Popping in to confirm that World of Warships is free to download, and everyone else seems to know more about the game than I do so I'll just leave it to them. ;)

Marco basically covered. it It also happened that a German U-boat appeared to check out what was going on, as we mentioned in the episode, and the British were afraid to stay in case that made them targets for a U-boat counter attack. Impossible to salvage under those conditions, even if you had wanted to.

That's the thing I always loved about naval battles, it forces you to think in 3D with an ever changing 'terrain'. Nothing is stationary, everything moves.

you get more xp and money if you use premium time. you can get every ship in the tech trees without using premium time, but it will take a long time.

That would be very dangerous. The ship was on fire and still filled with oil and ammunition, which a danger to any ship close enough. Also, Bismarck was already taking in alot of water, if Bismarck went under while another ship was towing her, it could sink the other ship too. Even if the British wanted to, the Germans were scuttling the ship. German naval regulations require the crew to destroy their ship before abandoning her.

It is free to play, I've been playing since closed beta. 121 ships can be earned without money but it will take you months to earn WW2 ships like Bismarck or Lexington. The British battleship tech line hasn't been implemented, so only paid premium ships Warspite and Hood are available if you want to play a British BB. If you want to play as the HMS Hood you will have to fork over 50 dollars. There are a lot of micro-transactions for camos, premium time, ships, flags, and other items. These are optional but lately the game is feeling more play to win.

This might be an odd question, near the end when the sailors were surendering, why not capture the Bismark and scrap it for resources instead of sink it.

I do love these Sponsored Episodes on the Second World War and Hope there will be more of them. I am also Tempted to look on Wargaming at World of Battleships but I suspect it will cost Money to Download.
