Ned Kelly Music: Farewell to Greta
🕑 Added 2017-03-15 00:11:08 +0000 UTC Music by the Sean and Dean Kiner: http://www.kinerbrothersmusic.com/extra-history/New series begins this week! We asked the Kiner Brothers if they could revive this old piece of music that was Ned Kelly's favorite song about himself. As usual, they blew us away!
Lyrics:
Farewell my home in Greta, now my sisters fare thee well
It breaks my heart that we must part but here I dare not dwell
The brand of Cain is on my brow my hands are stained with gore
So I must roam in future years throughout Australia's shore
Even now the price is on my head and bloodhounds on my trail
All for the sake of gaining gold my freedoms they assail.
But if they cross and check my path by all I hold on earth
I'll give them cause to rue the day their mothers gave them birth
I'll shoot them down like kangaroos that roam our country wide
And leave their bodies bleaching upon some woodland side
A prey to every prowling bird the hawk and carrion crow
It's thus I'd serve each cowardly cur who'd cause my overthrow.

Thanks for the reply :)

They should always be on Fridays at 10am PST! I used to post them pretty randomly at like 3 in the morning but it's fairly consistent now.

Admiral Byrd. ;) I got this!

'Fraid this one's not Aussie-themed either. I hope you will enjoy it, but it has no connection to Ned Kelly at all!
Alex Kyriacou
Bugger. Ah well, another Aussie themed (I presume) episode should be good.
Extra History
I'll check that out for a possible future one-off, but the episode that will follow Ned Kelly (it's five episodes) has already been written!
Alex Kyriacou
Antarctica might be a bit of a challenge. There aren't many people there to vote for it and I don't think Penguins can use Patreon
Extra History
It'll be here soon!
Extra History
I hope it lives up to expectations. :)

We've been on a tour of every continent lately! It's great!

If you don't fill this series with 6 episodes and need an extra topic, might I suggest an episode about Jandamarra, the Aboriginal bushranger? A former black tracker and policeman, he lead a guerilla war against the Western Australian government in the Kimberley region. One of the only times the Aborigines fought with guns against the European authorities. It's a pretty interesting story that not enough Australians know about.

'I'll show them down like kangaroos that roam our country wide' Oh this is gonna be good. Cheers for having my home country make an appearance in Extra History

I'm personally amused that it goes from this regret for his unfortunate circumstances straight to how much grisly murder he's gonna do. It's... very Ned. ;)

I can see why he liked this song, it's got a real Robin Hood vibe to it. All hail the amazing Kiner brothers! You guys make some damn fine music!
