The host pressed the bomb's switch. A timer activated and began counting down.
Unless she pressed the button again, the bombs attached to the four sides of the balloon would explode.
The rope fixing it to the hook was released, and the freed hot air balloon slowly began to rise, lifting Mai with it.
It wasn't very noticeable on the ground, but there seemed to be a jet stream in the sky.
As the balloon continued to rise, it caught the westerly wind and accelerated.
The weather was mild autumn, but Mai was in no state to appreciate it.
The balloon she was tied to was unmanned, with no one else on board.
There was no telling where she would be carried.
Moreover, there was little time left before the bombs exploded.
"Fungya (That host is going to regret this later... But anyway, I have to escape quickly!)"
Mai reached behind her back for the handcuffs, feeling for the release button.
But... the release button that should always be there was missing.
Mai felt a chill run down her spine.
Come to think of it, my reliable staff members have disappeared without me noticing. Where did they go? The handcuffs with the release button that I always use...
Thinking that far, Mai shuddered with a bad feeling.
There's no way that idiot host could have mistaken them for the real handcuffs he prepared to show the audience, right...? (sweat).
But, if that's the case, then the handcuffs on my hands and feet right now are... real keys?????
"Fungyaaaaaa! (No way! Someone help me! There's no way I can unlock real handcuffs!)"
