Suggest a Topic for Extra History!
🕑 Added 2017-04-29 22:16:43 +0000 UTC Link: https://goo.gl/forms/Fqql9IU9dLgqwEM13Deadline: Send before midnight Pacific time on Monday, May 1
Current Schedule: Articles of Confederation --> Bronze Age Collapse --> Great Northern War
What topic would YOU like to see us cover on Extra History? Send in your suggestion using the link above! These suggestions will be raffled and one lucky winner will be added to the NEXT vote, AFTER the Articles of Confederation series.
Note: In the past, we've guaranteed that patron suggestions will get two tries, one when they are first selected from the raffle and one in a "second chances" poll in case they don't win. We are currently running a second chances poll for the latest group of patron suggestions, however, this will be the LAST set of patron suggestions guaranteed a second chance. Special polls were making it difficult for us to incorporate as many new suggestions as we wanted to see, so we want to run them less often. The current poll (which you should also vote in!) will allow us to keep our promise to those patrons who won in the past, but after it's over we won't be guaranteeing second chance polls to patrons whose topics have been selected from the raffle.
This doesn't mean there will never be special polls again! Occasionally we may ask you for themed suggestions (like our previous "US History Only" month), and we want to be a lot more active about bringing back topics that didn't win and giving them a second chance... just not through an entire poll dedicated to those second chancers. We hope that this will allow us to keep things flowing a lot better and use your suggestions more often while still making sure we offer a diversity of choices in the topic polls!

I submitted the Risorgimento, as it's important to both European and North American history of the next 100 years
General Luigi
I submitted the Time of Troubles again. Now what could have made me so determin--it was Shuisky.

Personally, I'm hoping for a high level overview - but I'd be satisfied with anything.
Joël Quenneville
We haven't done any Indian history topics yet so I've submitted "The Rise of the Marathas"
Joël Quenneville
Canadian here! I'm excited to see Louis Riel has been suggested!
Joël Quenneville
Same! I didn't know about the guaranteed second chance raffle . The Seven Years War is a a huge and fascinating conflict. Are you hoping for a high-level overview of the war or a more focused look at a particular theater (e.g. Europe, America, India) ?
Extra History
We try!
Extra History
Heck yeah, I want more South American history!
Extra History
Welcome! Happy to see Canada get some love, and Louis Riel would be fascinating to talk about.
Extra History
Oh yeah! I email patrons when they get selected to let them know about the second chance raffle. I wouldn't want to let them down. ;) Good luck with the Seven Years War! I know James has wanted to do that one as well.
Extra History
Ohhhh, I really like that one! Lots to talk about and a nice change of pace from your topic world events history focus.
Extra History
Sweet! Happy to hear some American history getting love!
Extra History
HECK. YES. Antarctica would complete our tour of all the continents!
Extra History
Ooh, back to China!
Extra History
Glad you got that one in on the deadline, as Tammany Hall would be a lot of fun!
Extra History
That would be difficult but well worth topic to write about!
Vika
I entered the Brazilian Empire that lasted around sixty years and was a hot mess
Jason Fox
Just recently joined the patreon, so this is my first time suggesting. I'm submitting Louis Riel.

I honestly didn't realize the second-chance poll was a guarantee, I thought it was just something you did occasionally because you felt like it. As such - no hard feelings here that it's not going to be guaranteed anymore! Edit: Oh, and I entered the Seven Years War, as it's a big important historical even we've yet to talk about.

I hope it wins too. It's pretty stylish in a way (even though it'll be a few months before it comes up) but the fact I bring him up is one of the reasons I love the series: you tell both sides or at least, some of the different angles of the story.
Laura Galm
I submitted the invention of the radio. It just squeezes in at 1910.
Paul
John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry.
Wiggamemnon
I entered Shackleton's Endurance Expedition.
Tyler McMann
I'm putting down the boxer rebellion. Seeing the other comments makes me excited for whatever wins.
Mortimer
After months of missing the deadline, I finally recommended my topic, William "Boss" Tweed and Tammany Hall.
Colm MacNiallais
Just joined so I could put in a suggestion. I sent in the 1916 Easter Rising, perhaps with a focus on one of the leaders like Padriag Pearse or James Connolly. Even if we don't see this one right away, it is worth keeping in mind.
Extra History
Ha! Right from one divisive figure and into the next. Stylish.
Christopher Smith
Yes I'm excited for that one!
Extra History
At least we're getting some nice ancient history from the Bronze Age Collapse! Good luck to you!
Christopher Smith
Oh good one! Been wanting to see French Revolution or Napoleonic Wars for awhile now so I'm game if this one wins!
SparkyDJM1
I've put down Robespierre who, like Ned Kelly, is a divisive figure who either saved the French Revolution and the idea of a Republican France or seized power and killed thousands by betraying the ideas of the Revolution. Here's hoping it comes up :)
Christopher Smith
Sargon of Akkad/The Sargonic Dynasty/The First Empire again. One of these days!
Yuval Bar
No, kidding, everything is tres cool
