That theory sounds great. It makes him more complex and interesting as a character. He definitely wanted to fight with someone who was worthy and wanted to go full power. He wasn't afraid to die

Toguro is such a fascinating villain. Introduced as a stereotypical brute enemy only for the story to add far more depth to his character. I truly think he regrets his past decisions but had to live by them and wanted someone who was worthy enough to end his life while fighting at his maximum strength. EDIT: and you guys are now safe to watch the live adaption with no spoilers to be revealed if you choose too :)

yea not sure why the dub changed it but Toguro went 120% in that last transformation

Fun fact: in the manga Toguro final stand he went up to 120%.
