a special medicine he had developed.
The one that smelled like rotten piss...
He’d have to pour it over the organs while massaging.
Uh...
Would that end up turning Whitebeard into an old man who stinks to high heaven?
Hiss~
That was very possible.
Wherever he went, people would faint from the smell first?
A pseudo-Conqueror’s Haki that opened paths just by walking?
Vir had already smelled the medicine himself.
All he could say was—
It burned his eyes, his nose, his throat, his lungs, and even his brain.
He had no idea why the scent was so overwhelmingly powerful.
But he figured Whitebeard wouldn’t mind.
And even after the massage, the medicine would need to be taken orally for a while...
Acupuncture was the simpler part.
Just some precise needlework.
The only issue was...
His needles weren’t exactly ordinary.
‘Cry Needles’
Price: 20,000
Effect: Awakens the patient’s childhood fear of needles, making them cry loudly. Acupuncture effectiveness increases by 30%! (Even if the patient is not afraid, they will still cry.)
Review: "Cry! Cry, damn you!"
Note: The appearance of the needles can be customized by the user.
Yeah, he could adjust the size and shape freely.
Vir loved things like this.
It checked all three boxes:
Boosted healing effectiveness.
Had a special side effects.
And full creative freedom.
These were exactly the kinds of items Vir liked to exchange for.
They drastically increased his negative point gain and ability growth rate.
Vir was debating what shape to give the needles...
Originally, he thought about shaping them into fake… uh, never mind. That’d never pass system review.
Maybe something weird instead?
Like drill bits or hammer bits?
Yeah.
After a whole combo like this, Vir doubted Whitebeard could come out of it without some trauma.
If he did, Vir would personally award him the title of the World’s Bravest Man.
Because Vir himself couldn’t take it.
Forget enduring it—he couldn’t even imagine it!
But if he did manage to serve Whitebeard properly, the rewards would be explosive.
Just in terms of negative emotions, Vir estimated at least a million points.
Aokiji had given him over a million already—Whitebeard giving him two million didn’t seem too far-fetched!
With enough negative points, he could immediately shout:
"System! Upgrade!"
One million to upgrade the system, another million to either enchant equipment or buy high-tier marketplace goods.
Enchanting probably required negative points too.
Enchanted brick! Enchanted medkit! Enchanted Merry!
All of these could boost his combat strength.
And the biggest benefit of upgrading the system would be his mental power.
With that, forget everything else—his Observation Haki would immediately skyrocket!
Hell, even his Conqueror’s Haki might awaken.
Because with an absurdly high mental power, an awakening wouldn’t be uncommon.
Maybe it wouldn’t be Conqueror’s Haki but some kind of mental attack instead.
After all, Vir had no grand ambitions.
He just wanted to live comfortably.
And that was just the guaranteed reward.
Who knew what else Whitebeard might give him?
Physical enhancements? Supreme Armament Haki? Supreme Observation Haki? Supreme Conqueror’s Haki? Haki Infusion? The Gura Gura no Mi? Swordsmanship?
Most of these would let him roam Marineford freely the moment he got them.
Surely, his luck wouldn’t be that bad, right?
